Panini Score Premier League 2021/22
Score will be a stand alone Premier League product this year and a UK exclusive. Pre-orders are up for retail boxes (max of 5) at £60 and fat pack boxes at £72 on the UK Panini site. Release date is listed as 9/12/21. Retail boxes have 3 numbered cards, 5 red parallels, 12 inserts and autos fall 1 in 5 boxes.
|
Thanks. I see that it doesn't ship to the US. Is that standard for Panini UK drops?
|
Wish we had access in the states. Even without much good info, would just love a new rip. Possible Ronaldo makes the checklist with the late transfer?
|
Honestly I think this is the first hobbyish UK exclusive they've done in the modern era so there's no real precedence. I'd imagine Ronaldo will be in as the release is still 3 months away and there are no mock ups yet.

Didn't realize the release was so far away. Should have all the summer transfers in and make for a pretty great checklist. |
I know many US guys may scoff at Score, but I'm excited for this set for the UK. Also, Score just feels like it works for football.
If done right, and so far I'd say it is based on pricing and SKU's, it looks like a very good bridge product between Adrenalyn and hobby. Much the same as MA Chrome was last year, but I'd say better, as MA Chrome still suffered IMO from the link to MA. I've gone in for 2 retail boxes which I think gives me 400 cards total - hopefully enough for a full set or the ability to trade there with plenty of doubles too. Autos being rare at 1:5 also mean they have a nice chance of appearing, but aren't the be all and end all. Parallels mean a nice low numbered chase or rainbow for those types of people (me included), and then a decent price point to appeal to set collectors. It's gonna be hard for it to go wrong from here. |
This is an easy pass for me even if it was in the US as Score doesn't interest me at all. Set would be a perfect set for kids but sadly I don't think they will get much of it.
|
It's a shame that it appears the fat-packs will have absolutely nothing in them other than base

Confused me too as I forgot the UK does their dates wrong too :D |
Are there any top-tier rookies expected this year? It seems like the more exciting young players are coming up through the other leagues and moving to England post-rookie cards other than the occasional Foden or Saka. Maybe some guys like Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea or whoever Hannibal is on Man U or Falorin Balogun of Arsenal would fit the bill, but I eyeballed the big 4 + Tott + Arsenal and didn't see too much to be excited about. Certainly no Wirtz or Musiala or Moukoko level guys on their current first team squads. If so might make for a brutal product if it also doesn't have autos or other attractions

To be fair you do it the way you do (mmddyyyy) as it was the way we used to do it too but switched to the same way (ddmmyyyy) everyone else does it around 1900. To be honest they are both the wrong way :p yyyymmdd in the most useful for anything computing related. |

PL products have a decent floor as there are many club collectors. It's a low end set that people will try and complete sets for their favourite club, and like Mitch says it's an attempt to bridge the gap between AdrenalynXL and hobby for new collectors. The ceiling won't be high as there aren't any big name rookies (which was the case with PL Prizm last year anyway) and likely no big chases (although Ronaldo and Beckham autos might change things). It will be the only show in town for a month or two, though, but once bigger releases come out it'll take a back seat. |

Some potential RC's to look out for..
Valentino Livramento Boubakary Soumare Michael Olise Luke Thomas Carney Chukwuemeka Folarin Balogun Ademipo Odubeko Pascal Struijk Cody Drameh Anthony Elanga Christos Tzolis Jacob Ramsey (don't think he has a card yet) Crysencio Summerville Joe Gelhardt |
Kinda bummed this is UK only, would be a fun rip. Will try to put the Southampton set together atleast :)
|
Looks interesting - it'll be awhile until any singles pop up on the secondary market, but I'll be on the lookout for sure.
|
Don’t forget Harvey Elliott!
|
Any card images? I didn't see any....
|
Nope not yet
|
thanks for the heads up

Chong is a Birmingham on loan. Saw him live this week for the first time; pretty good player. Not sure he'll ever be a top side PL player, but looked promising. Feisty and competitive, but in the best way possible. From there though, hard to say - could be a few of the younger City lads included or Harvey Elliott may have a card (despite not being an RC). Oh, maybe Dane Scarlett from Spurs? |

