Are there normally only 50 posts on the new Bowman thread a week or 2 before release? Maybe so, I may be thinking about Draft which is always a fun thread to keep up with prior to release.
It just seems like there's a bit of a meh response this year. Perhaps because everyone but breakers and gamblers are priced out? Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk |
I think a.) Folks are getting priced out a bit, b.) There's no Wander or Jasson this year (right?), and c.) 1st edition takes a little bit of the steam away from this release now (in my opinion).

I can’t believe 1st edition prices! No one liked paper bowman for years but now throw a little foil on it and it’s hot hot hot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Has an official checklist been released yet?

Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk
More discussion here, https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1433050 but yeah, I think this discussion is light. For good reason. 1. The big Draft holdout is worse than 2020 Bowman. As others mentioned, Austin Martin's ceiling is not close to what Bobby Witt's was perceived to be even at release. At release last year Witt was a high-ceiling prep who had struggled in his first taste of action. So, there was some risk, but for the sake of the hobby we care a lot more about ceiling than floor. Martin's perceived ceiling does not seem to to Witt's -- and we can see that clearly already. 2. There is no Jasson, or even a Puason Maximo Acosta is supposed to be the top international guy we know about in this. Have you checked his 1st Edition sales prices? There is clearly just not the same hype around him than there was about even Puason. Prices (& discussion) on early-development guys are driven a LOT by hype, and here we have Acosta & a bag of Jhon Diaz-types. 3. OK, Blaze Jordan is the real #2 But, everyone who hypes him gets rightfully smacked down by the reality of what he's likely to be. Sure, immense ceiling. But immense floor as well - lower than some of the J2 guys. And this isn't really something that's debatable, so the discussion is kinda minimal. |
My thoughts aside, here's the top 10 (approximate) sellers for 1st Edition base. Entirely base on 130point, so shipping not considered:
1. Austin Martin - $41 2. Blaze Jordan - $32 3. Kevin Alcantara - $15 4. Aaron Sabato - $9 5. Liover Peguero - $9 6. Maximo Acosta - $7 7. Gabriel Arias - $6 8. Mick Abel - $5 9. Jake Vogel - $5 10. Jared Kelley - $5 Jeremy De La Rosa, Ivan Johnson, Ismael Mena, and Alexander Ramirez were next. |
I know that these are the 1st Bowmans listed but some others sold for more than many of those such as Jasson, Spencer, and Witt. Adinso Reyes, Antonio Gomez and Alexander Ramirez were also popular as 1st Bowman's.

Yep, definitely those bigger non-1sts are something to consider as well. Gomez is in that 'next' group with Ramirez, I had just missed him in my scrawl. Adinso was surprisingly, less. So were Jose Salas & Christopher Morel. |

Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk
Let me add that it's not fair to throw Kevin Alcantara & Liover in the bag of Jhon Diaz-types. Liover has proven a little something, and Alcantara has every bit of the ceiling that Acosta has. Ah, the perils of being quippy. |
Think we have checklist wednesday?

100% this....there are a lot of casual buyers that would do a couple boxes, case, etc. Simply doesn't make sense anymore to rip and list. A lot (including myself) simply just sell their allocation and don't break...so it limits the chatter, imo. |

There's no value to be had here at $300 per hobby box with no major 1st BCA's. |
Gosh, who doesn't want to buy cases for $1K over the price of cases when Dominguez was announced in 2020 Bowman, all while having not a single prospect that's 1/4 as talented as him?
Funny thing is that 2020 Bowman dipped a good amount after its high launch price, before picking up in the last several months. I think this bodes well for anyone wanting to sit tight on buy some 2021 bowman for cheaper than launch price. |

I'm not counting on it being fixed. |
Checklist updated since previous post. Added the prep All-Star autos and buybacks.

Will topps.com have Blasters or just Hobby? Wondering how Bowman was in past years.
