Spencer Strider and Bryson Stott are listed on the checklist as AUTOs and part of the RC insert set. But I dont see Witt, Wander, Julio, or Pena listed, but who knows, its topps

Cards look nice enough, but not at $50 for 30 cards. Can't even do on-card autos smh.....

Wish they would just remove autos all-together for a product like this. Cards look great and could sell well on their own merit if you removed the autos and knocked $20 off the price.

It would be great if Topps stopped printing sets that nobody wants, so we can get sets that we do want on time. The printing schedule is already so messed up they need to be canning stuff like this not making more of it.

Tempted to buy some boxes regardless of secondary market valuation because the images are so stunning.

Except for the minor detail that there is no consensus on "what people want".

I'd much rather have a set like this, with gorgeous photography, than a parallel of a parallel set like Chrome Sapphire or products like Ginter & Gypsy Queen that have pretty much identical designs from year to year.

I love the looks of these! In for 4-5 boxes for fun and PC.

ah yes- classic black and white design that takes you back, action scenes caught right from the middle of a ballgame, clean and simple design. But lest anyone forget that we’re collecting in the 21st century, we’ll put a nice color RC logo on the front of the card for you.

I'd rather buy these than cosmic.

I hate how on the X and other On Demand products similar to this release they don't include stats or other relevant information on the backs. I also am not a big fan of the negative parallels. Does anyone like the negatives?

They look great but not for $50. If people keep paying these prices then they will continue to be "expensive". #stoppayingforoverpricedcards

This could turn out to be a very interesting situation. Seeing as there is actually a set limit per the statement of at least 2 parallels per box, that BW has never sold particularly well, and that $50 is overpriced, we could be looking at a really funky final configuration and print run situation. Less packs sold means more #'ed per pack and less base printed. At 2000 packs for example (which seems like a possible final #), there will be about an equal amount of parallels per pack as base cards and base print run will shrink down to only 269. If only 1000 packs get sold (still seems possible), base print run shrinks to 3 haha!!!

It looks to be print to order with a cap of 13,200 boxes. I don't think this will be available anywhere else and I really don't think it sells out. Prior years reportedly sold around 2000 boxes at a lower price point.

Maybe they'll handle it similar to the Road to the Opening Day sets where they just don't create some parallels. In those prior releases where it didn't sell out did they over stack the packs with parallels or just didn't release all of them?

Granted that 2018 probably had much lower print run (and back then you get the full set of 60? cards from 1 purchase), Ohtani base card from that year's B&W set regularly sells for $30-40 raw on eBay.
Not saying that the same will apply for J-Rod, Witt etc, but it is a pretty nice looking product with some potentials.

At least I'm buying these over Topps Chrome Cosmic.

I wasn't involved at all, but I believe 2020 Bowman MLS was a similar situation where they sent all of the extra parallels allotted for the full print run to those that bought. I wouldn't mind at all if they scrapped the sepias as those seem very out of place in this set.

This. We’re talking about another product nobody asked for or wanted.

I really like the look of this set but at $50 for a 30-card pack in each box it is a tough price.

Price-point is high but picked up 3 boxes for my sealed PC.

We should be seeing some shipping notifications for this product in the next week.

Originally, I was going to hold my 3 boxes but I might end up ripping them (at least 1, anyway).

Anyway else looking forward to the product? I'm curious about print-run too.

Did not hear about many people going in on this and of course there is no PR for the product so could be very short printed.

Do not think the Soto x sold out and now the Topps X Pardee is not selling out so quickly. Shift in the hobby purchases on Topps maybe?

Hopefully, the card stock is decent. The photography intrigued me enough to pull the trigger (reminded me of a "vintage" Panini Photogenic/Topps Stadium Club).

Don't know if it's a shift in hobby purchases or the fact that this product (and those ones you mentioned) doesn't seem to have any "big" chase cards (as well as a lot of print-run unknowns). Probably seemed overvalued to many, which it could be, unless it's very short-printed.

I think it had very few rookie auto subjects (Strider, Stott) and the autos are stickers. If Julio, Witt, Pena autos were in it, that might have improved sales. But might be a nice product to have if short printed. I am still waiting on the Witt X boxes to ship. Hopefully soon.

I've been looking forward to this for a while. Couldn't find a thread on here so glad it resurfaced. I think the photography looks great and am super curious about how it all gets packed out. I agree that the backs are beyond lame but that might make it a solid candidate for a binder. I ordered more of this than other print to order sets hoping to put the set together along with some (hopefully) very nice parallels.

Despite the shipping window being 30-35 days after close, which was something like Dec. 15, a Topps customer service rep told me yesterday that they expect it to ship mid-to-late Feb., which checks out based on other products but is still incredibly lame.

I just want to see this in-hand, and end of January would have been a great time (imo) to check these out. End of Feb or sometime in March and there's going to be too much focus on the upcoming season to make the arrival of B&W anything more than the novelty they already are. Between this, GPK x MLB s.1, and whatever Topps tried to do with the Naturel release, they've really dropped the print-to-order ball on 2022 Q4 products.

Any info on these? I purchased 9 and am impatiently waiting.

No word yet on my boxes either. Lesson learned not to order any more of these Topps On Demand products.

I noticed the 2023 series 1 flagship Golden Mirror for Juan Soto is the same image used for B&W, and is basically the same as the B&W 1 of 1, I think (full color?), which is SOOOOOOOOOOO unfortunate/lame/I wonder what else has been reused. I know images sometimes get recycled. I just find it disappointing here and in other distinct products.

I haven’t gotten a notification yet, and my order was around Black Friday. I think there were another week or two in the sales window.

My orders that are shipping are not related to MC and were placed piecemeal between 11/16 and 12/15. They've all made it out the door according to shipping emails from Topps.

You're telling me ;) (I shot both photos.... it's clear they are different but it's not immediately evident it's the same play)

My images in this are Acuna, Cronenworth, McMahon, and Alek Thomas. Have some boxes coming but will buy parallels of those 4.

Since photo-based sets are my favorite sets, I bought a total of 10 boxes.

8 showed up today - very decent results for me, collation was so so in mine and favored me a bit as I hit 3 Julio for example to 1 Alek Thomas.

Hits included Al Kaline auto /10 right next to a Stanton foilboard /5, Ke'brian Hayes auto /49, and Vaughn auto /25, degrom /10 and /25 film strip, and plenty of miscellaneous nice cards. I felt the packs delivered well, nothing special of my personal chase though (Cronenworth, Alek Thomas, Ryan McMahon, and Acuna base cards).

Would be fun to get a trade done on mid-level hits; I'm not sure what to do with the Kaline but the popular guys I'm throwing up on ebay. If anyone else wants to try and swap negatives/sepias/film strips of my guys I'll be glad to do it!
