how many of you are still hopeful your event will still happen ?

so i have a event in vegas on the second week of december .i contacted the event organizers and they are telling me the event still has the green light . the venue holds 8,000 people and they are only allowing the v.i.p. ticket holders to attend which is roughly 800 people . i dont understand how this can go on ? absolutely everything continues to get canceled .

the governor of nevada stated yesterday that if covid numbers continue to rise he will lock it down .

i have several concerns

possibly getting sick on the trip is number one

but if i do go , i have to quarantine for 2 weeks or take a test ? i contacted human resources at work and they told me they didnt know if i could collect unemployment , so i called unemployment myself . they said i could . i told my employer this and they are saying i got the wrong info ?

also the possibility of a travel ban going into effect while im in vegas . i asked my human resources again how they would handle that ? of course i havent gotten a answer yet .

im better off just canceling the trip and getting my refunds now before it is too late . there is way too much that can go wrong .

No hope for any events until 2022.

JeremyNick 11-15-2020 09:31 PM

It’s not even worth trying to go at this point.

We had a Disney trip planned at the end of March, which seems like eons ago now. It took us 5 months of constant calling to finally get all our refunds issued.

The next trip I’m planning will involve driving and little to no other human interaction if necessary.

Rent an RV, my wife and kids and every National Park we can fit into 2 weeks.

No more events until 2022-23. Strangers are overrated anyway.

hostilecarrot 11-15-2020 09:36 PM

My event is that I’m at home watching football with a cold IPA, carrots, and hummus. Outlook is good. Thanks for asking.

bblair_2002 11-15-2020 11:14 PM

Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner will still happen and we'll probably have more than 10 people for each so screw you Cuomo! lol

JosieD 11-16-2020 06:20 AM

My mom and I were supposed to visit my brother, who is stationed in Hawaii, in April of 2020. It got cancelled and we were unable to plan another trip before he comes home next month.

We were planning a Disney Trip for January 2021 but decided to hold off and see what happens.

I am supposed to get married on 12/5. As of now, we are going to do what we can but there will be no dancing or meeting and greeting. Really sad about it but trying to make the best of it. Moving it to next year might not be the greatest idea since who knows if things will be much better. I understand and support DeWine's decisions in Ohio as this is getting more out of hand than it did when it first started.

I get so pissed off when I see videos of local bars and restaurants allowing people to carry on as if nothing is happening.

Still, at the end of the day, I'm grateful that my fiancé and I have been healthy, kept our employment, and are still able to get married in some shape or form this year. That is, if Ohio doesn't implement stricter rules similar to what our neighbor Michigan is doing.

Ohio has a surge in cases but yeah, let's just go out and about to bars and clubs without masks or anything. That'll help turn the tide on this thing.

I think it is inevitable that DeWine shuts restaurants and bars down . Being my industry. we are hearing a minimum of 1 week. But i expect longer will be announced.

spuds1961 11-16-2020 10:43 AM

We had a lot of events booked throughout the year and most of them have been cancelled the good thing is all the refund money that is hitting our account.

I'm sure my 2 week vacation in January will get canceled just like the others I had planned for this summer...2020 sucks

bigdog2003 11-16-2020 12:27 PM

I've already had events I was suppose to attend next year cancelled.

chezball 11-16-2020 03:43 PM

Another c-19 thread, carry on.

jeg2315 11-16-2020 05:47 PM

Had to cancel trips in April (Vegas) and May (Mexico) respectively.

GF and I did a road trip last month through CA/NV/UT for some national parks and hiking/nature/etc., and a Vegas stay on the way back. Before that, our last vacation was Disneyland in January pre-lockdowns.

Feeling safer to travel via road-trips, but the street crowds in Vegas had me nervous even if a majority were good about masking. (Casinos weren't too packed though.)

Haven't been on a flight since that January Disney trip. Might take some drives to Napa/LA in the coming month or so, have some PTO I need to use or lose by year-end.

We hadn't been on a vacation in 7 years. Since Covid cut back on getting to do much of anything I had to get away so we went anyways and had to quarantine for two weeks when we got back. Not leaving the house for two weeks sucked but it was worth it.

The crappy thing is my niece happened to be going to the same place I went to. She was told by her employer she couldn't take her vacation because of the state mandated quarantine thing. She paid for it already and she lost out on the money. Yet one of her managers and several co workers went to the same place and came right back to work and didn't quarantine. She threw a fit, understandably and was fired shortly thereafter.

r0yals2012 11-16-2020 10:55 PM

I am hoping to go to Opening Day at the K on April 1 which will be my 30th birthday. I also hope to go to Vegas in April for a birthday trip. My brother is going to Qatar for 4 months so he will be back around my birthday and wants to go to Vegas because he just turned 21. One thing that is a bummer is my niece is due to be born on December 28 and due to the hospital rules my family can't be there and we will have to wait until the baby comes home to see her. I will be watching my other niece though but it would have been cool for her to go and hold her at the hospital and other stuff

Back to purple tier here in Napa county. No indoor dining, wine tasting, etc.

You might have a tough time moving it to next year depending on where you want to have it and when. My cousin got engaged this year and are looking to get married next year. Almost everything in NJ is booked from weddings that were postponed this year.

AnthonyCorona 11-17-2020 06:47 AM

We typically go to El Paso every year for Christmas but it’s the worst city in America for Covid right now. My wife and I have had it and recovered but I don’t think we’re risking getting it a second time. I already have lung issues and Covid was rough on my lungs and the freakin body aches were just awful. Probably staying home this year

I was planning on going to St Louis this past summer for a Cubs vs Cardinals game and as we all know COVID happened.

Not hoping for anything until 2022 maybe even 2024

dodgerfanjohn 11-21-2020 06:40 PM

Have been to Las Vegas twice since Covid began. Wife and I will go again in December for 3 nights.

Not sure much in the way of events will go on. I know they’re allowing certain small venues to operate at marginal capacity.

In OC, Knotts is having “tasting” events. It’s all outdoors with limited capacity. We went to the one in September and it was so well run we’re taking my 78 year old parents for the Christmas one. We couldn’t even get tickets for the fall/Halloween one as it sold out too quickly. If anyone wants to see a really good rundown, this is it:

https://youtu.be/Vu2AYbDFGhQ

The stated lockdowns are ridiculous in California and no ones enforcing it. Most So Cal Sheriffs departments have already stated publicly that they won’t respond to calls that people aren’t wearing masks or are having gatherings at their homes.

I remain convinced as I have been from the start that nearly everyone will get it. The lockdowns postponed that day of reckoning but like people openly flaunted violations of the lockdown orders a few months after the original California lockdowns, this current one will have literally no one obeying. The overlords of this state have zero clue as to the mindset of the peons and it causes them to enact arrogant lockdowns that don’t work.

My money is on the Governor of Nevada not making the same error there. At the same time, I’d be shocked if an 800 person indoor event actually takes place in December in Las Vegas.

Madoka 11-23-2020 02:36 PM

I hoping the results of something will go a certain way, which would then lead to an event that mass media has been denying could/would ever happen. This would then result in a complete meltdown of the entire snowflake population.
