So what is this going to be - just retired players and prospects?
|
Yikes.
|
So no players who are members of the pa?
|
I don't want to be intrigued by this, but an addiction is an addiction.
|
I guess Panini is going full Leaf mode here.
|
I was wondering if they’d go this route.
Glad Prizm draft and elite will still be made! I can see people buying Donruss and optic in this format, but that’s about it. I guess flawless and NT can still work. |
So Elite Extra Edition plus HOFs? Odd mix.

Lol no current players. Why even do it.
23 Donruss design looks crap, football and basketball will be horrible. |
Rated Prospect? So lame.
|
Rated Prospect? So lame.
Yeah. Rated Prospects have been in the product for a while but the fact that there is no Rated Rookies kills me. Going back to the 80s RR was always one of my favorite things to collect. And they increased the price on this to $90. Seems like maybe cheap HOF auto chases depending on the full checklist |

Panini can't even QC their previews |
That might be the ugliest card I've ever seen. Who wants this s***?
|
That might be the ugliest card I've ever seen. Who wants this s***?
Right? I'd be happy to open 91 donruss over this garbage any day |
That might be the ugliest card I've ever seen. Who wants this s***?
Oh there will be plenty of people unfortunately. Its taken me a while but Ive learned that most people don't have any taste. |
This looks like crap.
I ripped a TON of 2017 and 2018. Probably a case in total for each year. For the price, it was a fun rip. 2018 ruled because of the bonus wrapper redemption program. Then they stopped the wrapper redemption and slowly, the product started to suck. I purchased a box of 2020 just for the fun of it and pulled an Ohtani autograph. Haven't touched this stuff since. |
Rated Prospect? So lame.
Co-signed. Donruss without Rated Rookies is pointless. |

WTF?
I mean the past years haven't been horrible. What did they do? I like Rated Prospects but no Rated Rookies? Just stop. |
Who wants this s***?
Well put. Seriously though. Who would this appeal to? Not children. Not adults. Not anyone! |
With no mlbpa to tell panini what to do what is stopping panini from calling all of these prospects rated rookies?
|

The last couple of years NT was just more "here's this year's rookies", which kind of defeats the purpose. Some middle reliever who pitched 2 innings is not a "national treasure". Make it a true retired player product, focus on the old relics and autos, and I'm in. |
Imagine Jordan Walkers hype if he was a Yankee?!

I challenge any of you to say something positive. Not sarcastically. Just. Something.
Or, at least do a compliment sandwich? That's usually how any constructive criticism works. Otherwise you just sound lazy. Not that I think ya'll care about that. ___ I'm saying nothing on purpose and letting my silence speak for itself. This product, to me, has always been irrelevent and remains that way. Blank slate. With Topps not nipping at their heels in football, Panini has no excuse to not try harder in baseball where they are nominally competing with Topps. The best things about Panini were purchased from other beloved companies with a track record of innovation and actually trying. They haven't earned a compliment sandwich. |

It all just seems pointless to me without logos. I still love most Bowman/Bowman Chrome/Draft releases and Topps flagship if it has a rookie or two I can get excited about. |

I think the inserts are kinda cool and most of them will look great chromed out when Optic comes out.

Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Some of the insert designs will be very good and much better than what Topps puts out. And the retail parallels the last couple of years (Pink Fireworks, Vector) are especially awesome. I'm working on a Brandon Crawford 22 Donruss Dominators rainbow because it's a decent design with an awesome photo, even without a logo. I've never bought Donruss hobby but the retail configs, especially with a discount, are fun and ROI can even be decent because there are absolutely collectors who are perfectly fine with buying (good) unlicensed stuff. |

Any interest in this one this week? With how my luck has been with topps I may open a few.
|
Still no checklist. I want to see what the no current mlb player checklist looks like. I think low numbered hot prospects will do OK. And the desirable HOFs. Everything else? Who knows.
|
I am direct on retail - getting at factory cost (or close to it). For the first time in many, many years, I passed on Donruss baseball this year. I didn't order any of it. I have actually enjoyed Donruss in the past. It was a decent seller for me and it breaks down great with tons of inserts for my $1 and $4 boxes. I particularly liked the value in the Cello boxes. I just couldn't find a way in my mind to justify it this year. Overall wax prices are down and no current players. Even at cost, I couldn't justify it.

Why is Bobby Witt Jr on the checklist?
|
Imagine Jordan Walkers hype if he was a Yankee?!
:confused::confused: |
Any idea when the full checklist will be published....

I believe current MLB players can sign individual deals with Panini. |
The design is crazy looking and the cards are unlicensed ~ that’s a double no way for me
