Yeah, I can see how the standard BMOC could seem underwhelming. From my vantage point, I've always admired the uniqueness of the design, the extensive die-cuts, and the vibrant colors. There aren't many other insert designs similar to it (which, admittedly, is probably evidence that the design isn't widely considered good). I plan on eventually adding one to my collection. I like the Z-Peat better, it's shinier. Gonna pick up one of those eventually, too.
The 1996-97 Platinum Medallion base MJ, however, is one of my 10 favorite cards of all time. The simplicity of the design, the action shot (and Big Dog's expression), just the right amount of shininess for a parallel.
I have to admit, the Jordan pic is far bettet than the D. Robinson one though. It does make a difference. I'm already regretting selling my 96 Platinum MJ. Bought it raw and it graded an 8 (at least it was legit). Needed the $$$ at the time unfortunately. I'm with you, the Platinum is right up there. |
Good work. I was watching a ton of stuff tonight but it all went bonkers and I got shut out. Nice work.
Thanks man Yeah I hear you as many cards went bonkers I bid on a PWCC 98-99 Molten Metal Fusion MJ as well but it ended for WAY more than I was willing to pay for it Oh well  You win some, you lose some |
I picked up 3 but no bolds
I believe from 1996/97 they started to not print odds on numbered cards such as flair legacy, ex credentials etc.
Remember back then I was like 12 years old and hoping to pull 1 of those numbered cards I still have some old packs from 96 to 97 (Singapore stop selling basketball cards and switch to MTG / Pokémon)... would take some photos for this thread later today!
This should be ex-2000 The first SPX pack pull Jordan auto (ok pack pulled redemption) Fleer Tiffany first appearance; paper stock pack Never seen the triple threats from this year... long odds... Back then they listed the odds for hot packs; 1:72.. odds for other inserts -> random.. 1:3 to 1:37 Hoops being a cheaper product; autographics have way longer odds than other fleer products 1998 SPX; 3rd year... anyone saw before the piece of history trade |

Here's my most recent BOLD pickup (Now at 18 total :)) I havent seen one of these show up for sale in 3 years (either graded or raw) and feel very fortunate to obtain one :) Its the "BOLDEST BOLD" at 1:112,500 packs While I've picked up MANY Jordan inserts over the past few years, this is by far my personal favorite without question :D While inserts are nice, cards like this are just legendary Card is absolutely stunning in person |

Yeah I can assume it. Always nice hitting PC cards you don t have. When they are rare even better o: Pulling a red label must feel like a big Jackpot O: |

1998-99 Topps Gold Label Red Label 1:49.670 to hit the Jordan
I cant find the odds on these anywhere. Beckett lists the odds for the Black labels, though not the reds. Where did you find this info?
Awesome card. Congrats on the great pick up!
Thank You :) Love this card man :D |
Looking for info on the 98-99 molten metal xplosion cards.
Beckett says there are 3 tiers as far as pack odds go. Jordan is #141 and part of the “supernatural xplosion” group that is 1:60 There are 150 cards in the set Does that make it a 1:9,000 pack hit? Or do the different tiers affect things? I think the first 100 cards were 1:2.5 The next group is 1:18 And then Jordans group is 1:60 Thanks in advance |

1998-99 Topps Series 2 had different odds for different versions of packs. For Red label, the 1:4967 odds are for 11 card packs. 8 card packs were 1:6830 and jumbo (40) card packs 1:1366. I don't have any 16 card packs right now to check odds but those were closer to 1:3400
|
If you can show the odds of all different packs, i will average them and add it to the list...........certainly looks like it will be a bold card..........I pulled 2 black label myself, cool card
1998-99 Topps Series 2 had different odds for different versions of packs.
Noticed an error with the 96-97 Maximum Metal, there were 20 cards in the set, not 10, so it should be 1:3,600. (1:180 packs).
Part of me hates to bump this since it's overpriced as it is, but yea, slight correction needed. |

If that's the case, good memory. I had no idea. |
Ha, only remember because someone from the boards was thinking of buying a metal box and asked about the inserts available in each series.
Mr Fancypants, I'll try to scan them tomorrow for you. |
Anybody have any info on post 117?
