The main reason this product could retain value as a sealed case is strictly from demand by breakers. At least you have comfort in that.
Very true. Over time though, level of demand will mostly depend on the success of the rookie class. A product might be demanded now but if the rookie class doesn't perform (or doesn't perform as good as needed to justify such prices), such demand will wane and the floor will drastically reduce and/or disappear to unknown, yet certainly lower, levels. Not to mention, it'd also be harder to move such wax. And group breakers might be highly prevalent now but what if they become much less prevalent in the future (aka less buyers). For these reasons and more, the risk runs high with this product at its current price-point. But, with all said, I really like the product and rookie class so that's why I pulled the trigger. I'd never advise someone to do it though, especially as an "investment" play. This is not a no-brainer purchase move like Logofractors.
The problem with this product is when you pay $800/box and get an $80 card, you feel sick. If you open a sealed case and hit a $2000 card on your last box, you feel a little better, then you feel sick again when you realize you just lost $3000 on the other four boxes in the case, lol.
Absolutely agreed. I've done this a few times over the years and it's always hurt. Unfortunately, I've never fully learned my lesson. One thing to note is that Dynasty is one of the best high-end baseball products available. With basketball/football wax, $800 gets you a mid-end hobby box. |
I believe the biggest barrier is not the placement of the RC logo, but rather the fact the base cards are only numbered to 10 and usually have anywhere from 3 to 8 different photo variations per player.
In the football and basketball world, they very casually (but often with some understood merit behind it) throw around the term "True RPA". That get's messy with a product like Dynasty. Are all the /10 base considered the true RPA? Is just the first one (card #XXX01 of the player urn) considered the true RPA? If so, then there are only 10 of them, that sucks! Personally, I love Dynasty. I consider them the best RPA's in baseball... not really close. I've got a full run of 2016 Schwarber in PSA 10... and an ungraded full run of Rhys Hoskins (with a 1/1) from 2018. Gorgeous, gorgeous cards!
That’s how Beckett handles it. They mark all versions of the /10 cards as RCs, so each player has 50-70 total “true RPAs.” |
In summary, Dynasty has taken over as the "go-to" on card RC auto to have?
For the Soto guys, I know those are rarely seen, how much does the Soto /10 go for typically? |

It's functionally the equivalent of Flawless RPAs for basketball and football. They might be "go-to" in the sense that they're going to be extremely expensive, but there aren't going to be enough out there to serve the same role as cards like Topps Chrome and Bowman Chrome autos. |
If Topps wants to make this nice, they got to put the MLB authentication stickers on the patches. Otherwise, we don't know where they came from.
Make this happen Fanatics/Topps |

However, those moon flips at this buy in price is out of the question. |
This set is so much better than anything Poopini puts out.
Game Used? Check Design featuring something other than plain white card stock with boring foil? Check All on card for a high end product? Check Interesting Dual GU/Auto from HOF & Superstars? Check Clean card stock with no gashed/pock marked surfaces? Check Recently have fallen in love with this set. Definitely the premier memorabilia card to get for baseball |

Yep. I get that... I just don't think most "True RPA" guys get that (or like that). The truth is, using your numbers, Beckett lists them all as RC's... so there are not 50-70 "true RPAs"... there are 5 to 7 different RPAs from the same product. The concept of "true" gets lost when they don't all look the same. The other big problem is the PSA Set Registry. Since Beckett lists them all as RCs, and they are different... a collector has to get one of each /10 version to complete a rookie set. Very, very few PSA collectors ever complete rookie sets on the Registry now of guys who have Dynasty RPAs. I certainly could be wrong, but I strongly believe if PSA just required registry collectors to have any one of the #/10 RPAs to complete the set... the popularity, and price, of these would skyrocket! |
874 dollars per box. Lmfao
I remember when this was 375 and it was bad break then |

Makes no sense. I would love to chase the Kris Bryant RC set, but there is no way. One of the things I love about collecting baseball cards is how complicated and ambiguous it often is. And sometimes I forget not everyone is like that. |

What if its actually game used and they guys gets the Golden Sombrero. Does it matter?

I don’t collect Dynasty - is the 1 card per box ever a redemption? ( that would be really nasty )

The last at eBay auction did a little north of that. One was listed on PWCC 9.5/10 at 5k and sold immediately. I would have bought that. The issue with Soto is that a good portion are locked in PCs of a few guys. He sells for 3x what Acuna does, but Acunas are always available whereas Soto isn’t. Sotos patches also crush Acunas in 2018. |

I think a big reason is Acuna has 6 cards /10 whereas Soto has 3. |

One shows as being bought (and paid for) by eBay on June 11, 2022 (/10 with a starry patch) for $20,222. Why would that one sell so high...? |

A huge part of it, yes. Better photos/patches with Soto too.
One shows as being bought (and paid for) by eBay on June 11, 2022 (/10 with a starry patch) for $20,222. IIRC one sold for around 8k. |
Why is this stuff still popular it is the same copy paste year after year
