Anyone watching the World Juniors, particularly Team Canada?

Bedard is unbelievable. Broke Eric Lindros' and Jordan Eberle's goals and points records with still games to play.

2 goals tonight including an unbelievable O.T. winner.
His Team Canada and Pats cards are currently flying off the shelves as we speak.

He has everything going for him, time will tell but the YG will def be fire.

His Team Canada stuff is going insane, doubling in value this tourney alone.

If the dude really does turn into the next McDavid it will still look like a deal.

I gotta know what set his YG will be in. I'll be stashing a ton of it away.

2023-24 Series One most likely. Whether it comes out before 2024 remains to be seen.

I’d add Columbus as career killer.

Bedard had so many circle wrist shots saved in that game that after the last one came back to him, he decided he was going to go for it. And man, what a play - that was McDavid level stuff.

I've been impressed in this tourney at how physical he plays. For a smaller guy, not afraid to mix it up. There was some pre-tourney buzz that Adam Fantilli might challenge Bedard's status as the top pick .. seems kind of silly now. 21ps for Bedard / 3 for Fantilli is a bit resounding, especially when it's a 17yr old.

Since there's not a WJC thread, Logan Cooley has been really good for the US - impressed at his overall game. Also Jimmy Snuggerud - already a better player than his dad :)

I have a feeling it’ll be Chicago. Just seems like the kind of lucky bounce the team would get as Kane and Toews move on. Not that the franchise deserves it.

Very good World Juniors with the only criticism is that his interviews are nowhere near the Hughes/Zegras levels at the same age. On the ice, I think he is a better version of Jack Hughes potentially.

I doubt the Coyotes "win" the draft lottery. The way things are going it looks like the Hawks though other disappointing big market teams such as Habs, Flyers and Canucks have a shot

This guy is one heck of a player and I just don't want to see him waste all his precious years playing up here and getting no where. Go to America and win some cups.

Bettman is 100% going to ensure he goes Chicago.

Have a few nice Team Canada cards of him, but the prices exploded on those in no time.

Should be a really good draft class overall with Michkov and Fantilli both very talented themselves.

It may be “our sport” or whatever but the Canadian teams aren’t made up of entirely Canadian players so it’s a dumb comparison. If the cap wasn’t a thing and you could somehow replicate a Team Canada Olympic roster on a Canadian NHL team, and that team went 30 years without a Cup, then sure. It’s two completely different formats of hockey.

Exactly, and it seems to me, anyways, the majority of teams that "usually" do win the cup "usually" have the most CDN's on board.

But besides that, there isn't one team in the NHL currently that doesn't have a variety/mix of foreign players. That ship sailed a long time ago.

Zegras and Bedard with Mctavish or Terry would be a crazy good line.

What is your guess on the release day price of Bedard YG? 1K?

Yeah I’d be alright with him going to Anaheim. Lots of promising young players there.

For maximum hobby chaos Montreal would be the obvious answer. Take the Caufield hype and multiply it by 100. As a Leafs fan though I can’t support it.

The pop for Bedard will be close to Zion Prizm numbers. I know I will rip some, but rip and sell would probably be a good idea. The fact nothing of him will be out until 2024, but those XRC redemptions for Artifact will be crazy.

McDavid was at a time when the hockey market was not as hot as it is now, especially in the USA. I think he will touch $500 out the gate.

A few people were paying 400 raw for Labustiere off the bat, lol. If he goes to Montreal/Chicago, I can see 4-500 off the bat, 2-300 if he goes to a smaller market. This stuff will be printed to oblivion though.

Buddy of mine got his 20-21 Pats team issued cards graded. 3 BGS 10's and a bunch of 9.5's. Just sold one 10 and two 9.5's on ebay last night for a combined $5400~. If you have anything Bedard in your collection right now, I'd recommend selling ASAP.

Anything CHL always goes down in price the second the first YG hits eBay. Happened with McDavid, Laffy, Svechnikov.. People will by CHL because they’re desperate to have a player in hand but as an investment, holding CHL cards long term is like buying into breaks to get out of debt.

