Junior Caminero Needs a Thread!!!
 

He's a young 21, hits the ball HARD and has a fairly cool, memorable name to boot. Caminero hasn't exactly slipped through the cracks as a consensus top-5 prospect this year but we've got threads on Aaron Nesmith and Tanner McKee in the non-Baseball threads and somehow - unless the thread search feature missed it - this dude has nary a thread dedicated to him.

Since being recalled a few days ago, he's pretty quickly become the best hitter in an admittedly weak Rays lineup. The kid's special and he needs a thread.

Past 2 games against Ohtani and the Dodgers, he has 4 of the 6 hardest hit balls and a pair of dingers.

Tuned in briefly to MLBN and saw him tie the game against the Dodgers in the 9th on a homer. Albert Pujols was singing his praises.

We all know why he even sniffed the big leagues last year, otherwise this would be his first call up. He only came up last year for a handful of games at the end of the season and had a pinch hit ab in the playoffs. This dude is legit and as a Rays fan I am pretty excited! Hes here to stay

His TC prices have been fairly low relative to the rest of the class. Had wanted to grab a clean blue of that as well.

Just to clarify, he has not been sent down a few times. This is his 2024 Debut, after a very brief cup of coffee last year after the Rays’ clinched a playoff spot.

Yeah, these two posts are correct. He was called up, if memory serves correctly, after the Wander situation and a couple freak injuries. Rays were trying to catch lightning in a bottle but he wasn't expected to stick last year.

This 2024 RC class has shaped up to be more intriguing than I initially would have thought. Elly, Skenes, The Jackson 3, Caminero, Wynn, Martian, Langford, Cowser/Westburg & a couple others that I'm surely leaving off. If only James Wood had been called up in time for Update...

I can't remember what a young Miggy fielded like but Caminero isn't a complete zero with the glove. I saw Austin Riley comps thrown around the prospect boards. Recall seeing someone with an Acuna minus speed comp. Those stick in my head the most because I'm a Braves fan but neither seem right to me.

Capability to hit for high average, plus power, walks at a decent clip, has absolutely no speed and a sub par defender at 3rd.

Grades popped today for my heritage gold to 5

I got a Psa 9

For last 20 years it would have been a Psa 10.

But Psa decided to make getting 10s much more difficult. Don’t blame them when they are grading 15 million cards a year and 10
Millions of those cards should never be graded ..

Grading is a necessary evil in the hobby
