He must be killing it in San Diego. lol
Some of the list prices on ebay and myslabs are wishful thinking. I'm holding mine and happy he is out of Washington but really bummed out he went to a West Coast team. I won't get to watch him as much as I used to. He won't come to Philly as often either. Not sure what I think will happen to Juan's cards in the short or longterm being in San Diego. |
I'm moving some of mine. Not really keen on waiting 2 1/2 years hoping for him to become a Yankee or Dodger for value sake.
Let us know what you’re moving. Lots of us are interested! |
What if they dont make the playoffs?

This is the nba, SIR, everyone makes the playoffs |
Lots of nice Sotos hitting the market...and I bet lots of people chomping at the bit go grab some.
Hopefully they don't ask for Covid Comps. lol |

If that were true, myslabs would have sold more than the dozen or so mostly low dollar stuff yesterday and today. |

Why in the world would people that have collected or invested to this point, give up on him now because of his uni? Makes ZERO sense. He played on one of the worst teams in baseball the last 2 years. "Im done...now that he's on a contender". FYI...his game and skills haven't changed. Even if you're a big Nats fan (very few are)...it still makes zero sense. |
Soto in PETCO Park is not very good .241 average with a .433 slugging, don’t be shocked if we are asking is Soto going to get 350 Million after he hits .250 the next two years, I hope he doesn’t because I am a fan but that park kills left handed hitters.

Well for starters, the twitter guy above posted he has no interest in collecting Padre players, and there are others that are now moving duplicates for the same reason on instagram. They are out there. |
Some nice Soto stuff hitting the market recently. Hoping to pick up a few nice PC items soon.
As for PETCO Park, Soto is not the typical left handed hitter and never has been. I'm not worried one bit but feel free to put stock into a stat as antiquated as batting average, I'll be over here enjoying by newly begotten Sotos |
A big door to many new Soto collectors was just opened in SD and surrounding areas. I think now is a good time to divest from Soto on certain cards. This is certainly the most interest and attention he has received in recent memory. All the media attention has been drenched in the superlative

I live and sell locally in San Diego. While there is a lot of hype for Soto cards, as with every hot Padre Soto was selling Hot here in San Diego right behind the Tatis, and Machado cards the last 3 years. You have the now Diehard Padres Fans, who do not necessarily collect All baseball players now wanting Sotos rookies. So there is a sharp increase in the diehard/casual Padre Fan requests. I have local dealers who want to buy RC slabs, so there is premium opportunity to sell above comps for the impatient locals. I may even have to submit the low end RCs (Archives, Heritage, inserts), and Bowman prospect Sotos in to CSG just to get more stuff in slabs to sell to that price point. But the majority of local Collectors and Investors have been buying Soto prior to the Trade. I think the shirts and Jerseys will be nuts the week they come out though! |
Sell Soto
Hold Zimmermann Sell Trea Turner Hold Strasburg Sell Scherzer Hold Robles Sell Harper We had a good run here and now it is over. But selling a player because they changed teams seems extreme. I'm not sure what I'll do about Soto-in-a-Padres-uniform cards, but I still like the player. Also working on some Nats-years Scherzer runs. But if you dont like it, I guess thats it. |

I agree 100%. I'm rooting for and collecting Soto wherever he goes. |
If you bought Soto stuff earlier this year in hopes of a quick flip, I hope you got in at a great price.
If you were planning on holding Soto long term then...hold long term! |
Hold Strasburg
I know the point you were making but this still made me laugh out loud! |

Every one of these "well sell them to me if you're selling!" responses is never actually wanting to buy at a fair price but at cheaper than market price. Every. Single. Time. |

Yea this is also part of what I was getting at earlier. Any heavy Padre collectors(all 6 of them) are likely to already be knee deep in Tatis and not have as much room to buy Soto. Of course there be will be new demand from Padres fans but it's well dampened compared to most teams |
Sell everything to BBases31 it’s all over

You think Tatis' market is mainly just Padres fans? I'd imagine they make up a very small portion of his total market. |
