I have been watching this thread with interest--as my wife told me my card collecting would never amount to much. Due to the rising prices, I have decided to sell a few items up on ebay to see what happens. My question is this--At what price point do you add insurance to the card?
By the way, if I sell then the prices are going to go up---if I hold the prices are sure to fall.
$500 and higher |
The aficionado power surge cards are nice. How rare are they?
They are numbered. Are you talking about the base? |
They are numbered. Are you talking about the base?
The base. |
The base.
The Forza and Meteor are the rare cards for aficionado. Meteor is a case hit. Rest all have parallel cards. |
Definitely seeing decent bumps across the board in older key issues. Last night I saw PSA 6 Zidane Foot 91/92 rookie go for $430, that was a $200 item last year, $150 two years ago. The top 20-ish all timers minus the big 4 (Pele, Maradona, Messi and Ronaldo) were probably the most comparatively undervalued guys with the big 4 and top young players making big strides.

Does anybody think that with the restarting of the Bundesliga Saturday, if players like Sancho and Havertz and the like have a great game, will their prices skyrocket even more? Im only asking because with the recent trends in prices and no sports, would people overreact to just 1 game? If so, would it affect Sancho and Havertz more, or smaller rookies such as McKennie and Sargent?

I think it’s highly likely that the market will overreact even if it’s not logical. The whole world is starved for live competition. Sancho has been hot and Havertz’s cards have skyrocketed recently out of virtual hobby obscurity (he just popped on the radar for non-soccer people). I’m going to say this again, buy Havertz’s Bundesliga Chrome while it’s still cheap. Optic base is everywhere, Chrome is not. Optic parallels and holos absolutely, but the chrome base is a real value buy right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm pretty sure this is a significantly lower print run than the Mbappe chrome base from 17-18 Champions League (~10k). Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk |

Stated pack odds. 10k is correct for Mbappe TC base RC. |
Nice to know. Can we know the refractor count based on that?
Should be somewhere between 550-585 base Mbappe refractors, based on stated pack odds and color vs base refractor collation in a typical box. Add that to the stated 585 color refractors, and you're talking ~1,1000-1,200 total Mbappe chrome refractors. |
Side note: looks like BO ran out of their first 4 cases for Chronicles and reloaded 3 more at a higher price (140 vs 120). I was able to get the next to last from the first load, figured it would be a decent rip at under MSRP (with the May coupons).
I don't remember the last time a mid-end soccer release went up in price on pre-sale. Not in BO or anywhere else. When something that has as little hype as Chronicles does something like that, you know the soccer market is for real. |

Yes - 1000 PR on refractors. |

Would make sense for the US guys, i.e. McKennie, Sargent, and Reyna to see significant price bumps if they perform given they're American and I'm sure at some point 2022 WC hype will pick up. |

My thinking, although being new to soccer cards...is if one of these guys who’s prices are soaring or are an American rookie, score or have a great game Saturday or Sunday, will we see people rush to eBay and start buying everything they can. |

If they make the front page headline of ESPN.com or Sportscentre then it will definately help the cause I'll say that. The more publicity the better! |

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Seeing those numbers makes me so happy that I picked up the two cases of 2018-19 TC Bundesliga. They should be in this weekend. Then let the fun begin. It's crazy to think that I could be the only person in the USA to list a Havertz base RC on eBay this weekend. There's only a couple right now and they are all overseas. Did no one in America bust this stuff or are all these Kai's hiding in a box of commons that most people have forgotten about? Man, I hope they open card shows back up soon. Not a lot of soccer at most of them, but time to hit the common boxes and raid them if you find them. Could be a lot of possible gems and most dealers probably won't take the time to look through a stack of a few hundred cards after you pull them to check to see who you picked out. |

99.99% of people in the USA have never heard of Kai Havertz....heck 98%+ have probably never heard of the Bundesliga. I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable about soccer (I've been a Newcastle, Fiorentina, and Borussia Dortmund fan since the 90's), and I hadn't even heard of him until a couple of days ago when someone mentioned his name on this thread. |

I'm a big Bayern fan. So I have been hearing of him for the past couple of years, and there's a lot of talk about how good he is and could be. He's definitely one to watch. |

All donruss minus 1 chrome bundesliga rc. Ive followed soccer for 25 years and i love the Bundesliga. Still can’t get over Leverkusen never winning the league. |

McKennie’s RR cards have the most potential IMO. Sargent has USA immaculate RC autos while McKennie’s are with Schalke. I think those have a lot of LT value (disclaimer, I own 8). If you’re banking on the USMNT hype train, Weah has more talent than a Sargent IMO. Health is his issue as he barely played this year. But I think he is worth the gamble as well. Still waiting on my Optic autos from Panini... |
Havertz Bundesliga Blue Chrome Refractor listed for $200 right now. Curious to see how long it sticks around.
I would still buy Pulisic personally if you are going the USMNT route. Injuries haven’t helped him so far at Chelsea, but the talent is definitely there and he’s still very young. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Here's a nice article on Kai.
