I wish they’d move it around. LA, Houston, Nashville, Denver, Miami…
So do many of us. However, the old-time dealers who vote on the locations all want to keep in the Upper Midwest because that's the shortest drive for them. Been discussed many times in the National sub-forum.... |

There are some people on the waiting list that should have tables. Their inventory is better than tables I’ve seen.

Some of the 1990s baseball and basketball that made it upstairs in the new booths was fantastic. PMGs, Star Rubies, Essential Credentials, etc.
More of that please. |
You really are this clueless. Just stick to staying home and building your sets.
Finished another one today. Did you go to The National? |

Of course, been to every one since 2010. And for those who were there, you now have a better understanding of the current state of the hobby and where it’s trending. |

The lawyer liked something I said. We are turning a corner here folks.
Shows are alive. The hobby is alive. $ is being spent. Dealers with good inventory and fair pricing are having a great time. The poors still refuse to get on a plane though which is not something I can change. You cannot change that type of mindset. |

I think they will figure out the upstairs situation.
They could add more tables and give another 5-6 feet in the rows for patrons to walk through. One long time dealer who shared booth space in years past was finally able to set up solo with this new configuration. No hard feelings between him and his former boothmate, it was just time to branch out which gave him more table space and more showcases. He was elated to get his spot and said it was busy, well lit, well ventilated, etc. He said he would ask to be put up there again next year even with the crowdedness. |
They could have so many more tables up there even with expanding the rows. Was Chicago voted for three years in a row?

2026 - Chicago
2027 - Chicago 2028 - Detroit 2029 - Fanatics Takeover? |
The top 10% of Americans have a net worth over 1 million dollars.... and thats 35 million people. You only need a very small percentage of them engaged in the hobby to keep prices high. Essentially, in an niche industry like this where production of a product is something like 10-20k cases, you are really only concerned about catering to the top of the income chain.

Finally somebody gets it :)!
It's called upscaling -- it's been going on since the pandemic with the sharp increase in prices and the opening of boutique hobby shops. It's also pretty small-minded and won't result in 10xing the hobby. And $1 million net worth is peanuts here in Cali -- the costs are so high, you need to make at least that much annually to live comfortably. |
Also, the upscaling of the hobby doesn't exactly mesh with the rise of the trashy gambling elements that are driving most new product sales.
What respectable person wants to be associated with the Backyard Boys? |

If this were a thing wouldn't the repackers just clean them out? |

Don’t confuse Kaboom!, Downtowns, etc. as good inventory |
The National should be on a three region rotation.
1st year-East Coast 2nd year-Midwest 3rd year-West Coast Then keep repeating this rotation. I also always thought that Las Vegas would be a prime location for the National. I also feel that the Burbank Cards West Coast show is quietly becoming the West Coast “National”. |
no need for that
|
It seems as though the trade night at The National was pretty well received. How do those work? Just walk around and talk to to people? Does anyone make a little sign or placard that says "looking for _______"? I'm thinking about attending the next one at the fall show in town.
