Long time lurker, first time poster. This thread has inspired me to SMASH the piggy bank for Tanner McKee!
For real though, watched a lot of college football this past season and I wouldn't mind my Vikings taking him if he falls to round 3. |

See, this is why we need more hype threads.

Everything I have left is numbered to like 20 or less. Here's my 1/1 collection. People kept sleeping on him and his prices stayed down so I just kept buying and buying. I agree, he's be a great fit for Vikings and could learn a year under Cousins before they show him the door. Can you imagine McKee throwing to JJ??? :) |
This thread is making me giddy.

Agreed that his cards are way cheaper than you'd expect. I really hope the Bowman U Superfractor pops up someday, I need that and a red to complete the rainbow. McKee throwing to JJ and Hock would be a nice combo! Feels like we finally have the kind of offensive line that won't get a young QB killed too; I'm just hoping we don't take Hendon Hooker like in lots of the mock drafts I'm seeing, haha. |
ESPN agrees!
McKee had very weak weapons to throw to and was greatly pressured on almost every throw. I forget the stat, but it was like pressure on every drop back or something. If this guy had time and weapons, he could have put up great numbers. He has the size and can make the throws. My money is on the Vikings or maybe the Raiders grabbing him. Jimmy G is one play away from IR at any time, and he is certainly not a long term QB solution for the Raiders. Love to see what Mckee could do throwing to Adams or Jefferson |

Yeah, McKee really seemed to be set up to fail last season. Not much you can do when your team is built around the run game but all your running backs die like the '21 Ravens, forcing you to convert a safety to start the last 5 games, haha. And that's without getting into the ridiculous slow mesh scheme that was an epic act of self sabotage... |
I don't know how long it will be until we get nice McKee cards, but I broke down and snagged Bowman U auto during my lunch break today.

Odds of missing out on these types of prospects will be greatly diminished if the rumors are true about a doubling of the Bowman U checklist size next year. I also wouldn't put it past Topps to hold out certain prospects to give them their Bowman 1st in a later release like they do in baseball. Maybe if McKee had announced sooner they would have added him to this set or maybe they were banking he would stay another year and help highlight a 2023 Bowman U set. |

I am Tannered out for now. My next Tanner purchases will be in whatever new stuff comes out with him. How he was left out of Bowman U Chrome is beyond me. Love My Mckee 1/1 collection I have 6 so far. |
He will be better off being drafted in 3rd 4 th round
Richardson was god awful half his 13 starts. Now getting drafted top 5 Young on best team in football his whole career and is hair over 5’9 190 pounds I would take stroud in first round but it’s osu.. Levi’s not sure what he is ? Bodybuilder ? Pressure if top 10 pick is going to be real with this group |

Or it could be like 2006 when you had Matt Leinert, Vince Young, and Jay Cutler. 2 were busts and Cutler had a decent career, not HOF worthy. McKee in rd 3-4 sounds about right. No real pressure. He can go to the bench and learn from someone. He is a perfect fit for Vikings or Raiders. The Raiders now have Jimmy G and Hoyer, neither one is a long term hurdle. For the Vikings, Cousins is under contract for one more season then he is likely getting cut loose |

Slightly off topic, but as a Florida guy, what are your thoughts on Tyler Van Dyke? From what I understand, he was supposed to be a big time prospect in this year’s class but had to go back one more year after struggling. He has a lot of nice cards with a similar price point to McKee. |

Yeah, I don't know too much about him, but I read the same things that he felt another year in college could raise his game and his draft stock. One guy I am watching out for is Sam Huard. I think he will be a good value pick in 2024 and has good upside |

Pretty sure my LCS has a couple of Sam Huards in the 50% off box, haha. I might have to snag one. For next year I like where Cameron Ward is priced at, and I think JJ McCarthy’s BCU stuff is cheaper than it should be. Seems like his 1st Bowmans are the ones people are bidding up, but I like the licensed ones more. |

Now I want to know which QB crapped the bed with the most talented roster. |
Now I want to know which QB crapped the bed with the most talented roster.
Quick thinking brings me to Marc Bulger and the '02 Rams. Faulk, Holt and Bruce and he managed to throw 22 TDs and 22 picks. Of course Faulk missed five games and the team did end up 12-4. A healthy Warner probably takes them back to the SB. Then consider Matt Cassell in 2008 with the (almost) undefeated Pats squad. Goes 10-5, 22 TDs and 11 picks. I'm sure there are some who bombed with better players. I'd consider any Lions quarterback during the Sanders/Moore years. |

Jay Cutler, 2013.
Quick thinking brings me to Marc Bulger and the '02 Rams. Faulk, Holt and Bruce and he managed to throw 22 TDs and 22 picks.
Jay Cutler, 2013.
ooo yeah that's a good one!
He missed 5 games that year and still had 19 TD and 2600 yards. A full season at that pace would have netted him 30 TD and 4,000 yards. Not stellar stats, but not terrible. |
Isn't this true of the majority of quarterbacks?
No, I am talking about the nay sayers who are pointing to his lack of stats. You put Bryce Young, Stroud, or anyone in that same offense, with same weapons, their stats would have been a lot worse too. People equate big stat lines with talent/skills, and not always the case. |

Did you by chance glance at the skill players surrounding Bryce this year? Jermaine Burton, Ja'corey Brooks, Cameron Latu, Kobe Prentice (FR), Traeshon Holden, Jojo Earle, Roydell Williams. Heck if it wasn't for Jahmyr Gibbs that offense would've looked atrocious. I'd venture to say not a single receiver on the roster (aside from freshman who could improve) is drafted in the top 3 rounds when eligible. He wasn't playing with the guys Hurts, Tua and Mac had. Not to mention the worst OL Alabama has had in probably 10 years. |

And his backup tossed 13 TDs, 1 pick, and 1,800 yards in half as many starts. Ultimately Cutler went 5-6 with those stats. Maybe Jameis Winston/Kyle Trask worthy, but not getting in the playoffs and thus qualifies for bed soiling. |

You mentioned some shaky weapons for Bryce, closing with Jahmyr Gibbs. McKee didnt even have a Gibbs on his team, and if you look at the stats for pressure, I forget the %, but he was pressured on a very high % of passes, so his O line too did no favors for him either. The guy is a good pocket passer and has strength and good arm strength and huge size. He needs to have a good O line and someone to throw to. He could do well in the right system which is why I hope he goes to the Vikings |

Sheesh, Stanford was giving up 3.5 sacks per game  good for 122nd of 131 schools. Poor guy. |

Yep, and the pressures per drop back were really high too. |
The slow mesh scheme Stanford ran made no sense to me. It was literally the anti-Tanner McKee offense.
