What Basketball Set have you Been Trying to Complete?
 

I have been working on the 1992 Classic 4 Sport Autograph set and need 8 more cards to go, the shaq /150 , Jeter etc... If you have any I am interested.

I also completed my 86 fleer set, figured get it done now before all commons keep spiking... Only needed world b free and Isiah thomas

Anyone else been set building?

I'm nearing the home stretch of finishing the base Cracked Ice set from 2017-18 Contenders, and the Optic Contenders Preview set that was found in 18-19 Contenders. [emoji848] Didn't realize I was such a Contenenders fanbois.

Some of the Galactic sets on these boards are just ridiculous. That's the one I wish I really had. #galacticboyz4life

I just finished the complete base set of 2012 Prizm basketball thanks to Blowout!

Now, I’m back to trying to finish my 2008-09 Topps Chrome base set. Have all the big cards (Lebron, Kobe, Westbrook RC ) Just trying to pick up a few more RCs, and I will be finished.

Nothing big, but the 2019-20 Optic Splash Silver Holo set. It’s just a cool-looking set. The checklist is solid, although for a shooter-themed set, I have no idea why Giannis is in it.

1993 Finest Refractor set. I currently only have 1 but would like to complete the set in a PSA 9 some day

17-18 Essentials Kings of the Court, Swish Kings, and Franchise Foundations here

1997-98 Metal Universe. I have most of the major cards, just missing like 26. I thought they were mostly commons, but I'm missing a few base vets like Pippen, Barkley Malone, etc.

I've also been on a kick buying up some of the Hoops Premium Silver Scope cards. They seem fairly hard to come by based on the number of single base & prizm variation lots I've seen people selling. Over time I'm hoping to complete the base set, not even at 10% of the base set yet.

That's the spirit. Reminds me of Deadshot's 1972 Topps auto search, that he completed in 2020.

I was slowly going for the 86-87 Fleer set, but with the way prices have spiked I think I might abandon that and go after just the Sticker set as I have Jordan already.

Recently completed the 96-97 Autographics set which was fun to put together.

Haha thanks! Definitely loved the set from the moment I first saw it. Unfortunately, I'm still missing some big ones, namely Dirk, Duncan, and LeBron. Two LeBrons have been on eBay for at least 6-9 months and the sellers are just holding so steadfast to their price, and that overpay ain't happening with 6 left to go!

I felt that Panini's checklist selection for insert sets wasn't great last year. It felt like they just wanted to stuff LeBron, Giannis, and Luka into every insert, which makes sense but kind of lowers the allure of pulling one those guys, in my opinion.

Regardless, great set choice. I thought Splash was one of the more underrated Optic sets last year.

16-17 Studio From Downtown. Missing Kobe, KAT, Wiggins, Booker, and Kyrie. I have 8 of my 15 in PSA 10, the other 7 raw.

And seeing the Kobe PSA 10 at $6,100 on a PWCC auction... I’m throwing in the towel and keeping the Curry. I’m sure it’s heavily shilled, but it will still have an effect on prices moving forward. Was hoping to grab it with a bid around $2,500 as I’m fairly sure none have sold for above that (LBJ included)... until now.

17-18 Essentials is honestly my favorite Panini set. The red base look great for Clippers cards. Platinum 1/1s look awesome. Photography is killer and the base remind me of Flair Showcase. Most of the inserts are sweet too, especially those 3 I mentioned (and Rock the Rim). The only negative of the set for me is Essential Rookies & Essential Stars are pretty meh inserts.

It's coming along slowly but surely. I bump my thread for it in BST section, but I never get any responses. In fact, I'll bump it now to see if anyone can help ;)

2017-18 Essentials, 2017-18 Revolution and 2016-17 Studio are top to bottom (base, inserts, parallels, etc.) the three best Panini has made IMO. Panini had a really good run of designs from 2012-2018.

2014-15 Select On Hallowed Ground tie-dye set. These only pop up every so often & there are some players I've yet to see for sale. I'm currently only at 4 cards of 15.

Finished the 07-08 Ultimate, 07-08 Chronology and 09-10 Exquisite [mix of regular base and gold/50s]

And most importantly the 07-08 UD Black dual patch autos subset [to /10 and /5 mixed]

That might be Panini's best use of tie-dye. Great looking cards. English is available on COMC at a decent price if you need it.

I was working on three. I've completed two and will show them off when I get everything back from COMC.
The other was 2017-18 Vanguard Beyond the Arc Scripts. I had all but the two outstanding redemptions of Kobe and Ingles. Kobe was never made/signed and Ingles is clearly useless (Aussie, to be expected...). So now I have a "set" that's not a set and I don't want them anymore.

Ha I have three Ingles redemptions from Vanguard - two regular V-Team cards and a V-Team Purple. Should I ask for replacement for these?

I'm working on the 08-09 Upper Deck Lineage Die-Cut Auto set and the 13-14 Panini Signatures Film set.

yeah I'm normally cold on any of the tie-dye parallels I see, but that one works great & they're beautiful in person. Thanks for the tip, do I have the English. So far I've picked up his, Malone, Olajuwon & Robinson.

There's a Parish & Ewing on Ebay now that I should probably pick up, but they're just a little higher than I'd like to pay. I've only seen a few of the others pop up on occasion, but I either missed out or they went higher than I wanted to pay.

This is how I feel with my 2018-19 Chronicles set... I realize that I've knocked out most of the easy ones, but it seems like the last couple pages have just been me bumping it every week or so only to get crickets.

I'm sure somewhere has Khyri Thomas auto's in some box somewhere...

I have built 100's of B-Ball sets over the years. The one that is killing me is the 2003-04 SP Authentic set. I'm only missing the Lebron auto #/500.

Years ago (for some reason) I could not pull the trigger on paying $1,500 to $2,000 bucks for that card. I figured eventually I'd get to it. Obviously, now it's a huge regret

Trying to complete all major release base sets (not including #'d cards) of the modern era (86-87 to current). How successful I am is another story.

When I got back into the hobby last year my plan was to collect '69-70 Topps, but after the price spike that's not realistic for me at this time.

Currently almost done with '08-09 Topps.

Same. I started with the big names and SPs about a year ago - about 60 cards in at this point, all the big names except Jordan and Penny. Looks like I'll never complete the set as I watch the Jordan skyrocket in price every day. :D Will probably put this on hold for a while I'd say.

1975-76 Topps set.
About 2/3 done, but need Malone RC and Jabbar, have most of the other big names.

Been out of collecting anything for 5+ years and made some good progress on these sets, but that between 6-9 and years ago.

2003-04 Topps Chrome Refractors -- just completed by purchasing Steve Blake and Zarko Cabarkapa
2003-04 Topps Chrome Black Refractors -- missing a bunch, but have the big ones...

when I was a kid I started on the Credentials set from ex 2000. Got about 30 cards in before giving up.

Today, maybe the Slam insert set from Hoops.

The broadcaster cards are rare, but I'm pretty picky about when I pick them up.

I started on a raw 1987-88 Fleer set years ago and just pulled it out again last year. I’m pretty close but haven’t really put in the effort to finish. Anyone have any NM to NM-MT commons available?
