Rittenhouse Cheers Seasons 1 thru 4

Was browsing the Rittenhouse website and saw this one listed for a mid 2024 release.

Could be a great set!

natbornkiller 10-31-2023 08:42 PM

Odds of sam or woody signing?
Guessing there wont be kristy alleys either

Findingtime 10-31-2023 08:48 PM
Odds of sam or woody signing?
Guessing there wont be kristy alleys either
They recently got Kirstie Alley for Trek. They may have had her sign Cheers cards at the same time. I don't think she showed up till season 6 or 7 though.

Wouldn't be much of a set without Ted Danson. Hope they can get all surviving cast!

Pretty certain they will have Kelsey Grammer, George Wendt and John Ratzenberger as they are pretty common on the convention circuit.

Guest star wise, I'd say Tom Berenger, John Cleese, Christopher Lloyd, Kate Mulgrew, Brent Spiner, Sherilyn Fenn, Christopher Macdonald and Corey Feldman. All these are easily attainable.

itsbaytime 10-31-2023 09:25 PM

Whoa, that sounds awesome. Too bad Coach and Kirstie are out. I would love a complete set of all the main cast.

itsbaytime 10-31-2023 09:26 PM

I know this has no bearing on Seinfeld, but would love that as well.

StevieV 10-31-2023 09:30 PM

If they didn't get Kirstie to sign before she passed away I can certainly see cut signature cards using her Star Trek autographs. Rittenhouse has done things like that numerous times in the past.

You're absolutely right. Funny thing is that the Star Trek cards sell for let's say $150. They buy 10 of those and make them part of the official set. Those cards will then sell for $1500. That's exactly what happened with all those 258 West Emilia Clarke autographed cards.

tomahawk 11-01-2023 03:13 PM

Woody has the reputation of being a bit elusive when it comes to signing, so I'm definitely not going to assume he'll be in the set, but I'd like to think they could get Danson along with the majority of the surviving cast, of which there are a great many when you really think about it. This could definitely be an awesome set, I'll be in for many boxes if the auto checklist lives up to the promise.

Rittenhouse said in Philadelphia that they had Ted Danson aboard. Not Shelley Long, yet. Don’t know the prospects of that. I don’t know about this set, never liked the show much when it was on, but I’m no good at predicting hits.

robomole 11-01-2023 09:31 PM

A Frasier/Lilith double auto would make me very happy.

Shelley Long and Rhea Perlman would be good.

I have this Ted Danson from a "Simpsons" guest-stars collection I got, but I'd love to get an actual card signed by him to add to my "Creepshow" set.

I mean, seasons 1-4 IS Danson and Long. If you can't get both, it's not worth it considering Colasanto is dead. I know there are other signers who would be nice gets, like Harrelson and Grammar. But the two most crucial characters are Sam and Diane.

oldgoldy97 11-02-2023 07:48 AM

Sounds fun but will it be delayed umpteen times?

I don't disagree, but I think this set will sell on Danson's star power alone. Of course Cheers fans will want both, but casual collectors will probably still buy in for a chance at Danson, and I don't think including Long will increase that likelihood. The set can survive without Long, but for Cheers fans that would be a large hole.

I will say, a Sam and Diane dual would be massive!

Here's my Kelsey Grammer, which I have as part of my "Simpsons" voice actors collection. (Kelsey is the voice of Bart's longtime nemesis Sideshow Bob.)

Pretty much any card where he's not covered in blue fur would be a nice upgrade.

Rictor 11-03-2023 12:41 AM

If he's in the set, I'll gladly trade you a Frasier auto for a Beast auto.

jdandns 11-03-2023 01:11 AM

Let's see what happens! I do like that the X-Men one is on-card and was signed around the same time as the famed Inkworks Simpsons cast autograph cards.
If he's on-board, this would be the third thing Kelsey has signed for Rittenhouse, so all on-card. Not bad.

I've got an 8x10 signed by Woody, but no scan of it.
I'll try to get it posted here at some point as an example of what his signature on a card might look like.

I was looking at guest stars from Season 1-4 and the main one would be Dan Hedaya as Nick Tortelli, plus Jean Kasem, Christopher Lloyd, Michael Richards, and Carol Kane.

Markie Post and Harry "The Hat" Anderson, both later of "Night Court" would've been terrific subjects for auto cards. :(

Inscriptions from Norm and Cliff could be pretty epic, especially if one-of-a-kinds.