Solve Collectibles has in it in stock. I checked and from the front page it gave me the option to send to USA, although I obviously didn't attempt to check that out. Maybe give them a try. I expect whilst it is UK exclusive, there will be ways and means around that if you'll pay the postage. if you just want Southampton though, buying singles will cost very little once boxes are being ripped open. |

Thanks for the heads up! May grab a couple. This would also make a great Christmas gift for my 11 year old. I'm just concerned it will be delayed and not make it in time. |

Comes to under $110 shipped. |

Great list. Panini UK did update the site with a Fat Pack box break. There ARE autos and parallels in there. PS They did tweet a checklist. It's a video though. Not sure how to embed here. Just seen the update, Balogun is in the main checklist at Arsenal, Joe Gelhardt, Chukwuemeka and Ramsey do get a card in this (as Inserts) better than nothing!
Leeds are missing completely on the "Intergalactic" insert set. Veteran autos of Zola, Beckham, Juan Pablo Angel, Zabaleta, Mascherano, Van Persie and Rooney. First autos of Raphinha. |

What's the verdict?
The verdict is: Who cares until they post images of the cards.... Tells you all you need to know about where the hobby is these days that people are willing to buy cards sight unseen.... |
Looks like they are pushing Konate as a rookie, I think, based on the rookie insert set. Not sure how that works when he’s had rookie cards in other leagues. Mascherano is the only Liverpool auto - bummer there.
Chukwuemeka and Ramsey do get a card in this (as Inserts) better than nothing!
Both their brothers are tearing it up in the under 23s too at the moment. |
I'm definitely excited for this release, especially to chase down some McGinn, Martinez and Angel autos.
The release is exclusive to UK, Ireland & Gibraltar so can get some delivered direct. Will be fun to rip for Christmas! |
How much is everyone buying?
Without seeing it I'm hesitant to go silly. I bought two boxes the other day before the checklist came out. Might go for another box, and one of the fatpacks too now it's been clarified they have #'d cards. I'd really like a numbered Raphinha auto. |

It's the sort of release I said they should try and with it being a UK exclusive at a decent price point I want to back it to encourage more like this in the future. |

Nothing until I see card images and decide whether or not I like the design. |

Since the boom in the market I haven't opened any product since FOTL of 2019/20 prizm when you could get boxes for around 100 quid (I can't quite remember the exact cost) direct from Panini. This isn't a high end product but I'm hopeful it'll be a fun break. |
Che Adams and KWP autos, Livramento rc. Excited from a Southampton perspective :)

Anyone know why this has disappeared off the Panini site?
Saw elsewhere that it has been pushed out to 9th December (cartophilic info exchange) but don't know where they got their info from. |
9th of December has always been the release date
|
off topic, but still on the topic of Panini... have Panini Germany just completely given up and stopped bothering?
I fancied picking up some Donruss Football fatpacks and they don't seem to have sold anything hobby related for over a year I can get some hangers from a UK shop, but they are $42 each (!) ....back on topic, I'm assuming Score has already "sold out" hence it now appearing like it never existed at all on Panini UK? |
"Due to ongoing global supply chain issues, the launch of Premier League Score has been delayed to January 2022. We apologise for the inconvenience, and are working to remedy the situation as soon as possible."

Getting really  with these companies now.
Panini with this. Topps with... well, everything. Cards that don't exist, boxes that just come out when they fancy - weeks and weeks after the timeframe they give. On demand orders that are in the lap of the Gods. Futera - delays, and then postage taking a month. Their latest Selection set offered in November for a likely January delivery? Why? It's just infuriating. Do any of them fancy adding stock when they have it from now on? These aren't (or shouldn't be) small companies relying on our money to get these things done. Just need to get it off of my chest, but at a point where if it's not in stock for immediate dispatch I don't think I can be arsed anymore. |

