The difference between last and 2nd to last is such a huge % difference (25% vs 13.5%) surely someone is going to work to lose our. Anaheim seems the best bet at this point - just need to make sure to start the young guys in goal

The Red Wings are my #1 choice to where I hope he goes with Anaheim being second, but distantly.
After that, I guess it's the Hawks, but I'm not a fan of him going to SJ or Columbus at all. JMO.

Anaheim in good position if that's the case. Would be awesome to see him paired up with Zegras. I'm in Chicago so naturally prefer Chicago the most but I'm not really a diehard Blackhawks fan as I'm not from here so doesn't mean as much to me. But, I'm sure I'd become a much bigger fan if they do get Bedard! Columbus would be the worst of the bunch just in terms of excitement I think but he'll still do fine in the hobby if he performs.

Hockey has to be the only of the four major sports where neutral people actually root for generational prospects to the huge market, massive franchises. It's weird to me.

Imagine baseball fans rooting for a generational prospect to go to the Yankees? Or basketball fans rooting for the Lakers to get the #1 pick? Would never happen.

If you're a true neutral fan, one would think you'd want to see Bedard end up in an Arizona, Columbus, San Jose type location as opposed to the Detroit, Chicago, and Montreals who've won plenty in the past and already get all of the media coverage regardless. It would be way more entertaining to see Bedard go to a team without the prestige or the history and try to turn them into a powerhouse.

It's not like the olden days where you only get a few games on TV a week and they were only the marquee franchises. Regardless of where Bedard goes, its easier than ever to watch him play. Even if he ends up in Columbus, you can find a way to watch every single game if you want.

VCR currently in the #8 spot with 5 games to go so anything is possible if they don't fall out of the bottom 10. Even from the #13 spot they could move up to get the #4 overall pick of Fantilli, Carllson or Michkov which would be a huge win.

The problem is that large numbers of fans "look down" to some extent on all the warm-weather franchises in non-traditional markets. That's why a team like Tampa Bay has never been able to develop a national following despite their on-ice success. People just don't equate Tampa with hockey. Same thing with places like Arizona, Anaheim, Vegas, Florida, etc.

I understand what you're saying but with some of these teams owners/staff, they're not the best place for a kid like this, a generational talent.
Look at the B.S. that happened, and has happened for a while now with the likes of Vancouver.
Going to a team like that can ruin a kid, ruin his career, imo
Detroit with Steve Yzerman running the show, who has hockey smarts, unlike the dingleberries in Vancouver, will bring the best out in this kid.

If Yzerman is going to get 4+ years leeway for his "Yzerplan" in Detroit, then it's probably too early to judge Grier in SJ after basically 2.

Both inherited similar messes from previous GM's who kicked the can down the road to try and win with their cores.
