Opinions on prospects to invest in?
I'm starting to look into buying some UFC cards. I used to watch a lot of UFC but haven't been following as much the last couple of years. I'm looking for opinions on fighters who's cards are still cheap that have potential to rise to the top of the sport in the next couple of years.

Islam Machochev (spelling) Petr Yan Chase Hooper (I think he'll be good, still really young) Zabit Darren Till (well known but still young and coming up) There's others that I just can't remember, I recognize when I see them fight... If I think of others I'll post them here. |

He's a submission specialist so his standup isn't great right now, but he's VERY young. Compare Khabib's striking now to when he first entered. Remember how long its taken Uriah Hall to crack the top 10. It's an opinion mate, just because you disagree with it, your way of addressing it is childish and arrogant and frankly bizarre. And with Petr Yan, you're astute in your findings... he in fact has won the 135 belt. Reason I mention him is that usually 125 and 135 doesn't get a lot of attention from the fight world in the US, usually overseas it does well... but him being Russian, and not from a division that really does well in the US, if you can find some decently priced cards on Ebay, you can probably flip them if you sell internationally for a higher price. Next time mate, just ask. |
Darren Till (well known but still young and coming up)
Hmmm...I was high on Till a few years ago, but I think his moment has passed. Lost 3 of his last 4 fights, and his middleweight split decision against Gastelum wasn't all that impressive. I think he just had to pull out of his next fight due to a broken collarbone, as well. Just my opinion. Seems like a good kid though - I don't think he was ever the same after being knocked out by Masvidal. |

I don't really put a lot in to loss total, I look at the competition he's lost to. It might just mean that especially for Till, the UFC totally screwed him by rushing him WAY too fast... kinda like what Dana is doing to Kazmat right now, I think Dana would throw him in a main event, after what? like 3 or 4 fights in the UFC... I know he's a beast, but not everyone is a Conor (I don't like Conor BTW, but his rise was insane). Your opinion is definitely not one that lacks evidence... I mean it's hard to argue against it, but that's my response is all. |
Clay Guida....like getting a Cousin It RC

* Chase Hooper (Will be a top 10 fighter if Sean Shelby does matchmaking properly)
* Darren Till (Not going to be an all-time great, but has an electric personality, and will continue to get big fights) * Calvin Kattar (Is he still a prospect? Debatable. I've trained with the man and he's an incredible fighter with a great work ethic. Slickest hands at 145 besides Holloway) * Cyril Gane (Heavyweight is going to be ripe for a new order in the coming year. Cyril has amazing striking and great gameplanning) * Bryce Mitchell (Very fun style, media love him) * Zabit (Dagestani Lincoln fights like a wounded tiger. Exciting every single time. Ties to Khabib bump popularity) * Merab Dvalishvili (Biased – former training partner. The man is a fantastic fighter with a great work ethic. Fun, aggressive, always looking for opportunities to pounce) |

But he'll come back better. You know who I was hoping would pan out was that Kyle kid that fought Zabit when Khabib had his Al fight in NY. That fight was awesome and I was hoping for good things. I don't know if he's even still signed with the UFC. See I agree with the Chase Hooper and the Till thing, for whatever reason the other guy thought I was mental for mentioning Chase. He's a beast on the ground... I could see him coming along like Charles Oliveira... just gradual improvements until one day you notice he's on a 5 or 6 fight win streak and he's up next for the shot. |

Is there a limit to me mentioning you in the same thread you posted in? I don’t feel dumb at all and I can assure you I know what I’m talking about as all the guys I mentioned are already much better than Hooper and have much higher ceilings than Hooper as well. Chase Hooper isn’t that good. He was getting utterly owned by a scrub like Peter Barrett until he pulled that leglock out of nowhere in the last round in his last fight. Before that he was beaten from pillar to post by a journeyman in Alex Caceres. I offered my opinion and notice how I didn’t have to stoop to the level of throwing out insults in order to do so. Chase Hooper’s absolute ceiling is a guy like Cole Miller; a decent fighter but go check his card prices if you think Hooper is a “good investment”. |

I think Marvin smokes him. Marvin impressed me with his almost win over Adesyana... that was a close fight. Him beating that one dude recently (can't remember, too lazy to look) wasn't a surprise to me that he'd do so well. I wish it was Till though, that was such a badass fight. Oh well, hopefully Holland pulls off an upset, I mean he's got absolutely nothing to lose from taking this fight. He'll be right in the same place he was. But if he wins the fight, he just jumped the line. |
picked up some dern goodwin stuff. pretty good performance.

Bryan Ortega, Ryan Hall, Kron Gracie, Derrick Lewis, then u got THE EU monstOrs: Zabit, Islam, & Khamzat (NO cards as of yet tho .... AHEM PANNINI???) all their cards are already pricey tho, any1 comin outa tha eastern european area of the planet really, I was hoping the Danaher Death Squad would go UFC. USA gunna lose all belts watch... Jones bout time to mess it up n lose it again.

Nobody said Charlie Olives or Michael Chandler in this thread? Ya’ll realize one of them is going to be champ in the UFC’s deepest division very soon?

