Those that do a lot of PWE sales currently:

Are you planning on using this?
If so, exclusively? Or are there times where the old fashioned way makes more sense? I am getting 40 cent stamps on eBay, so my 1 card orders are still cheaper that way.

Just wondering what some of the experienced pwe shippers are planning, or what you have experienced if you’ve tried it.

I have been doing PWE for years and I am really excited about this. Originally I had 2 seller accounts so I could keep PWE sales separate and keep my TRS status on my other account. Once managed payments came along it was easier to just consolidate both accounts and then I lost my TRS. Additionally with the increase in new scammers to the hobby and USPS slowdowns I personally had a ton of PWE's go "missing". This is a fantastic solution to both keeping TRS and having proof of shipping.

YES, This is huge for those that qualify for TRS but couldnt get the badge because there was no tracking on PWE. I'm excited as this new system will definitely earn me the TRS badge and benefits at some point.

I'm still using 40 cent stamps off eBay for all items $4.99 and below. $5.00 - $20 will ship the new eBay envelope experience. Over $20 goes bubble mailer.

Ok, yeah this is along the lines of what I’ve been thinking.

Just bought a fresh coil of forevers—I think using those on the low value stuff makes sense.

I will stick to what I have been doing as far as numbers 1.00 shipping charge anything under 10.00 goes PWE using this anything over 10.00 goes in a bubble mailer.

Just packaged 58 this way. Took me a while but I'm sure I'll figure out a faster way

Its taking me a few seconds longer to do it mainly because of the extra step of resizing the labels. I have always cut and taped so thats the same

I had a previous system where I printed invoices, then envelopes, then packaged- took me about an hour for 50. New system I do the same but have been walking through doing each label (which involves cutting them out now). I'm going to try bulk on my next go around, and will more than likely get a label printer. New way took about twice the time, but I'm pretty good at figuring out efficiencies so I'll get better with it in the future.

This is essentially how I am going to roll. To this point anything $7.50 and under went PWE and anything above went bubble mailer. I'll continue to use my discounted stamps (old, unused postage bought at a discount) on cards under $7.50. Anything above up to about $15 will be PWE with tracking. Above $15 will be bubble mailer.

For those that don't have a thermal printer, you might want to pick up one of these. I have one, not this one or brand. But makes cutting down printed labels on plain paper a breeze and really quick. Beats using scissors to cut the labels. And if just cutting paper the blade lasts a long time, at least on mine.

I am betting that would slow me down. I am pretty proficient with the cutting part.

Absolutely 100%. I didn't get a thermal printer until Christmas. I can't believe how much faster I whip these out. Huge time saver if you're hand writing customer name and address on envelopes.

I use a laser i bought 10 cartridges last year for 10.00. Each one goes about 2500 sheets. I get paper from overstock sellers for about 2.00 a ream.

Csmontie 01-27-2021 05:27 PM

I just printed out the label and cut it from the sheet and placed on a PWE .... as I couldnt figure out my printer I'm assuming this will still work, right?

tier1dc 01-27-2021 05:56 PM

can these labels be printed with brother QL-800?

If those are the 2 inch wide labels then I don't think so. That option was grayed out when I went to print.

I have bought some cards in the past which were shipped PWE and came dented during the shipping. For this reason I have generally not preferred PWE and usually buy from sellers using bubble mailers but now it seems a lot of sellers may move to this for cheap cards like i buy.

Does anyone know what can cause a card to get dented in a PWE, is it the machine they are run through? I have also had cards dented in bubble mailers where its clearly during shipping as the bubble mailer and top loader have a dent in the same place but it is way less common with bubble mailers.

Droppon floor and stepped on something heavy put on top of it. Lots of things could cause a dent. I have sent thousands PWE and cannot recall when the last damage claim I had with one so any damage is real rare.

Writing this from buyer perspective when it happens I don't bother filing any claim or anything because the cards I buy are very cheap and its not worth it to possibly get on a seller's bad side. And often times the damage is very small, but it is there, usually its a small dent on the surface which is why i thought it may be something from a machine.

I think i should be more open to PWEs from all the info i have seen on here, you're right that it is not that common to be damaged. As a seller i think i also may try this out since I have mostly low end cards when i sell.

for those looking at envelopes do you think smaller is better? I'm looking at some small brown kraft envelopes on amazon and they are 3.625 x 5.125 and you get 100 for about $12. for a few bucks more you can get 5x7 but i think smaller may be better - less shifting around? I figure brown envelopes may protect a little better than the cheap white ones at the dollar store. The example ebay gave in their FAQ looks to be a more rigid cardboard mailer.

I use standard 3x6 envelopes that you can get at Wal-mart for 100 for 2.00 with self adhesive labels. No need in getting fancy with PWEs you are often needing to find the cheapest safest methods to ship to keep costs down this is one.

I went to Dollar General and got these for 10 cents a piece. Holiday cards are great when stores want to get rid of them. BTW, it was 10 cents for the pack of 32. ;) The envelope/holiday card and top loader with card are still under 1 oz. I would recommend looking at places like Dollar General or CVS to see if they are trying to get rid of stock.

Are you sending them in the cards to give some suppourt or just using the envelopes? If using the card becareful doing that. You could actually insult some buyers. If their religion does not celebrate Christmas.

Another way to get cheap envelopes is check estate sales and such. Last ones I bought were 2 500 count boxes of self adhesive security envelopes for 4.00 each, these run about 20.00 at Sams. You can find lots of office supplies this way.
