Agreed, but the choice should come down to what you're looking to do with it. If it's for a personal collection, by all means pick the one that YOU like the most.

If he continues at his current pace, both will be iconic though!

Gatorade bath, imo. But it's a tough choice.

Go with the rarer card with the great photo (that photo is an early indication of how special Soto is--how many 19 yo rookies earn a Gatorade bath?)...

Or go with the BCA with his great autograph but that terrible photo?

I don't own either of them, but personally, the one I want is the Gatorade bath.

In terms of value, who knows which one wins out in the long run? BCAs are top dog right now. Maybe they always will be.

But if BCAs start to fall out of favor a little bit, perhaps because some prominent guys are featured in a major league uniform they barely or never played in (Tatis, Treat Urner) or maybe because some guys have godawful signatures, or quizas porque it is discovered in the long run that autos often fade when displayed... maybe rare non-auto stuff pulls ahead. Only time will tell.

These are the top cards (save for rare parallels), so you can’t go wrong either way. The Bowman Chrome auto would be more right, of course, but the Gatorade Bath will be similarly iconic.

Oh man, tough one ..I think the BCA holds more value in the end .. but I think the more sought after card for Soto collectors will be the splash based off of limited supply (300 I’ve been told). I know when I first saw the splash It was a must have right away kinda feeling.

All the Soto’s in the PWCC auctions last night went super cheap. Couldn’t keep my eyes open to bid on them all so I only won 1.

Grabbed another 18 update chrome refractor Roookie Debut. I think they are undervalued under 1K.

These went lower than expected at $1025 and $1026, and a far cry from the high of ~$1400. Still great price for a 2nd year card.

It’s that consignment scare off factor. Also they end kinda late as mentioned above, i fell asleep watching the second one too.

I have a quartet of BCAs and no Gatorade Bath updates. Given the opportunity, I’d probably trade one straight up. It is a tough call. I’d lean BCA just because first chrome auto is a sort of a hobby/industry standard. I have very little doubt that SSP RC will appreciate in lock step, but I have zero doubt about the BCA if that makes sense.

Also (and this is me having been in the hobby in the 90s) it is much much harder to fake a chrome auto than it is a topps base card. And maybe that will be something we run into soon.

What is the “consignment scare off factor?” I’m genuinely curious. I was surprised the numbers last night were that low and wonder if there is a rational explanation other than values are diving a bit before they (hopefully) go up during spring training.

Most likely that people are shilling the auction. Personally, I can't stand that PWCC clumps all the player auctions to end at the same time. Makes it very hard as a buyer to target what you want and it probably hurts prices for a seller. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I agree. When I saw like (between chrome and base) dozens ending within an hour of each other, it was clear prices would drop. And they did. Doesn't make sense, but then again, I suppose, to a certain extent, the market is what it is.

Agreed. I thought that hmt55 bgs 10 for $1355 was really cheap, as these had been going for $1700.

I was able to grab the pink refector in bgs10 for $2025, which I thought was really cheap considering a psa10 goes for $1400.
