Love the design this year but who is buying these at preorder prices? 12/22 release now too

So am I correct in reading this, each player has a horizontal and vertical base card each with 10 different photo versions of both, essentially making each player have 20 different photo cards /10 or less ?

Blowout have these now at $750 a box or $3700 a case. The percentage of cases that have even a $1000 worth of cards in them has to be about 10%. I love being a gambler as much as the next guy but the reality is unless the Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Roberto Clemente cut come out of a case you've lost thousands.

I mean really, how many cases in all of production would net $3700.? Less than 10? Coupled with the fact that the patches get a little weaker every year. Last year was terrible. The sell sheet showed a Hank Aaron patch. I was excited to grab one and have looked every day since the release. Know how many I found? One!! That's it, awhile back and if memory serves it went for something like $1500. Would make for a great box but if you bought the case it was in then you still likely lost money depending on what you paid.

Dynasty used to to have a fair amount of shoulder patches or team logo type patches to separate from the rest. Last year was just the basic two or three color breaks that all the high end has. Very few eye popping patches unless you're an Astro fan. They must get Houston jerseys cheap because there is a glut of Altuve, Correa, Bregman, Alvarez, and Springer people almost can't give away. Let's face it, people aren't forgiving Houston anytime soon for cheating. All those players have taken a huge hit in the collecting world, even Alvarez who wasn't a part of the team.

I've never bought a box but I have a lot of beautiful singles over the years. I'm glad I got then what I did because I can tell others have hoarded away the really good cards. They simple don't pop up often and when they do they go for a good amount.

I guess it doesn't matter anyway because Fanatics will take over and Dynasty will likely be phased out. That's too bad because Dynasty for just a little while wasn't bad for a high end product. Yes, you likely still lost money but at least you felt like you got something nice in return.

I wouldn’t worry too much. It won’t be $750 at release

I love these cards but I just buy the singles on the secondary market 3-4 years later at a steep discount

Solid approach for just about everything but base cards in any product. FOMO is unnecessarily expensive.

Singles are in the tank but wax is still 2-4 x what it should be

I think I'd take a stab under 400/box or 2k for a case but doubt they get there. This year's design is really awesome. Topps teased a Jeter patch auto on insta. Super nice.

Agreed. Pointless and nearly impossible to sell even if you explicitly state in the description it’s not an auto or a relic.

Topps didn't make this reprint. This is a fake that has been sold as a reprint for a long time now. There are several copies on eBay right now. Someone has bought one of the reprints and sold this one as legit.

You are being generous at 90%. These have always been beautiful cards, but this has now become a secondary market purchase.

I remember the year this came out I pulled a Gregory Polanco rookie and a redemption for a Ricky Henderson. All rookies had a redemption card in addition to the rookie card. Redeemed the Henderson and received a 1/1 back all for less than $300 a box.

Less than a week away, can we expect a checklist tomorrow??

This is one of my favorite products of the year and I agree with everyone's sentiments about not breaking anywhere near even on a box, let alone a case. I just hope to see some new names in this year's release.

Would love to see some Wander Franco for sure.

Looks like a checklist was added. Can someone explain, is this the set where the base auto patches have 10 different photos per player each/10? So essentially there would be 10 different photo cards of the same player /10??

It's not clear from the checklist itself how many versions there are of each player. In 2020, there were 8 different Anthony Rizzo photos, each of which had /10, /5, and /1 versions. In 2019 and 2018, there were 6 each. But when the initial checklist dropped, he was only listed once. You don't know either until people start opening the cards and you see them, or until someone (CC/Beckett) comes up with an actual checklist that lists all the card numbers.

Do these usually hit a day or two early so preorders can be sent out and hopefully received before the holiday weekend? 12/22 is a dumb release date, but I digress..

Hobby prices are basically like a Dutch auction now. They start out super high and then fall to meet demand. It’s very difficult to find a product that’s going to appreciate after release.

There's been numerous 12/24 releases over the years though so 12/22 is kind of a gift.

:confused: Yes Topps did, this is from their Topps through the years insert set. Hence why a "Dynasty" card says topps finest, topps stadium club etc. Horrendous idea by Topps, exacerbated by the morons in this hobby that cant tell thats not a real Dynasty card

zero Fernando Tatis Jr in this release. I haven't paid attention to other Topps releases. Is that the case in all of them lately? Weird to see one of the top few current stars not in the Dynasty set.

It looks like last year boxes recently sold for $365 and $411 so I’ll say $350 for a worse product. Take it with a grain of salt though.

That's a dumb move....what would compel them to do that?

A couple case breaks of this went for about $3300 if my math is correct. 5 boxes so that’s $660 per box to break. Perhaps $550 a box isn’t so unreasonable?

Why are laundry tags a thing? Am I crazy for preferring a nice patch /10 as opposed to a 1/1 laundry tag.

I havent seen one yet, but I have seen 4 different Joey Bart, so am kind assuming, its going to be at least that as well for any rookie?

Yes. Nearly everything Topps does is actually game used unlike Panini. With the exceptions being Fire, Inception, some cards from regular Topps, and maybe a couple others.

Thanks, their terminology on the back confused me by saying it wasn't from any specific game or event, but the front states GUsd.

We will miss Topps when they are gone :(
