The sapphire selections looks very Wild Card-esque, but I'm here for the treasured talent and sapphire parallels.

Probably a good indication the football market will be going the same as baseball when Fanatics officially takes over. Consolidate the number of different brands and pump a base set with a good number of parallel versions released as standalone sets.

Panini made upteen different products which is good in a way, gives people variety and choices, but I think it in a way diluted the market. But seemed like a way for Panini to keep the $$ coming in.

I DO hope that Fanatics/Topps has ZERO Panini Point shenanigans. If something is supposed to have 2 autos in it, put 2 autos in it

I can see that. The problem you run into is that you get 100 "different" cards that all the same photo. Do you think the collecting community will just learn to skip bowman and bowman chrome and wait for the sapphire. I haven't paid attention, but are people doing this with Topps in baseball? Don't care about Corbin Carrol Topps, Topps Chrome RCs. Wait and buy his Sapphire RC. It's all so watered down now.

Yeah, case should yield 2-3 oranges, 1 black and a chance at a red or extra black/orange auto. So 6-7 parallel autos per case.

Yep, looks like about 10,600 boxes based on the pads for the 200 base checklist.

I'm admittedly not much of a baseball guy but seems like there's no issues on that side. Think the key is doing this with their premium brands (a la Flagship and Chrome) and not every single one of the IPs. Can't imagine a world where a throwaway product like Zenith in football would do better than one of these Topps/Chrome variants.

Loved F1 Sapphire so decided to take the plunge. First time buying a box not in person so this wait is going to be quite annoying

I'm an auto chaser and for a 200 card checklist and an auto in every 3rd box, just not worth it to me.

That's my logic. If you buy a case and get 4 autos of 4 guys you never heard of that would suck, on the other hand, maybe you can by a raw card out of one of these of the player you actually want that someone else rips and it be more worth your $. The best value IS buying loose cards of the guy you actually want

It's an auto per box though. You need to factor in color autos.

Okay, I didn't see one auto mentioned on the box. Still for me, 1 auto per box at $150 per box in a 200 card checklist vs $120 a box for Chrome w/ same checklist & 2 autos, the value seems better on the Chrome

It's college product with long odds to hit something. Why are you surprised it's still up? You're paying $150+ shipping/tax for 32 cards, 1 is an auto and 2 parallels on a 200 card checklist littered with duds in collectability.

Yeah, the odds are not good on a product this expensive. If it had 2 autos per box, then maybe worth it

I say this because I’m finding it really hard to buy into this release. You’re paying 1.5x the price for one third of the total number of cards, one half the number of autos. Checklist is just as large (I.e. not more exclusive to the top tier guys).

Again tough right now to see the point of this. Is the design that much different? It’s same photos, same general design.

Baseball folks feel free to chime in. What am I missing here? What’s the catch with sapphire?

As a longtime Sapphire fan, the biggest appeal has always been the limited availability and the looks. Unfortunately Topps ruined the first part in 2020 as they decided to increase the print runs and give you less in your box in terms of autos and parallels. Checklists have been brutally large as well and diluted the product. The cracked ice has always looked fantastic though.

I've opened an absolute TON of the hobby BUC. I really, really want to open some Sapphire. But the price point compared to a regular hobby box/case just doesn't compute IMO.

I may still end up doing a case or 2 just because I really want to love this - the long auto checklist is a bummer.

The football market hasn't adopted Bowman 1sts like baseball, so this product will be tough for ROI compared to in baseball. Especially because of the lower value for non-auto parallels in football.

I still can't wait to see it get opened.