If for some strange reason it hits this just buy hobby cases or retail you would make a killing. The fact it will be so overproduced I don't see it happening though.

I bought his Team Canada high gloss in March for $300 knowing that this tournament would see a crazy return. Sold for $1200 within 5 min of the goal the other night

This is what makes me believe his YG will hit a $1,000 right out of the gate too.
Been watching quite a few and they are moving fast and for some big bucks.
I purchased one not that long ago, a Team Canada card, which I'm sure, if I wanted to, could easily double my money now.

The hobby was different in 15-16 compared to now. Lafreniere's YG was reaching $400~ immediately after release. I'm confident that Bedard's will go for a minimum of $500 right off the hop.

Only question is, does he get into Series 1? The last two years it hasn't happened. Can Upper Deck get Series 1 out on time, WITH Bedard in it? Or are they forced to wait until Series 2 again? If Bedard explodes out of the gate next year and he's clearly on track to win the Calder, AND he's held until Series 2? It'll go for even more.

I'm not sure he'll come in at $1k although I do think $500-700 isn't unlikely, but it is worth noting that McDavid got injured right before 2015-16 S1 released, which I think made the difference in him coming out at $200-300ea vs. $300-500ea

Maybe this is the start of a new trend?

When the thousands upon thousands of his rookie cards hit the market, including the manufactured scare 1 of 1's, 1 of 10's, 1 of 25's, etc, every swinging dick is going to own one.
With these Team Canada and Pats cards, what you see now is all there is, all there will be, and those numbers pale greatly compared to what is coming.

Just look at how many McDavid cards are out there. The amount of Bedard's cards will make McDavid's look like hardly any from any manufacturer were produced.

I cant see any scenario where he isnt in Series 1. He's too big of a prospect. They'll do the off ice photo shoots like Laffy if they have to.

I just fear that in 10 Months from Now, no one will care about this tournament when the YGs come out, and prices will fall drastically from expectations. Id say track those Canada Cards, I be Opening Night next season they are selling for 50% of what they are today.

Could be wrong, but Ill be excited to watch him in Chicago for years

I'll be going through a few blasters and/or hangers searching for Bedard's YG. That's if I can find any.

I'm 100% sure his Team Canada and Regina Pats cards will plummet once he gets NHL cards, hence why I sold my Regina cards. You can get Crosby Rimouski Oceanic cards for $20. Anyone buying Pats team cards at these prices are nuts.

What I wouldn't be doing is buying base like these people are, base CHL, TC or anything else. Personally sticking with lower #'d/auto/patch, sleep well.

I was thinking of the UD CHL boxes that are out that Bedard is in. Not sure if that is what you mean or if there's another wax option. The CHL hobby boxes are like $60 or so now. I probably won't do it and will just wait for the UD NHL stuff but was just curious.

Probably going to have to pre-order 23-24 UD S1 just to be safe in case he's in it and not gamble on waiting for S2 for him to be in as they've done with the top pick the last 2 years.

A guy I know just sold a short print (non patch) auto TC McDavid for $5k. Throw a patch and auto on it and as Kanye says " He gone make it into a Benz out of that Datsun ".

Even though those are cheap, I just think the demand for his CHL stuff will be extremely low when his NHL cards hit the market. Instead of buying 10 of those for $600, you could get 5/6 Series 1 (or 2) hobby boxes which will have a far higher ceiling.

And, it wasnt a base, I said "short print" as I do not believe numbered. It was a McDavid Team Canada themed GWN auto, no patch. I think sp authentic ? I believe case hit so would have to do the math on it. 1:240

That is why I said even if you stick with low #'d/auto/patch TC stuff it certainly helps. That is why I said I wouldnt buy into the base card hype.

Very nice, congrats! Yeah I was only kind of around on collecting when the McDavid stuff dropped and not really into sealed wax collecting much at all then. I remember checking some of the UD box prices at the time of release and thinking about buying but never did.
