Saw the topps platinum and the Bowman auto Superfractor at the card show in Raleigh today. So crazy.
What was the ask on the platinum? $5K? |
What was the ask on the platinum? $5K?
didn't even ask. crazy thing is that the platinum was right beside the superfractor and I didn't even notice it until he pointed it out. He bought the superfractor from the guy who bought it on Goldin. |
This is a GREAT post that could be used in many other threads as well. I might add that this "season" is so jacked up that the opposite might come into play as well. A lot of players seemingly hitting WAY above their head. I personally see 2020 as a wash, and look forward to things getting back to "normal", both reality and hobby-wise.
2020 is an outlier, hopefully. None of this is going to matter in a year and a half anyway if they can't get their heads together on the CBA.
It goes both ways. A guy has a hot stretch and people are booking their hof induction weekend reservations. From what little I've seen of him, he has enormous raw potential, but he has to show he can hit and walk consistently. We're also seeing with Vlad that they don't pitch to you the same way in the minors that they do in the majors. You have to adjust. Since it is such a short season, one big game can change everything. |
My view on Robert is every young player goes through this, you have to hunker down and work your way through it. The great ones take these slumps and turn them into great career lessons and it makes them better. The rest fold.

Ugh...he needs to break outta this. At this point the defense can't outweigh this slump for ROY voting.

He is overhyped.

Yeah I’d say his ROY candidacy is pretty much over. He’s still gonna be a stud, but this slump has been EPIC.
|
He is Jackie Bradley Jr with more pop
|
Not too often do you see a .363 OPS and it isn't a pitcher
Today is the day he breaks free.
2-3 (+walk) with a HR and 2 SBs.
Welllllllp Missed that one. |
Why does everyone care so much if he wins ROY? Its his first year in the majors in a weird season, basically his second year in the US playing baseball, and he is going through a major slump. If people want to jump ship and dump his stuff let me know.
It’s also pretty cool to see so many people hoping and wishing and then glad when a player struggles. A lot of solid people on these forums. |
With the playoffs clinched they should just put Robert in the top 3 of the batting order, boost his confidence by giving him more responsibility, what do they have to loose. If you add a good Robert to the list the team might be able to win the World Series, try to get him there prior to the regular season being over.

The other thing putting him higher in the order will do is give him some protection behind him. |

Guys ahead of him are hitting to well. Sox are trying to win a Pennant here. He needs to hit himself out of it. Hopefully he takes this as a huge learning experience. |

I agree and admit I bought my share at high prices when topps series 2 came out but let’s be honest and blame the price “fixers” for pumping up the prices to a level that was absurd then blame those like me who bought into the stupid prices. My difference is I’m a white Sox fan and collector not looking to sell. |

I'm fairly certain he'll get healthy & find his stroke against the Cubs. |
6 for his last 58. They need to move him up in the order. He was raking.

If anyone wants to dump their Roberts let me know. Thanks!

Some of the hot takes in the last few pages of this thread are going to be fun to revisit later.

Roberts is not a major leaguer. Sell to those who don't know true baseball talent.
|
Dripping with raw talent but he’s dreadful right now. Catch the hype!
