[B]Bowman Mega Box returns to Target stores with exclusive chrome refractors[/B]


The Bowman Mega Box is coming back to local Target stores.

After last year’s exciting debut, the box is back featuring exclusive chrome refractor designs not found anywhere else. Each box will have five packs of 2018 Bowman Baseball cards and two packs of 2018 Bowman Mega Box exclusive chrome cards, which contains five cards in each pack.

2018 Bowman Mega Box will be in Target stores starting May 23.

The 2018 Bowman Mega Box exclusive cards will highlight 100 chrome prospects with five different color refractor parallels of Purple (numbered to 250), Green (numbered to 99), Gold (numbered to 50), Orange (numbered to 25), and Platinum (1-of-1).

Bowman continues to be The Place to Find the Game’s Future Stars with the Mega Box featuring rookies and prospects such as Shohei Ohtani, Ronald Acuña, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and more.

Insert cards in the Mega Box exclusive refractor parallel include ROY Favorites and #BowmanTrending. In addition, 10 prospects will get image special image variations.

Collectors will have a chance to find autographed cards of prospects and on the ROY Favorites design.

Let's see how long they let the presses run on these. Not that it will stop folks from going crazy for them.

Pretty cool looking Acuna auto. Wish it wasn't a sticker, though.

At least Topps gave us the heads up this year! Only the Acuna appears to be a sticker auto. Interesting that the ROY Ohtani card was made especially for this box.

How much over cost are these going to sell for on ebay?
1.5x? 2x?

im assuming, like last year, that the 5 Bowman packs will be just base paper and base chrome, with no shot at parallels

You may recall Michel Baez (Padres) posted pics of Mega refs on his Instagram before he signed them, among other names. None made it into Bowman, so I think they'll be in here.

Ohtani could have a ROY favorite insert auto.

I know it's not a surprise, but it's a bummer Alzolay's Chrome Black Auto 1/1 has faded ink (see pic).

My wife already goes to target often so she'll be my eyes for sure

Yeah, I really like the picture they chose. I'll definitely be looking out for that card. I can live with a sticker as long as the ink doesn't stray off of the sticker. I hope there are non-auto's with this picture also.

I don't care if they crank the presses for this release. Last year was fun and I am looking forward to opening some of this year's product.

I am glad that my local Target sucks so bad with stocking sportscards that I will never be tempted to waste money on these.

The Ohtani is what made these last year. Slim chance there's a base card that fetches $80 out of the gate. I'm sure they'll be fun to open, but I wouldn't get too hyped over them.

Looks like they took all the "1st" logos off these cards.

You're probably correct but we saw a decent amount of guys in last years Megas who were not in the regular Bowman release. Perhaps another look into the future of what Bowman Chrome might have in store

I'll try to limit myself to 1-2 boxes... that is, if I even see them. I haven't come across any Bowman this year at my local Target. Should we expect Walmart will have these online also? That worked out well for me with flagship Bowman this year.

There was no one other than Ohtani that had a mega last year that wasn’t also in the bowman Chrome prospect set. The other 99 has the same card number, a few had different photos.


The ROY set had some differences.

This stuff is going to be horrible. Last year was only big because of Ohtani and then the Judge/Bellinger hype and then continued to rise because of Acuna. The sticker autos provide low value and with the presses running deep on this one it will only water it down more. Good luck to those buying.

My Target has moved iits restrooms to an outside trailer. Supposedly temporarily but we'll see. It might be a candidate for worst franchise in the entire chain.

so it looks like the print run has increased but not by much. Basing this on the fact that this year they will have the same number of cards but parallels will include gold variations /50, which weren't included last year. last year's print run was 75k boxes, i believe(please correct me if i'm wrong). can someone do the math on this years print run or will we need to see the odds to make this determination? regardless, looking forward to this product, especially with the $14.99 price point. digging the image variations and really hoping Ohtani has an auto (but I doubt it).

Meh..Cool little release but anyone thinking this can be anywhere near like last year's isn't paying much attention to the perfect storm of circumstances that made last years Megas so sought after.
It is a nice opportunity for topps to sneak autos in of a few guys who haven't had any yet, that is somewhat intriguing.

For $15 a box I'll take a shot on them

So when they're sold on the secondary market by those who get them before the public can, there'll be a higher profit margin.

Hopefully I can stay away from hunting these and maybe get lucky a time or two...too much running around trying to find regular Bowman to keep it up with this release.

Also hope J.B. Bukauskas has mojo refractors in it so I can at least go for those individually.

Agree with this. Acuna, Guerrero Jr, etc would be nice pulls, but they've all had numerous cards in other products already. I don't think we see another crazy on this product this year. Popular? Sure, I like the cards visually. But no Ohtani equivalent is going to be a big deal

At $15 a box this stuff is a no-brainer win. Whether you're busting/selling, busting/grading or just flipping the sealed boxes for profit.

Whoever has something bad to say about this stuff @ its MSRP of $14.99 doesn't like money.

I certainly don't think it will be a bad product by any means. I'm hoping to be able to find a lot of these. But who would carry the product to the extent Ohtani did last year?

Wrong.

Even without those names, Mega was a deal at 14.99/box.

While it will likely not be near as good, it will still likely increase in price on the secondary market.

This is a fantastic deal at SRP, we will have to see breaks in action to see how much more it will jump. The checklist is likely a bit weaker than last years.

It is Target - so it will not show up on that date at every target - and I suspect it may be early at some.

Need to know the odds to figure that out. The number of variations and parallels doesn't tell us anything because it could be twice as hard to hit color. Based off of other products I would guess an increase of around 25% but there's no way of knowing until odds come out.

Not seeing the draw this year. Won't have an Ohtani like 1st card, sure you may hit some rare parallel and these will certainly be a fun rip at $15, but no way will prices jump like they did last year.

Still going to be easy to buy these up at $15 and flip for $25 in a few weeks.

Any way Topps throws us a Tim Tebow in this or wait until BC?
