Would people actually pay a premium on a card that was serial numbered /17000?
This is why I despise grading modern cards.
depends on how good he winds up being |
depends on how good he winds up being
Does it? Do you think more people will want one or more people will want to own multiples of the card? I'm always fascinated with the logic that if there are xxx million new collectors and yyy percentage have to add it to their collection then 17000 will be low. I find this faulty and a pumpers reasoning. To many factors could work against this. Also, I don't think we have a healthy card market when a good chunk of the tables at a show have PSA 10 US300's available for sale. Reminds me of the 1990's when everyone was selling Shaq. |

We won’t know the answer to this for quite some time .. 2018 Topps Update is a funny product ( not like it tells jokes / funny meaning odd ). There was obviously a very large print run, yet the wax keeps going up and the key singles stay hot like there wasn’t . |

I don't think it's unhealthy that the most popular, liquid card in the hobby is a part of every dealer's inventory. There's nothing wrong with the supply level, it's still a $170 card. It doesn't need to be a $400 card right now |

The thing is this could have been your first post without parenthesis. But you are so addicted to them you found a completely superfluous spot to add them. |

Right now, we have availability on ebay and we have psa 10 pop counts. Its not a mystery to anyone as opposed to the early 90s. So in spite of the transparency as far as the pop count goes, there's been higher prices. This is just a natural pull back. Some are pulling back more because of performance. It is what it is. |
Anyone who thinks Soto isn't going to be completely fine has no idea about the sport of Baseball.
It's honestly tiresome to constantly see the bashing of Soto, Acuna or any other young star when they have a rough stretch.
Yeah, this day to day reactionary crap is really getting quite old. I love my vintage collection because I don't have to worry about this type of idiocy. That being said, Let's Go Juanny! The resurrection begins tonight! |

At least we won’t be competing for the same Cards! |
What if we're sure he's going to be fine and can also observe that for the first two months he's performing so under expectations that his cards have dived? Is that ok by you?
No. Thanks for checking in. |

Oh don't get me wrong, I've got more than one toe dipped in the modern pool, and if the Soto PSA 10 keeps dropping, I'm all in for a couple more. It makes the game exciting for me now to dabble in modern. I just don't freak out if the dude has a rough month or two. Much less a rough week or two. |
Forget the cards. I just want to see him perform and have fun. That’s what being a fan is all about. I think many of us are in Soto at a level that we’ll never lose money.
Yours are listed at 30 dollars above recent sales prices?
How's that a big discount?
Really? Wow he is in a nosedive then. I guess its worse than I originally thought. I'll have to slash prices again from the salad days of $300 per PSA 10 |

And even those of us who rebought at all-time highs did so with profits from other Soto flips. |
This was a great place to talk about Jon Soto. But lately some angry mofos have showed up here out of nowhere.
is 17,000 "a lot"?
It's not the most. We've work to do! US250 gem, 18,266 Zion prizm gem, 17,686 US300 gem, 17,222 ja, 16k On the podium? What else is high-pop in gem mint ten? Tatis '19 topps is only 13.5k and that came in factory sets. 22k+ graded, so just the lower gem rate holding it back. |
HAHAHAHA

I know prizm gets no love but how does a pop < 50 psa 10 chronicles prizm soto sell for the same as a pop 18k
