Finally got around to watching Band of Brothers. Was excellent.

Then went straight to the remade All Quiet on the Western Front and I found it both thought provoking and utterly brutal. Trench warfare was just insane.

Then watched 1917. The long shot sequences were really impressive.

Others I enjoy and keep in rotation:

And the followup series to "Band of Brothers", which are [B]"The Pacific[/B]" and [B]"Masters of the Air"[/B]. The aerial combat scenes in the latter are jaw-dropping.

Come and See and Thin Red Line are up there as some of the best IMO.

If I sort via "War" on Letterboxd, Last of the Mohicans and Incendies would be up there, although I wouldn't necessarily consider them "War" myself.

Black Hawk Down, Threads, 300, SPR, Dr. Strangelove, Pan's Labyrinth, FMJ, Zone of Interest are all worth checking out.

I have had several people recommend Masters of the Air. Looking forward to checking it out.

Anyone else watch Rat Patrol episodes? They also made a card set for it.

It was already mentioned, by Masters of the Air. Incredible. Better than Band of Brother and The Pacific, and that's no sleight to those miniseries.

Kelly's Heroes if you want an old Clint Eastwood movie, love that flick.

You've clearly never seen Bela Tarr's Sátántangó.

A friend went to a revival screening of it in NYC and packed meals for the trip.

I'll never forget my dad telling me about going to see that movie in theaters and being so upset when everyone died—only to then realize that the title had given away the ending and he should have seen it coming.

Hacksaw Ridge gets better everytime I watch it.
Midway from 2019 is really good. Somehow it slipped by and I justvwatched it about a year ago.

CURRAHEE.....3 miles up....3 miles down! I live 10 minutes away!

Inglourious Basterds is one that I will sit down and watch anytime it's on.

But if I want to test out my DTS-THX Onkyo surround sound system, I 'll pop in U-571. Still an all-time favorite, plus Bon Jovi's in it!

A criminally underrated war movie is 'A Midnight Clear', takes place near the end of WWII. A fantastic 1990's cast: Ethan Hawke, Gary Sinise, Peter Berg, Kevin Dillon, Arye Gross, Frank Whaley, John C McGinley.
Watch it, you'll love it.

Such a good movie. Absolutely love it.

Another really good, obscure movie is Atentát. It’s a Czechoslovakian film from 1964 about the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich.

I can't believe no one has mentioned one of the greatest war movies of all-time.

Patton

Also, possibly the greatest score of all-time. Jerry Goldsmith reaches near perfection on Patton.

As a teen that was my first exposure to The Rolling Stones.

Heartbreak Ridge is a classic Eastwood military movie.

Kind of a political/military movie but the 1964 original Manchurian Candidate was ahead of its time.

Stalag 17 and Paths of Glory are a good watch.

Bat 21, Bridge on The River Kwai, Spartacus are all other recommended movies.

The movie Downfall is about Hitler's final days in the bunker but has some great but poignant street fighting scenes between the Russians and what was left of the German army(mostly kids and old men).

As a 4th grader that was my first exposure to RS. Paint it Black baby!

Braveheart was definitely awesome

If you're looking for a Twilight Zone esque military style movie check out The Final Countdown.
