Exquisite discussion thread
 

I'd like to get an Exquisite thread going for collectors to discuss, show off, put up chases and just talk about this great set that once was:flex:

Not looking at any ulterior motives (although I won't turn down cards from my wantlist) like shilling and pumping and the like. Just a one stop shop to go to, very much like the HOF Autos thread that there is.

I still think Exquisite is the benchmark, but have noticed you can get plenty of cards at nice and even cheap prices. Sometimes it's hard to believe they came from $500 + boxes.

I'm attempting to put together the 05/06 base Golds. But would be very interested to hear what you're chasing. I know there's some big time collectors on this site. Would love to see a few of your gems.

Just look at the quality of the base compared to from a set like NT. Night and day.

Gawd those are nice gold base cards.

Its a pity that my player PC never had Autographed cards with Exquisite..

Tim Duncan has not signed since 2005 sir. He was an exclusive with Topps from 1999-2005. And to add, he only has one non-Topps autographed card, which was with Skybox (Autographics) during 1998-99. Therefore, he never had any autographed cards with Upper Deck (at all). Thus, no exquisites, sir.

Beckett lists Duncan having 100 different autographs, but as much as I look at eBay everyday, I have only seen around 30+ different autos of TD including duals (which I don't collect if its not with a Spur whom he played with). I have never seen a patch autographed card of TD. I think most of his autos are SP'ed and that is the reason why it comes out rare in the secondary market. I guess being with Topps, that has odds like 1:10k+, makes it tough to pull one. Lol. I only have 15 of his autos, no duals and only 1 sticker.

And this is the reason why many TD collectors just get his patches in lieu of his very elusive autographs. Just a thought, sometimes his Press Pass Double Threat Autos even reach triple digits which is kinda odd for a Press Pass Auto.

BTW, he did sign some stuff with Press Pass, Wheels Thunder and ScoreBoard, which were outside the mainstream. These were included in the 100 Duncan autographs listed in Beckett.

I collect Jason Kidd Exquisite base cards. Especially 05-06. Have about 20-25 og those.

I've got some really nice Exquisite cards incoming. I'll share them in this thread when I get them and have time to take photos.

Great thread idea! And I've enjoyed the cards so far. Some beautiful base, parallels, jerseys, etc.

Does anyone own an Antoine Walker exquisite? Not the college cards. I've never seen one, he must have some right.

No, they did not. Not sure I understand that set. Believe there is a Kobe/Nash card in that set. As well as a Jordan/Rodman. Maybe ECF and WCF's counted as well?

Yeah you're right, I really liked the classic look of 09/10 NT base, but every year after that has disappointed me.

What I love about the Exquisite base, is that every year they mixed up the design, even if it didn't always work, at least they tried something new. The action shots from 04/05 onwards were also great, 03/04 is a pretty epic set, but far too many post up or dribble shots for my liking. Still awesome though.

I dont have a wantlist per se. I am just collecting any that i can get. Of the 42 base cards i think i need like 15 or so more to have all the players but those 15 players aren't what im actively looking for. Does that even make sense? I just try to get anybody that i can and if they are someone i dont have yet then im 1 card closer and if i do already have them, then i just have more than 1 now lol

How nuts would it be if somehow upper deck was able to make 1 product for this upcoming year with supposedly the best rookie crop since 2003 when exquisite debuted. And make a exquisite line for just this year with the best RPA so people dont have to wonder between 3 panini products and get a patch auto on card with lebron in a nba uniform. Okay ill stop.

^ I think Exquisite base sets will only increase in value primarily because of nostalgia plus it does have Michael Jordan. 2005-06 set for $360? That is a pretty decent price.

I low ball bid these 2 at the very end and didn't even come close on either haha. I figured the base set would get at least $3k with all the 9.5's. If whoever bought that wants to flip it, i think they will make a killing.

Still having difficulty obtaining that 2003-04 Tim Duncan base

Last 2003 Duncan base went for almost $100 on ebay.