Sure, and I see the same so agree, but I would say that supports my point. Sell product you have. Don't sell product you don't, especially when potential for these continuous issues are so exacerbated at the moment. |
When did these go up for pre-order? Was it September? I can't remember without checking. I might cancel my pre-order then.. that's a handy chunk of cash in the lead up to christmas.
|
Sept 16th was release date for pre-orders, with 9th December meant to be release/delivery.
|
Seems to be a bit of ill-will on the socials. Dunno if its me, but a lot of steam seems to have been lost in the UK the past couple of months.
|
Is this still coming out in January?
It's deader than the dodo online, no mention of it anywhere for months, it's not back up for pre-order and my local shop guy who stocks stuff like Match Attax / Adrenalyn and soccer stickers) has never heard of it. All mentions of it have been purged from Panini UK's site. |
I've seen it detailed on Smyth's but not available. The delay has f**ked it, to be honest. Should be getting ripped through December and Christmas by people/kids, but instead it's going to be just another thing in Jan/Feb.
|
I still can't understand how we don't have any picture of the cards...

But has this happened before? I mean I know how panini works, but they usually put some templates but for this.. nothing and it was supposed to come 6 days ago hahah |
It is exceptionally bad that we've seen nothing, and it's past the first release date. Very odd.
|
It's a funny one as we got a complete checklist and a picture of the boxes and packs much earlier than usual. However on the flipside we don't have any pictures of the cards and Panini casually removed the page on their website, although it still shows up from low-level distributors upon a quick google.

Posting checklists without card images seems to be more and more common nowadays. Topps did the same thing with Topps RIP and Brooklyn Club this year....checklists first, no card images until the release date. |
well, it's 2022.
where's our 2021 score? |
Time for the refund email to be written I think. This is taking the piss now and they have had our money for months and months. Not even a preview of a single card.
I emailed them a while back asking for an update - they did actually reply within an hour, but only to confirm my order number. After I gave it to them, they never bothered to get back to me again. |
You got my hopes up there for a second YayNJ that there had been some movement on this...........ridiculous that there isnt even so much as a single card image.
|
Yep, it's a complete joke. They cranked out both Road to Qatar and now the new Prizm is coming out, so why would they bother with SCORE, which is traditionally a pre-season/ultralow-end set. Meh. The fact that they have purged every single mention of it from their official sites and their complete radio silence doesn't fill me with confidence that we will ever see it.
|

This is a good reason why you should NEVER pre-pay for a product. Wait until you see card images and a checklist before giving anyone your money..... |
I ordered two boxes in one order and then went back for a third. I've just requested to cancel the two box order. 16th September that order was made!
Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk |
The situation isn't great but to be honest most pre orders these days need to be placed months in advance in that respect it's nothing unusual. The lack of mock-ups is also a big negative but we got the checklist months in advance which is much better than most releases. Throw in the fact these were at direct prices and I'm ok to keep waiting.
There are tons of supply chain and personnel issues at the moment, yesterday Topps sent out an update pushing some stuff back to Feb / March too, we're going to need a lot of patience this year. Some stuff will be prioritised and pushed out (maybe before ready and with problems) and maybe have to sit around waiting for the rest. |
I finally got an official reply back from Panini (well, Gabor from customer services, anyway) and here is all they had to say...
Hi YayNJ, Thank you for your email. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, the stock got a bit delayed that is the reason your order has not been sent. The stock should be replenished very soon in January and you will receive a despatch email as well once your order left the warehouse. If you require any further assistance, then please let me know. Regards, Gabor |
This is a good reason why you should NEVER pre-pay for a product.
Wait until you see card images and a checklist before giving anyone your money.....
this is the reason you're saying 'NEVER'? delays are rampant right now and when it finally comes out the prices will most likely have gone up. if you can't float 1 or 2 boxes of a release, people probably shouldn't be ordering product at all. or keep complaining about like they're doing it on purpose just to screw over customers. |
Got my refund, no bother - replied in a day and with me today. Shame about the cards, but quick response is always appreciated.

It's not just delays....it's also products being outright cancelled. But for me, the more important factor is that until you see card images and the checklist, you have no idea how good the product is actually going to be (or what its value is). |
Just got this unprompted email:
