Will Aaron Judge retire?

rman112 09-19-2022 10:38 PM

It's possible.

ThoseBackPages 09-19-2022 11:08 PM

Positive for nandrolone.

I think we've come to the point where if he thought he'd done something wrong he would have admitted it. His apology did not provide that. You can tell he wanted to skewer the testing system but he probably couldn't for whatever reason.

NYRE2PECT 09-19-2022 11:58 PM

Is Aaron Judge overrated?

Is Aaron Judge underrated?

Somebody create MOAR Aaron Judge Threadz

This is lining up for what will be considered an all time worst contract ever. Doesn't matter who signs him. His body will not age well and he will be 31 next season.

refuse24 09-20-2022 05:41 AM

I keep telling people he will be going to the Mets [emoji41]

Mandy1320 09-20-2022 07:51 AM

It's such a unique situation. On one hand, he's obviously really good, he's a fan favorite, and he's stated many times how he loves NY and being a Yankee.

On the other hand, he'll be 31 next year and signing older players has bit Cashman one too many times IMO. If the Yankees don't win the WS this year, they will look to get better next year but if all they have space for salary wise is signing Aaron Judge, it won't make the team any better (it will be a lot worse but still). Then there's always the chance that there is a team out there in a better position to sign him than the Yankees and won't let him stay in NY.

If the Yankees win the World Series, then he stays. Hal and Brian will make sure of that based off the jersey sales alone. Hell, I'll buy one.

pewe 09-20-2022 07:54 AM

Judge: please come home to Boston. THANK YOU!

fulltritty 09-20-2022 07:58 AM

I honestly think he's going to stay a Yankee. Cashman and Judge will meet somewhere in the middle on salary, offer lots of incentives or maybe some deferred salary, make him the Captain, and the fan base will be happy. Hal won't have to tear down the Judges Chambers. It may be a bad deal for the Yankees 5 years down the road, but I just don't see too many great free agents for next year that the Yankees would go after except maybe another starter. And they can always get some wiggle room by trading dead weights like Hicks and Torres. :)!

Chris Lyle 09-20-2022 08:21 AM

I disagree - Judge will not meet the Yankees in the middle. He will take what he is worth which is why he didn’t take the 7/$213m they offered him in the off season. Judge will get $300M+ in my opinion.

And that very well could be the new middle in a new Yankees offer. Believe me, after this season, I don't expect the Yankees to re-offer 7 years/$213m unless they really don't want him part of the team.

speedyjg13 09-20-2022 09:04 AM

We don't know yet.

anusinha 09-20-2022 09:14 AM

This would be the perfect candidate for Arte Morono to toss 500 mill at, but hopefully he wont be in charge

BigL7370 09-20-2022 09:19 AM

The Yankees will let him go, sign someone like Nimmo and then to make up for the power, trade for Miguel Sano as a platoon partner of sorts at first base / DH.

caflisch78 09-20-2022 10:22 AM

Ohtani is hoping someone offers him 45 mil per so he can ask for 65

Triple B 09-20-2022 10:25 AM

He’ll set the AL record this year and then will sign with the Giants and go after Bonds.

They budgeted 200 something million for him. I doubt they're going to budget another 100-200m more for him now.

He’s going to have to up his dosing in the off-season if he wants to surpass Bonds.

SupermanBrandon 09-20-2022 10:37 AM

How many times have we seen: career year during a final contract year? Just to be followed up w/ back down to their career averages or worse?

Judge and Ohtani will lead the 2023 Giants to a second place finish in the NL West.

SupermanBrandon 09-20-2022 09:59 PM

I mean...they have to pay him! Especially if they win the WS.

ThoseBackPages 09-20-2022 10:00 PM

You think he chases the $ wherever that ends up? I’m not so sure…. Doing what he’s doing in New York has sone pretty massive perks worth more than say 2mm additional per year on what will surely be a massive offer.

SearchPatrol 09-20-2022 10:49 PM

85 % stays with Yankees
10 % Goes to Seattle - They have money and will not be afraid to spend.
5% Goes to Dodgers - If they can't resign the Turner Brothers (Trea & Justin) and Kershaw

I don't think he bet on himself just to narrow down his options to only the Yankees.

Megastars do not leave the Yankees in free agency. Only players in poverty franchises do that.

He will sign with the team that gives the longest term contract at the most money if you think anything else you don't follow the history of baseball. Obviously if a perennial doormat like Pittsburgh offers the most money then he will probably sign for less but that's about it.

SupermanBrandon 10-04-2022 08:33 PM

Still debatable!

fulltritty 10-06-2022 07:31 AM

Hal is going to have to pay the man or risk empty stands next year. No one is going to watch the crap old players these guys will trot out including Stanton, Hicks, Donaldson, and Rizzo and watch the plummeting they'll take in the standings without Judge.

Bcwcardz 10-06-2022 09:32 AM

No way he leaves NYY. They will work a deal eventually. He wants to be a Yankee is the main thing.

Before this playoffs I would have said no doubt about it, now I am leaning towards no unless the Yankees have a miracle comeback, if the Giants or maybe another team offer him more than the Yankees I think he is going to go there.

Sidirezegh 10-23-2022 01:02 PM

After listening to the Yankee faithful boo their own team and also boo their MVP and the guy who had the first 60+ HR season in 20 years, I'd not be surprised if Judge hit the road. What terrible fans.

TheWiz98 10-23-2022 01:13 PM

I think it's disgusting how Yankees fans have booed Judge during the playoffs. He had an all-time great season this year and carried the team offensively when the rest of the lineup struggled in the second half.
