By the time the raffle was going the box prices were $150-200. To try to risk getting cancelled when there was already a $200 profit on two boxes would seem crazy. But I would guess there were a few that would try.
Just got a message from eBay seller iracles wanting to cancel the two boxes I purchased from them Saturday morning. I am asking that they reconsider and to do the right thing and honor the sale. I will report back.
What is the seller's reasoning for the cancellation? |
Not even close to the worst 3-box break in this thread.
Perhaps....but you still have 270 base cards and six refractors, for which you paid $165+shipping. And base cards are still selling for $1+ each. So even your horrible 3-box break should net you $300+ if you sell everything.... |

Sold my three boxes via ebay last night and they are on their way to the buyer.
Temptation to open them has successfully been resisted. |

Looks like possibly a bot seller and not an MC member. Not sure how many were purchased but maybe possible orders were cancelled? Item not showing up in sold listings either. |

Got shipping notice for my two raffle boxes. Smartpost will probably have them here by Christmas. At current box prices, I think it still makes sense to bust them. There is just too much value and too great of odds of pulling big cards to sell sealed.

Claiming their order was cancelled by topps. Valid reason if true, but also could be used as an excuse to not sell so I’m working on it.
What is the seller's reasoning for the cancellation?
|
Yeah I was more responding to the comments about what happens if Luis Robert starts slow and his cards drop. What you are referencing in terms of sellers cancelling box sales is a different matter.
To your point, the difference between an eBay 2-box chump seller and Chris Park for example, is the pursuit of opportunity. When Blowoutcards sells out of a hot product they immediately buy more at a higher price. When they sell out of that, they immediately buy more at a higher price. They'll buy at 200, 300, 400, 500...as long as Finest keeps going up they'll keep buying and before you know it their small initial investment has compounded into a massive profit. If more sellers focused on re-investing profits and building capital they wouldn't need to sweat over the couple hundred bucks they left on the table with the first sale. They'd instead be buying these at 400 today and hoping to sell for 500 in a few days. Just rinse and repeat over and over again until you've squeezed every ounce of juice from the fruit and then find the next product to make money on. That's how sellers can maintain honest reputations. Instead, too many are short sighted and will lie and manipulate buyers over 2 stinking boxes because they have tunnel vision over a small amount of money rather than looking ahead to their next opportunity.
Thank you for your reply. The thing is, there are a lot of people like me who are not normally sellers (I think the last card I sold was 2-3 years ago) who are thinking about selling our two boxes. I'm about as honest as they come and would never back out on a sale, but if I decide to sell my two boxes once they arrive later on this week, and the price then later drops significantly, then I would fully expect to get a refund request. I'll use BIN/BO to try and control who I sell to, but the risk is still there. Because the only people buying at these inflated $350+ prices are newbie flippers who care primarily about profit. I don't think too many collectors are buying at these prices. |
A box just auctioned for $378!
Some were selling near that yesterday. Hitting a bit of a wall at $400. |
I noticed that as well. Not sure why it wouldn’t be showing. Bought and paid for on Saturday. They actually haven’t opened up the cancellation request just sent me a message asking to cancel.

Make them share the cancellation email. |

First thing I asked for!

This whole backing out for a few hundred really annoys me. Are they that desperate for cash? I honored all my P2020 purchases, yeah I took a bath on some, but it is what it is.

Update -seller is saying they attempted to purchase 6 and Topps cancelled them all. Showed me the money being sent back to their PayPal but says they did not get a cancellation email from Topps. Do we know for sure that if your order gets cancelled from Topps that they email a reason along with it?
Go in at $300+ on Robert now or wait it out?
On base? Wait. Too high, in my view. Unless becomes Acuna. Tons haven’t received boxes yet. |
I sold three boxes for $125 each. Feels shitty now, but went through with all of the sales.

He already has how many RCs? And there's still chrome and sapphire to go, plus there's the sps from Series 2. |

Credit to you. Wish I bought them. |

Reason I got last night that they didn’t ship and may have been cancelled (sounds very clear they tried to buy more than 3). Waiting an update. This particular seller to me sold at least 11, maybe 15. |

His top three will be this, sapphire and maybe his SSP from Series 2. And don’t forget his first one with the RC logo was opening day and those were very condition sensitive. |

I sold my Robert base for 220 yesterday, no regrets. Didnt want to worry about potential returns. Covered my 3 boxes plus some, only card sold so far. :D No chance it stays above $300 once everyone gets their boxes imo. His refractors on the other hand... |
