If you're a legit contender, you're not worried about jockeying for which opponent you play. If Philly can't beat Miami in the 2nd round they might as well give in to MIL or BKN now.
You always want an easier road to the Finals, pretending otherwise doesn't match reality.

The 2011 Phils best record in 100+ years of franchise history and 102 wins, cost themselves a World Series with Four Aces because instead of letting the Braves win up 6-3 in the 9th to keep the wild-card, PHL came back to tie and won in extra, put Cards in playoffs. Then lost to the Cards 1-0 in G5 as STL ran all the way to the title. Biggest managerial blunder ever.

But yeah, if you can't beat Miami in 7 you're not winning the title. No doubt.

My god... The Heat absolutely manhandled Philly in the first half.

It was some of the most stale offense I've ever seen out of the 76ers.

Udonis Haslem has as many points as Joel Embiid, and he got tossed out in less than 3 minutes of play.

bigjbasketball 05-13-2021 09:22 PM

Miami is peaking at the right time again, just like they did last year. They will absolutely be making some noise in the playoffs. Wait for the Herro pump again when he scores 40 in a random mid-series game, haha.

I'll say it again. If you're a serious contender you know you're gonna play a quality team in the 2nd round. Unless NY and ATL play each other you are probably getting a very good team. Even ATL could cause more problems than MIA this season.

If you're hoping for some average team than you're not a legit contender. Legit teams will feel they're better already.

I have no idea what you're talking about in the middle paragraph. Could be frisbee for all I care. Stick to basketball my man.

I'm hoping Philly make it out of the East. We'll see. Defs have a nice mix.

Ohh. Theyll get the 1 seed.

It just wasnt pretty watching their offense look so stagnant against a team they could be playing in a few weeks.

Ohh man...

Because of that ending the Jazz haven't clinched the 1 seed and the Lakers still have a shot at the 6

Man

Remaining Schedule:

Jazz: OKC, Sacramento
Suns: Spurs, Spurs

Suns need to win both, Jazz lose 1 for the first seed.

Blazers: Nuggets
Lakers: Indiana, New Orleans

Lakers need to win both, Blazers lose.

Nuggets control Lakers IF Lakers win Saturday. If they lose Saturday, then Lakers are set at the 7 no matter what.

My guess would be that Jokic come out and play the first half of that game (he wants to play all 72 this year), then Malone attempts a 2 on 5 strategy in the second half to see if Denver can keep the game inside 50 points. :)

There is no way on God's green earth he will let the Lakers into the 6th spot. Especially because if Clippers tank the last game and Denver wins, Denver get's the 3 and would face the Lakers first round!

Chris P 05-14-2021 08:25 PM

Wizards officially clinch a play in tourney spot

drobfan8 05-14-2021 09:20 PM

I think everyone wants the Suns.

Evem though they're a good team. They just look ripe for the picking.

I imagine that every top 4 seed to doing the math on how to avoid the Lakers in round 1.

Wouldn't blame any team for tanking to miss that

tjforce 05-14-2021 10:28 PM

Also.. Philly finally clinches the 1 seed

It matters, because they have the best home record in the East, #2 in the NBA.

Plus now they get to rest their guys for 8 days.... a good amount of time to heal any nagging injuries

Well Phoenix can't. Phoenix is the only team in no-mans land where they are stuck taking what everyone else around them gives them. Which is the 2-seed.

And if the Lakers end up as the 7 (which is all but guaranteed), then the only hope for PHO is that the Lakers lose the first play-in game. Otherwise, it's them.

Interesting that the Clippers tanked to get the 4 seed.

Lakers still have a shot at 6. They'd need to win 2, and have Portland lose to Denver... which is might not be likely, but possible.

Either way, it puts the Clippers on the other side of the bracket than the Lakers (unless they fall to 8).

Lol.

You're seriously overreacting to this "fear" of the Lakers.

We also have no idea where they end up. They could easily lose to GS and be an 8th seed.

I think the Clips best chance would be playing them early anyway.

Utah and Phoenix can't moce pretty much so it is what it is.

This will be an interesting run for LeBron. He's had such a large rest, then also bitched and moaned about the play in. Now he could get bounced.

I'm not a believer in any of the West teams. If Kawhi or Luka can go to another place maybe they can come out of the West but none of the others look legit.

If Bron doesn't make the Finals it will add to the rest of his embarrassing failures.

Very disappointed. Was hoping to see a 1st round LA matchup. Seems like a "tail between the legs" type move by the Clips.

Exactly. If there was a time you'd want to play the Lakers, it's the first round. By the 2nd/3rd round, they will be clicking if lebron/AD are healthy.