There is ZERO chance of Kirstie Alley appearing in this set. Aside from the obvious reason, keep in mind that this covers seasons 1 through 4. Kirstie showed up in season 6.

alantown 11-03-2023 09:42 PM

I know this happened in season eight, plus it's a tad wordy but I would LOVE a John Ratzenberger autograph inscribed "Who are three people who've never been in my kitchen?".

Really looking forward to this set, hope it sells like gangbusters and they finally turn their eyes to Seinfeld.

pumpkinescobar 11-04-2023 10:57 AM

How early do they normally let you pre-order these sets? I'm a huge Cheers fan and would definitely like to get some of these cards.

jdandns 11-08-2023 08:19 PM

Here's a "Mayday" Malone baseball card by artist Cuyler Smith from his "Trading Cards" series. Smith's been at this for nearly 10 years now and the subjects number in the hundreds at this point. He takes sports-related characters from various movies and TV shows and imagines them on a trading card in the style of when the character would've played their sport, so in this case, it uses the design of 1974 Topps baseball.

These are artist signed items (actually considered mini-prints) from a numbered limited edition and are produced to look intentionally distressed, especially cards based on older sets. Woody Harrelson also appears on a couple of these, one as his character from "White Men Can't Jump" and the other as bowler Roy Munson from "Kingpin".

I reached out to Rittenhouse's customer service earlier this week. They responded that they expect a 2025 release as they're continuing to acquire autograph card signers.

Yeah, that is fantastic. This set is going to be a treasure for fans of the show.

Someone asked on the Rittenhouse Facebook post whether Woody would be a signer, and they gave an ambiguous response about the auto checklist not being finalized yet. I don't know why they wouldn't simply say "no" and avoid giving people false hope if he were flat-out not going to be involved, so it feels like it's possible he could wind up in here, which would be an awesome get.

I'm going to definitely be in on this one, sounds like they have some great signers lined up, loved the show growing up...would like to see a Danson auto inscription, when he talks to a kid that stole his 'black book', "You can't start out a 'babe hound', you need to start out as a 'babe pup'"...so many inscription possibilities with Norm and, of course, Cliff Clavin...

Raj 09-05-2024 04:58 PM

I've seen 3 different Ted Danson auto cards. One full bleed, one inscription full bleed and one auto relic.
There's a link on their facebook page from 19th August to a video featuring Steve Charendoff that shows them near the end.

Tim 09-05-2024 05:31 PM

I sure hope they get Shelley Long.

StevieV 09-06-2024 11:12 AM

And I wouldn't be surprised if there were cut signature cards of Kirstie Alley. She signed multiple Star Trek cards for them several years ago so they probably have some extras in the archives.

dukestr89 09-16-2024 07:05 PM

Per Steve Charendoff:

Re signers for Cheers, it's still a work in progress, but I can tell you that Ted Danson, George Wendt, John Ratzenberger, Bebe Neuwith, Fred Dryer, Wade Boggs and many others are already on board. I expect to add some more names to this list that should be very exciting, but I can't say just yet who they are. Stay tuned! Re SNW, I can tell you that Rebecca Romijn has agreed to sign cards for us. As well as Carol Kane and Martin Quinn. Pretty good start to the list of new signers!

BobCollects 09-16-2024 08:37 PM

I'm wondering if this set is still only covering the first four seasons. Bebe Neuwirth was only in one episode during Season 4. It would make more sense to do Seasons 1-5 (Diane) and Season 6-11 (Rebecca), although a set focusing on the Rebecca years would make it all the more painful not to have Kirstie Alley signing.

Getting Shelley Long would be big. Imagine the Sam and Diane dual autos.

Kelsey Grammer has signed for Rittenhouse before (X-Men: The Last Stand) so I wouldn't be surprised to see him signing for Cheers.

If we're dreaming, I want a dual auto of Woody Harrelson and Jackie Swanson as Woody and Kelly, somehow working in Woody's "Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly" song.

pumpkinescobar 09-19-2024 10:20 PM

Does anyone have any estimate for how much this set will cost?

Scifi Cards 09-20-2024 03:49 AM

Honestly, no. Not until they officially start taking orders.

But I fully expect it to be the SRP around $169.99 and then real retail being around $140ish. I don't see this being a House of the Dragon, and commanding higher than SRP unless they massively short print it.

I was hoping for a Frasier & Lilith dual auto. Looking forward to this set!