I just don’t think anyone classifies guys who have been pros since 2008 and 2009 respectively as “prospects”. Chandler also doesn’t have any cards and Oliveira only has Leaf autos. I also think most people don’t believe they’ll be long term titleholders. |
I think the Ciryl Gane hype in the HW division is overshadowing the fact that this will be Chris Daukas' rookie card as well. He's the 10th ranked HW and all three of his wins in the UFC have been via 1st round TKO. Big upside and I don't expect his price to be that high.
Not sure how deep the card set will go into the UFC roster but Luana Pinheiro and Tafon Nchukwi are two true prospects that have bright futures. |

You think Kron is going to be legit in UFC? I get that he's a Gracie and world class BJJ artist but his striking and stand up look very bad from what I've seen and I'd think he's eventually going to knocked out when he faces elite UFC guys. |

Yup, I bought a Oliveira 1/1 at the beginning of the year, before ufc cards went nuts, for $100. I recently bought his 2010 auto for $200... I'm hoping he wins. |

Ya, Kron looked like a bag of ass against Swanson, I think that's who he fought last. They should pair Kron up with people like Hall (though I think he's weight class above), or Ortega, ground game types |

I've been on a bit of a buying spree since I started this thread. I have sold most of the NBA and MLB cards I have which are all PSA 10 that I bought since I got back into collecting cards a few months ago. I've been putting that money back into UFC cards. I've also started follow UFC again for the first time in about 5 years, watching a lot of video and getting caught up on who these fighters are. That has been the best part because I have lost all interest in NBA and MLB before this for various reasons. I was really into UFC and MMA in the past when I was training a lot of Muay Thai and some BJJ and kind of fell out watching MMA when I stopped training due to having kids and not having time anymore.
Anyway, here is a list of rookies I've picked up so far:O'Malley, Makhackev, Zabit, Edmen (mostly because I used to live in Glendale for a long time), Yan, Blaydes, Valentina, Jan Blachowicz, Gaethje, Costa, Till, Yana, Maycee Barber, Holtzman (just because that was like $2). Definitely not a prospect but got Korean Zombie rookie because his fights with Leonard Garcia are some of my favorites of all time. I'll probably pick up a Francis rookie if I can get it for a decent price. |

Most of rookies I got are base cards. Blaydes is a refractor and I got his Museum auto rookie. Beyond that some older stuff. A couple of Overeem refractors, Thug Rose refractor, 2018 Mighty Mouse Blue Wave, 2010 numbered Faber refractor, 2018 GSP Museum refractor, 2010 GSP knockouts auto, a couple of Rashad and Mighty Mouse autos and some GSP, Overeem, Rashad and Mighty Mouse relics from specific fights. Those are mostly for personal collection of some of my all time favorites. |

Agreed, he’s racking up the brain damage at an alarming rate by being terrible at everything besides jiu jitsu and as Peterson proved to him he’s not quite the demigod at that part of the game that he thinks he is either. |
Dern and Gane are the two brightest imo. Gane because he’s well rounded and young, also heavyweight division is very shallow right now and some older fighters are getting weeded out (Werdum, Overeem, JDS, DC, and Arlovski very soon). Dern cause she is just lightyears ahead of everyone on the ground and her standup is evolving quickly.

I'd agree. He's also 36 years old, only fought twice in the last 4+ years and isn't the most marketable guy to say the least. In terms of "a prospect to invest in", I'm not seeing it with him personally. |
I bought Claressa Shields. Definitely a bit risky but will be a fun ride. Her hand speed is elite, no woman in the UFC (or on earth probably) is close in that regard. Same goes for her head movement ) defence standing up.
Through her boxing career she wasn't known for her KOs, so that could be a negative in the UFC. In her first fight she got absolutely worked on the ground and couldn't defend the takedown. She needs a ton of work there, I hope she takes it seriously and can improve. She was lucky to get a win in her first fight but man was she fun to watch when the fight was standing up. |
I'm sure knockouts will come a lot sooner for her with those smaller gloves. I agree she needs much work on ground game.

Honestly though, I don't think her excellence in boxing will overshadow her missing years of training in other sports that are too important to MMA. I definitely think the 4 ounce gloves will help her and she'll rack up KO's/TKO's in MMA if she fights women with no ground game but she won't become notable if she goes that route. Her first fight for sure showed how big the holes are in her game when she was pretty much losing a fight against a fighter with a losing record. |

Almost feel bad for Till after watching him get subbed by Brunson yesterday. 1-4 in his last 5 fights. His ground game is just non-existent.

One of the most overrated resumes ever considering his best win is a contentious decision over Wonder Boy most feel he lost. Take that one out his best win is over a faded Cowboy who would probably beat him in his prime even being undersized. With that being said my days of cashing dogs against Till are likely over. |

I think he could be a future champion. Reminds me of a smaller Chris Weidman. I don’t think he even has any cards though lol. I also think Colby would beat Khamzat right now. |

I would absolutely pay to see that fight...maybe one day. |
Khamzat has just made it look so goddamn easy vs everyone he's been matched up with. Can't wait to see him vs a legit top 5 guy.
It's a shame the Edwards bout got called off (unless you are Edwards). Can't imagine anyone wants a piece of him if they are close to a title shot. He's only been hit by 1 significant strike in 4 fights. Crazy. |

He mentioned he's interested in taking the BMF belt from Masvidal. Somewhat unrelated, but it would be awesome to see someone hold 3 belts at once (2 different weight divisions + BMF belt). |
