**The Perennial MIKE TROUT Thread**
 

Since we will hopefully be discussing the wonders of Mike Trout for several years to come (and since the 2018 thread has devolved into one member’s personal trash bin), thought it would be good to create a new thread with no expiration date.

As always, kids, please stay off the drugs. This is a drug-free thread.

I have no skin in the game, but I wish Trout would stay put for his entire career. I don't like the concept of superstars (and in this case, the biggest superstar of this generation) 'having' to leave.

The Angels are in LA after all, and someday these ridiculous contracts will be gone. It's not like they are hopeless, they did just win 98 games a few years ago.

Where can he go and win a World Series? That is what he needs. Not sure Philly helps with that.

Angels for life! Not too long ago they had the best record in baseball... they even started the year with the best record for a while. A new manager, getting rid off PooHole, and a couple of pitchers, and they are back in the thick of it.

There's a big rebuild looming and I'm not sure Trout wants to waste more years with Angels. He's been a good soldier-time to follow his own destiny.

He's going to the Braves....Then I woke up.

Off season of 2017-2018 I bought a 2011 PSA 10 Update Trout for $250 and flipped mid season for $650. I thought that card would be in my collection forever but he deal was too good to pass up.

I thought about what a Pujols and Griffey rookie could currently be bought for and made the decision to buy a Trout again down the line. I’m not sure if I’ll try again this offseason or wait a few years. Probably just depends on cash flow at any time

Way to early for the hype. (Need the update prices to keep dropping)

Don’t think it would happen, but the Braves have the team, money, and prospects that could make that work. I hope he stays away from Philly. Worst fans and no way I could root for him at that point. A lot of America would feel the same. Please don’t do it Mike!

Hadn’t considered Trout to the Braves, but it’s an intriguing idea. I don’t hate it.

Could definitely do much worse than that (staying on the Angels, as just one such example).

I’ve been looking for this card for a long time and luckily made a respectable deal with a seller on eBay. It’s not his 1st prospect year or his MLB rookie card, but I fell in love with the red ink autograph and the “LA #2 Pick” inscription. It’s also numbered to only 25.

I think the Topps Chrome Superfractors have been quiet ( I have not sold any) - the Bowman Chrome 2009 and 2011 Supers have both changed hands this year. Ahh, found it - the 1983 style Superfractor Auto.

What year did those shoes release? I have two different pairs from prior releases but have worn them out. Do you know how many different ones hes had? I have the black/white ones from 2 years ago and the all blue one from I believe 3 years ago. Would be nice if he gets a new shoe every year, kinda like Jordan

I’m pretty sure those came out November of 2015. I have the 2, 3, and ASG Edition 5. I like most of the designs, but focus on getting the unique ones with the trout speckle patterns. Those are pretty cool if you ask me. They didn’t do a trout speckle on the 4’s, They chose the ASG im Miami and a camo pattern instead. I hope he continues to get a shoe every year, at least for the foreseeable future.

I am a NY fans (Mets for baseball) and I disagree with Philles' fans being the worst fans. IMO they are actually just irrelevant. They have their legit die hard fans, but I would guess around 60-70% of their "fans" are just bandwagon fans when the team is good (see attendance in the first half of season vs last few weeks). Now Philadelphia Eagles' fans of the other hand... some of the worst I have ever encountered

Maybe because they went from having the 2nd best NL record on August 5th to losing 2/3 of their remaining 45 games and finishing almost in 4th place so they wanted to send a message to the crap organization

If Trout does comes to Philly it's gonna be for his personal reasoning (childhood team, close to home) and not his belief in the organization

Thanks...photo was from when I just got it in from BGS a long time ago...it's been in a graded card sleeve in a box for quite awhile..I will look into those though, thanks!

+1 on the Perfect Fit Sleeves! I put all my graded cards and top loaders in them and seal them with two small pieces of clear postal tape on the back. I love them!

You can't just simply point him there... at least provide him a couple articles about Judge he can read (err, research) so that he can go over there as a certified Judge expert by the weekend :cool:

Ok guys, I’m going to do my “top 12” Trout PC Cards in honor of me finally getting with the times and being able to post pics. I hopefully will not be a bore! Why 12? Well, I couldn’t narrow it down to 10, and probably could’ve done 30, as I like Trout stuff so much..anyhoo...I’ll start with number 12..2009 Bowman chrome refractor. I made this number 12 just to get it out of the way. An iconic card, every Trout collector should try to own one. I paid 2k for this one a couple of years ago before the “boom”:

I only rarely look at Trout prices, but man it's crazy to see how much some of this stuff goes for these days. Props to everyone that got in early and kept. I know there's been 100 threads of people that didn't hold so we don't need to get that going again.

If he can somehow get on a team that can win a World Series, I sure hope the market is strong. I want to see how much more crazy it can get! (I don't own any Trout autos at all, just base 2011/2012 stuff, and it'll probably stay that way).

Number 9..2013 Heritage Action BGS 10.. great looking card, currently a pop 5..I remember selling 3 of these raw for like $20 each, then graded this one:

Number 8..2016 Topps Now MVP Auto/99..I ordered this one when the email came over, total impulse buy. Not sure how the whole Topps Now thing will end up when we look back years from now, but this is his first Now solo Auto. Of note: this card is notorious for streaked autos. From what I determined, right around serial number 70, he must have swapped out pens, as the higher numbered ones have clean autos. Surprisingly there are 2 clean autos on eBay now, both of course higher numbered.

Number 7: 2014 Topps Dynasty. Was fortunate to pull this one back when it came out. I like the ‘14 Design still best to date in the Dynasty series:
