Is there a worse winning % to WS won in the last 25 years (besides Braves)? They have to be at least top 5 in disappointments over that span.
He is worth that. I just question he can do it.
The successful comeback rate after 2 TJ surgeries is pretty low. I am interested to see how Buehler comes back next season.
He hasn’t had two TJ surgeries |
He hasn’t had two TJ surgeries
Yes he did even if they don't want to officially call the second one Tommy John. He had two surgeries on his throwing elbow to repair ucl |

It’s not the same. |

It's semantics because his agent didn't want to call it Tommy John going into free agency |
Actual headline in Sports Illustrated right now:
“Report of Shohei Ohtani's Dodgers Contract Being Deferred Led to Bobby Bonilla Jokes“ Could someone just take that magazine out behind the barn and end the misery already? |
He won't pitch until 2025 according to his Doc, but can hit as of Opening Day 2024.

sorta like what Bryce Harper went through ... :coffee: |

Even though they haven’t said so, the recovery timeline says he has. His recovery timeline is showing a second TJ surgery. A repair he would be expected to pitch this season sometime. I expect since he signed already this should come to light. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Imagine if his mystery surgery keeps him out from pitching for all of 2024 and then he blows out his elbow in 2025 Spring Training requiring TJS. |

Yeah, the semantics around not calling it a TJ are intentional. Ulnar Collateral tear...he had surgery...ElAttrache could have used a cadaver or something else thus it wouldn't be a true "TJ" surgery. No different than if someone had a second ACL surgery and chose to use something other than the hamstring or patella to reconstruct. But the recovery and implications for Ohtani's long-term usage are the same. |
Guess who lives 15 minutes from the Dodgers/White Sox Spring Training facility?
That's right - Me! Gonna be some lunch time trips for this non-Dodgers fan Very excited for Ohtani to be a Dodger |
First, lol. I mean this contract is horrible. 700 million dollar player whose already had two surgeries, and may just be a DH. I get that he will sale some jerseys but with how much players get hurt these days, just way too much risk based on the rewards.
Guy is a great player but 700 million is just dumb
I totally agree and the Dodgers at anything close to this price were bidding against themselves. The story of Toronto getting him was a joke this is team that hasn't signed an elite free agent in decades. |
Not sure if this question was asked yet, simply for BO forum opinions. Does Ohtani becoming a Dodger persuade or dissuade Yamamoto from signing with them?

Money might. He's expected to be the second biggest contract this year after Ohtani. Dodger wallet is deep but how deep? |
Price of cardboard just went up

This time they just repaired it without completely replacing the ligament. I'd probably feel better about it if they fully replace it. But they also didn't say it wasn't TJ, his agent just didn't want to say it was. Either way Eovaldi and Smoltz are the only two pitchers to have the same injury twice and come back close to where they were before. Other guys like Moyer have been effective throwing 85 mph. But I also think Ohtani is a good enough pitcher to come back still be a very good pitcher if say his velocity is down to 91-93 mph |

Well, maybe not the face, but at least #2. There’s also a comfort level of playing with a fellow countrymen superstar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
