I personally go every day to my local salvation army and goodwill. They get a lot of donations every day (so always new stuff).

The "mom and pop" places seem to be pretty stagant and I might go once a week..Plus they seem to be higher

TMichaelSC 02-25-2014 09:33 AM

makes sense. thanks!

I'm way behind on my listings, I won't be going out for a couple of weeks until I catch up. These were my pickups yesterday.

r0yals2012 03-11-2014 11:47 PM

nice stuff. I found 2 good items yesterday but they had stains so I didn't get them. One was a starter jersey for the LA Kings and a St Louis Blues Jersey. It was a bummer too because I could have made good money on them.

TwinGnats 03-11-2014 11:59 PM

Mine was a Niners leather jacket, the logo was damaged beyond belief. Depending on how bad the stain and how cheap it is, might be worth trying to wash out.

Good stop today, picked up a complete Nintendo 64 with standard controller and Atomic Purple controller as well as Super Mario 64 for a whopping $10!

TwinGnats 03-12-2014 08:43 PM

It's unbelievable how affordable vintage games/systems are. I'm thinking about skipping this entire generation and in 10 years picking up 100 game library for $250 bucks and trapping myself in a room for a month. Dang that is a great deal. The Nintendo 64 is probably my favorite gaming console ever made. Super simple. The Mario games were the best. It was also my first console (I've had that, Gamecube, Wii, and the 360).

I found something decent today. I found an Eagles Pro Line Starter Jacket (not the satin one). 2.50 at Goodwill. Great condition

TwinGnats 03-16-2014 03:46 PM

Sold the RiverKings Jersey and Goldberg shirt for $20 each. Found some really cool stuff today. Found a Royals SGA hat from their 40th Anniversary, a Saul Smith Kentucky Jersey (Tubby Smith's son) and a wild Brett Favre sweatshirt. I have to head to a tutoring session right now but I'll post pictures when I get home tonight.

Joshua961203 03-16-2014 06:57 PM

Can anyone tell me exactly what the martial arts (I think) thing this is?

TwinGnats 03-21-2014 04:46 PM

Sold the Jordan for 30 and the Kentucky for 150. My best flip since I started doing this in Dec. Excited to try and find more stuff this weekend.

I've been buying/reselling vintage since 2005 and it's always been a money maker, it's just been far more popular the last five years or so. These are a *few* pickups from this year. Some our favorites at least. I've been fortunate enough to do this full time for almost a year now. As someone else said, I go every day and dig. Most Goodwill stores are required to put out 2k and 3k new pieces each day. Some of this has sold, some is still available. If you guys are on Instagram you can find us @ca2illvintage. We've got a great customer base, great feedback and even have a few celebrity customers. Enjoy folks! The Coach jacket is late 80's men's, bought last week for $1.

I never have any luck at all selling t-shirts on ebay. Is that where you guys move yours? Just seems like I can never get more than $5 for them.

eBay is the worst, at least for me personally. Instagram and twitter is where I do at least half of my selling. The rest is done locally with established customers. Also brand can play a big role in why they sell for less too.

Instagram? Really? My teenage daughter has that and I assumed that was pretty much the only people who used it. So you make a selling account and just start posting stuff?

JJ53 03-21-2014 06:10 PM

Where i live they price everything to high. Also you have the same 25-50 people everyday who make the rounds. One store they would hold stuff in the back for preferred customers. I gave it up years ago along with looking for HW TH.

Instagram has been around for awhile but has picked up steam the last year or so. There's all kinds of 'communities' on there. Cards, clothes, shoes etc. Most of my super high dollar items get sold on there. Hash tags are overly important though

About 15 years ago, I picked up and original pair of Air Jordan VIII that looked like they had only been worn once for $2.99 at a local thrift shop. I sold them for a little over $400 on ebay.

How did you know how many times they'd been worn?

rttrffg2012 03-21-2014 07:36 PM

I got excited when I saw the title. I thought you bought cards in a thrift shop.
My mind was thinking 3 1952 Mantles for $10 or something....
