I think it's a valid inclusion!

Some fun stuff you don't see often. 2002 was a pretty crap RC year until the late season sets that included the draft class. But prior to that, [B]Kaz Ishii[/B] was the big RC and a card like this (from what was then the highest end product out there) was massive that year. I remember many customers breaking products for him at the time.

For some strange reason, this [B]2003 UD Vintage Ochoa[/B] card is very short printed. Just the second copy I've encountered over the years (missed the first).

Similarly, I don't see the [B]2001 UD Gold Glove Grissom Leather Bound[/B] often. None of these are worth much but definitely not easy to replace.

Felt compelled to contribute, as it is right up my alley, but didn't want to go off and just spam it.

Most of my rare 2000's baseball is patch cards, and while this may not be the rarest or most expensive, it is definitely one of my favorites!

Technically, this is a 2000s card, but I was tempted to put it in the 90s thread since they only did this promotion in 1999 and 2000.

But there were only 100 of each promotion card produced. And if the player won, many were sent in. And if the player didn't win, most were trashed. Meaning these are virtual ghosts to find for any player.

Who was the seller on the 2003 Playoffs? All of those look like they were altered from plain jersey cards. That set had "prime" versions specifically spelled out on the front of the card above the patch window.

Talking about Topps Blacks makes me wonder who out there has finished up a HoF player run of Topps Blacks? Many players are easier than others based off of when they retired simply due to the amount of cards they have.

Oh man, it has been quite a few years ago, possibly even pre-pandemic or close to. That would definitely suck.

I did go through my other cards from that set that are 3 color patches, and some are the "Prime" variation #'d to 25 and some are not. I see your logic though, it would make sense the logo patches fit the Prime category. I wouldn't have questioned them otherwise, since I have noticed some blatant fake patch cards (in football) up for sale before that were kind of glaring, but if these did get repurposed someone did an excellent job at least.

What about these two? I wanted to buy them in the worst way, but it wasn't the right time for me budget wise. They're more recent, but I noticed now that you mention it there is no "Prime" designation on them?

That stinks, I wouldn't touch any of those. It sucks people doctor game used cards but something to be mindful of with patches that seem too good to be true. I would guess that the patches on the regular jersey variations you posted have swatches way better than 99% of the prime /25 versions from that set. Replica patches are readily and cheaply available for purchase online. There is some sets where patches make it into the jersey print run but generally they are not insane patches nor do they have designated prime variations of the same card.

I think it's getting more popular too. I've noticed the Throwback Threads set for football getting hammered with them, but at the same time, they definitely sell for 3 figures so there will always be those looking to profit.

Some of the 2003 Playoffs that are to 25 are still standard 3 colors, while some non primes and non numbered variations are basically the same look/3 color patch, but you're right, you would just assume that logo patches would be limited to low #'d cards. Hopefully I'm wrong.
