**2024-25 Jayson Tatum Disrespected Official Boston Celtics Defending Champs Thread**
As I create this thread, the Celtics are up 19 on the dumpy Knickerbockers (54-35) and Tatum has 15 points in 12 minutes.
|
Thread title fale.
|
:cry::cry::cry::cry:
NN |
74-55 at half and Tatum has 25.
|
We did it.....again!? :coffee:
|
132-109 final. Tied the NBA record for made 3s in a game. Missed 13 straight 3s to end the night. 6 players in double digits. In 30 minutes, Tatum 37/4/10 on 14/18 shooting (8/11 from 3). What a way to start the season.
|
Noone disrespected him. He's not Batman to Brown's Robin last playoff run and there's no debate who's better during that run
|
very impressive way to start the season. They looked fantastic.

Go back to the football forum. |
Just one game. But Tatum was clearly a man on a mission and the best player on the floor the whole game by a mile.
|
Barring injuries no one is beating that team.
|
They have Porzee coming back mid-season too.
|
Celtics at Washington tonight. Double-digit favorites. Hopefully no let down game tonight.
|
Good doc on Netflix that followed Tatum and 4 others last season (LeBron, Ant-Man, Sabonis and Butler). I developed a deeper appreciation for Tatum. Heck of a player and seeing the doc crew cover the NBA finals win behind the scenes was cool. Worth the watch (10 episodes).

Another blowout 122-102. Tatum with 25/11/6 in 28 minutes due to the blowout.
Brown and DWhite continue to look great. This team is a force. |
Seems like Tatum won’t get full minutes this season as they running over everyone, looking forwards to see what Tatum can do with 40 minutes
|
He's been extremely efficient in the short minutes he's played thus far.

All the unwarranted Tatum hate has made me a Tatum fan. It's obvious to anyone watching the games he's easily playing great and every possession is highly motivated. They might win 2 more chips in a row.

I would love a 3-peat. |
Celtics at Detroit tonight. Detroit on the 2nd half of a back-to-back. Double-digit favorite again. It'll be fun to watch Cade.
|
It's October. Nobody cares
|
Give Boston its moment of gloat. They did it.
It's October. Nobody cares
:)!:)!:)! |
Up 73-62 at HT after giving away a 20+ point lead.
Tatum 22 points in 17 minutes. P-Rabbit 16 points from the bench. |
This is what happens when you live and die by the 3. Only up 1 end 3.
|
Kept it tight, but eeked out the win 124-118.
Tatum finishes 37/4/2. Jaylen with a 24/10/5 double-double. Pritchard with 19 off the bench. 3-0. |
Nice win last night. I love how this team just turns it on in crunch time.
|

They would have lost last night's game in previous years. |
Celtics play the Bucks tonight as almost double-digit favorites, which is wild considering the Bucks are supposed to be a legit contender (they're not). This is the second game in a row where their opponent is playing the 2nd half of a back-to-back.
|
Another blowout win against an alleged Eastern Conference contender (119-108).
Tatum with a pedestrian 15/8/4 after struggling from 3 (1/8). 6 players in double-digits, including a 30/6/4 from Brown and 28/5/3 from Pritchard, who's been a real spark from the bench. |
If Pritchard can keep up this production, he will have a case for 6th man.
2 wins over the contenders in the east (Knicks and Bucks), feels like Celtics is running over everyone if Tatum is in the zone, while with bad shooting day its just going to be more of a competition, but still a victory :) |

Exactly. There are some ultra-sensitive Tatum fans on this board. He's a very good player on an incredible team. |

Im just wondering why people were not bringing it up when GSW won the first 3 chips and Curry was not the finals MVP in none of these runs. Not just 1 time but 3 times. Everyone kinda looked to find something negative to say about Tatum even when he won. You must agree that people are rather trying to find something negative, rather than positive when it comes to Tatum (I'm sure many were happy that Brown won the Finals MVP only because that provided something negative to say about Tatum). |