BobCollects 12-20-2024 06:23 PM

I don't like the idea of Rittenhouse holding back autos for a possible second set, not that we know that's the case here. It's entirely possible Rittenhouse just couldn't get Shelley Long or Woody Harrelson to sign. I'm not sure Cheers has the collector base to support more than one set but we will find out.

One good thing about Rittenhouse is they will find a way to release any autos they have even if there isn't another Cheers set, likely in auto expansion packs.

I'm only a casual fan of Cheers so I probably won't be buying any cases or boxes. Looking at the checklist, it shouldn't be too expensive to put together a mini master set buying on eBay.

Rittenhouse loves to include an insert set that requires at minimum two cases to put together. For Cheers, it's the 18-card Memorable Duos insert set that falls 1:24 packs. That's two cases, assuming you don't get too many duplicates. I've opened three cases of Women of Star Trek: Art and Images and still haven't completed the 18-card 2010 Women of Star Trek Base Expansion insert set that also falls 1:24 packs. And yet these cards aren't worth much of anything, probably because they're not numbered.

Bruin7 12-22-2024 11:47 AM

I believe Shelley Long is homeless now. Quite sad. In other news just preordered a case. The case guarantee of either Grammer or Danson sold it for me. They didn’t even need to do that to sell this release.

jdandns 12-22-2024 11:53 AM

Well, gee, you'd think she'd be interested in signing some cards.

https://www.scifihobby.com/samples.cfm

itsbaytime 01-13-2025 09:59 AM

No Carla, Woody and Diane is pretty rough. Why is Tom Berenger in this set for Seasons 1-4? He was featured in the last arc of the whole show??

dd316 01-16-2025 07:44 PM

I don't envy what the manufacturers have to endure. They land THE main actor from the series and instead of "Awesome!" many responses I see are "But they didn't get..."

Would Shelley Long be great? Yes! Would Woody be great? Of course! But they got Ted Danson - TED DANSON IS CHEERS! Yes, Sam & Diane was a really big thing, but the show still thrived with Sam beyond Diane. And you still have most of the rest of the main cast, plus some solid guest stars, all on-card.

Would you rather have NO official Cheers set at all? Or another Breaking Bad where neither of the 2 mains signed (for the record, I thought that was still a well done set)?

It feels like after Harrison Ford signed for a few SW sets, when new checklists came out and Ford was still signing (albeit not much) people complained the auto checklists sucked.

This really looks like a solid set on the way.

Tim 01-16-2025 08:29 PM

I disagree that for seasons 1-4 that Ted Danson IS Cheers. For seasons 1-4, it was 100 percent Sam and Diane. Not getting Shelley Long is a big miss no matter how much rose colored spin gets thrown in.

Most comments seem pretty positive except for a couple. If you're referring to comments like mine, I'm still hoping for that dual. They haven't released a full checklist yet, and other duals have been shown on their Facebook that aren't mentioned on the sell sheet.

I personally enjoyed the Frasier series more than Cheers, which is why I'm hoping for that particular dual.

While Harrelson and Long would be amazing gets, it's not a deal breaker for me. Harrelson is a very tough signer to get and I don't think Long is very motivated to be doing anything related to Cheers. For all we know, they might have secured both and haven't released them yet. I doubt it, but you never know. They could have been late getting back in.

I remember when a couple of people were complaining about Stellar and how Ford autos were going to be worthless since 100 a year were "flooding the market", lol. You'll always get some complainers, but I feel like most of us are genuinely excited for this set.

jdandns 01-18-2025 02:31 AM

Danson alone makes the set worthwhile, everything else is gravy, though it is a little pricey.
Good luck on your pulls, buyers! I'm looking forward to seeing the cards.

While we wait, here's an autographed Danson screen grab from a collection of "Simpsons" guest stars.

I've got an autographed Woody Harrelson 8x10 that's pretty cool, but I've always wanted a signed card.
I thought maybe we had a chance with Cryptozoic's announced "Freak Brothers" set, but apparently, the card set was cancelled.

The promo card arrived in the mail the other day. As always, it's a nice looking card.

Can’t wait for this one.
Does Rittenhouse do direct sales of boxes of their products? (Maybe on release day?)
There’s a shop section on their site, but there’s nothing in it.

You can usually buy cases, boxes, cases of binders, and sometimes base sets direct from Rittenhouse. I’m not sure if they do pre-orders or only put up product upon release.

I'd like to see a Harry Anderson "Harry the Hat" card. And a Sam "Mayday" Malone card in the style of a baseball card.
