Made my first direct submission to PSA over the weekend. Just 1 card (used their Value XL Grading Special they're running this month with $25 first time promo code discount...turnaround is supposed to be 20 business days).
Order type: Value XL Grading Special Oct '24 (dual service) # of cards: 1 Order shipped: 10/19/24 Order delivered: 10/21 (less than 48 hours from MD to CA! Not bad USPS!) Order received per PSA: 10/21 Order Prep: 10/22 Research & ID: 10/22 Grading: 11/1/2024 Assembly: QA1: QA2: Grades: Shipped: Est Completed: 11/12
Finally some activity. Man, I'm hoping the preview images they uploaded are with the card still in the penny sleeve or else I think I'm in huge trouble. Lol edit: OK, read the fine print and I guess the preview images are with the card still in the card saver/penny sleeve. Whew! |

I think the scanner surface is pretty beat up. I just got this card back as a PSA-10 (as expected, it was perfect), but the PSA raw scan looks heavily scratched: |
Huh Is submitted a bunch of cards in person at NYCC. Getting one value XL back but it looks like it's coming from Cali. First time I've had it come from Cali as usually its easier for them to just drive over the subs from NY to NJ.
Wonder why these went there as they were TCG cards too |
Okay I know everyone says this but OMG I just 2 orders back where the grading was HORRIBLE 30 cards ZERO 10s 14 7s! I inspect cards pretty well I know they aren't 10s but 9 at worst 8. Zero 10s 5 9s 6 8s 14 7s (5 OC cards I expected those ). Then another order of 26 that was similar. Something has def changed in the last couple of months. I had heard it before but you never know till you see it yourself.

What kind of cards? Did they ship from Jersey? |
What kind of cards? Did they ship from Jersey?
Sports cards modern haven't shipped just grades availible. |
Yeah, looks like some of the Ohtani stuff has gone down a bit since last week. Has anyone had a positive experience after their cards had been in green checkmark assembly for more than two weeks?
Honestly, even if they were doing that, probably at best his values held and more likely is they might have even dropped a tiny bit.
|
PSA didn't scan 2 of the 6 cards post slabbing. I sent a message same day asking for them to catch it, no dice. Not worth sending back in even on their dime.
|
I said I wouldn't use them again, but I lied. :p
I sent in a dozen cards with their 50 - 70's special. I only send in cards to PSA that have a chance to grade two above collector's grade from these era's. 9's from 70's, 8's from 60's, and 7's from 50's. Typically I always get about 25% of cards that hit a high grade and it just takes 1 or 2 cards to pay for the order. |
PSA is still doing 1.4 million cards a month with a 4-6 week turnaround on bulk. I dont know who is sending in that much crap and how much money they are losing.

Just go to YouTube, type PSA Reveal, and you will see the nonsense people are sending in. Fine for PC stuff, but these are people trying to flip and now their card is worth less money than in raw condition after grading fees, shipping, and any seller fees. I sent in 12 cards to PSA for the 50's and 70's special and I spent about 30 minutes looking over the cards closely. After shipping and grading fees for a special, it is still over $20 a card. |

Green check mark for a week, just waiting for that debit notification to pop up.
Speaking of nonsense, most of mine are 90s MtG cards that have OK value in a 10, but it’s all for PC. Just hoping I get a chill grader. |
I dropped off an 11 card order at the DCS on Saturday. They told me it’d be two weeks before it goes in the system. I would have at least liked it to show up as arrived on their site.

Sounds like expectation management. That's the same speech I got when I dropped off at an PSA drop-off event a few weeks ago. Gave it to them on Saturday. Got logged as "Order received" on Tuesday, 3 days later. |

I am debating whether to send in some stars (e.g. 54 Ted Williams; 56 Clemente; 56 Jackie) that would likely grade in the 3-5 range. |

Big stars don't follow the same price increases typically. What I am talking about is lesser stars, where the PSA registry is important for set collecting. For cards like this, you should grade wherever you think the card will grade higher between PSA and SGC. PSA tends to be more technical in their grade and SGC tends to reward eye-appeal. A sharper off-centered card should be sent to PSA and a centered high-eye appeal with more flaws should be sent to SGC. :)! |

At shows I see (mainly kids) have PSA 6-8 of NBA 3rd string PG on a losing team and think it’s worth $2k cause he recently scored 10 points in a blowout loss. |