ECF re-match tonight at Indiana. Somehow only small favorites against a 1-3 team...
|
I was a little surprised at the 6.5 spread myself. There are a few things going. 1) the 1-3 record actually masks really nice progression against the Magic last game. Even with Banchero going off for a record night, the Pacers pulled ahead from a 10 point deficit to an 8 point lead with 7 minutes left.
Yes, they did get slammed by the Nesmith foul-out + technical foul sequence with two minutes left, plus Nebihard and Hali doing their usual walk up the floor turnovers. But the refs were literally calling a foul every time Nesmith looked at Paolo wrong. I got to think they have been watching tape and working on that for 3 days straight. Add to it that Math is basically super rested (ditto McConnell), IJax is raring to go, and Nesmith has his ex-team in the spotlights. Gainbridge gives Indy an advantage and they will be a lot more desperate than Boston. That said, if Pritchard and co. continue their lights out 3-point shooting and Hali can't find his stroke, the Pacers are toast. Let's see more of this and less of that: |
Carslisle elucidates that Myles is out, Isaiah Jackson will start, Jarace Walker and Enrique Freeman should get substantial minutes.
|
Tatum carrying the team in the 4th quarter. He's playing fantastic.
|

They lose by 3 in OT, but came back in the 4th after being down 21. Knew the line looked fishy. Tatum with a 37/8/4 line, including the game-tying 3 to send it to OT. Brown a dismal 1/11 from 3, including the miss on the potential game-tying attempt at the end of OT. The road to 81-1 continues. |
How many games they have against the Pacers to make that a naw?
|
If by very good, you mean All-NBA, then yes.
yes, they have to be very good to be all-NBA |
Celtics at Charlotte tonight. Double-digit favorites again.
Horford has already been ruled out for load management. |
Tatum with 16 in the 1Q.
|
Celtics improve to 5-1. They really pulled away towards the end of the game.
Tatum 32/11/3. Jaylen with 25 points. This team is a force. |
They have a rematch in Charlotte tomorrow night.

KEEP UP! |
Celtics win by 10, move to 6-1. Next game on Monday against the Hawks on the 2nd half of a back-to-back.
Tatum with a quiet 29/7/3. Pritchard with 22 from the bench. |

Glad we got out of Charlotte healthy. All that Grant Williams shenanigans is pretty lame and dangerous. And yeah, Pritchard for 6th man of the year!
|
The one thing with that Noir I notice is that it is the image of a champion, for the first time. So that's like a milestone in a player collection. First after championship card.
|
Love his Optic rookie auto!
What is the hierarchy in prices? An unnumbered Optic auto vs. a Contenders auto vs. a Prizm Penmanship? |
Celtics at Atlanta tonight. Double-digits favorites again. Jaylen Brown out again tonight. 2nd night of a back-to-back for Atlanta, and 1st night of a back-to-back for Boston, as they play at home against the Warriors tomorrow night.
|
Up 5 after 1 and Tatum has 16.
|
Up 22 at half and Tatum has 26. Elite.
|
Ridiculous 1st half by Tatum. 6 three's! Insert fire emoji.
|
Hopefully he sits the 4th given they play tomorrow night. 28/6/9 would be a solid final line.

Cooled off in the 2nd half and got to rest the whole 4th. Blew out the Hawks w/o JB & Zinger. Big game against the Warriors next. F Steve Kerr. |
Win by 30. Tatum finished with the above stat line. 6 players finished with double digit points, including 21/6/6 from White and 18/3/4 from P-Rabbit. They play Golden State at home tomorrow night, with both teams coming off wins tonight.
|
I misread the schedule and everyone is actually off tonight due to Election Day. Golden State is tomorrow night.
|
Celtics at home against Golden State tonight. Jaylen Brown is out with his hip again.
Should be an exciting matchup. |
Too bad Jaylen Brown is not playing. Kerr left him off the Olympic team altogether after the finals MVP.
|
Tough loss last night after a rough 1st half from Tatum.
Finished 32/4/2 on 50% shooting with Derrick White chipping in 26/6/3 and P-Rabbit staying hot with 16 off the bench. Those points ring hollow in a loss, however. Next game is Friday at home against the Nets. |
Double-digit favorites at home tonight against the Nets. Nets are on the first night of a back-to-back. Jaylen ruled out already tonight.
|
How serious is Jaylen's hip flexor injury? 4 straight missed games is a little concerning. Hope it's not a recurring type of injury.

Agreed. I haven't heard much about it, which is concerning, given the Celtics track record with reporting serious injuries. |
Jaylen was driving into players like prime Mathurin in the playoffs. Of course that takes its toll.
