This is the best thing eBay has done for for the trading card hobby in a long time.
I'm surprised it took so long TBH; Etsy has had this feature for years (PWE w/ Tracking)

smapdi 11-05-2020 12:19 PM

This is a pretty big deal. Not only does it unlock thousands of cheap cards from behind the huge shipping cost (I hate seeing a card I need listed for 50 cents with $4 shipping), it saves on sales tax, which includes the S&H charge. There are a number of cheap cards I need to fill in sets and just this past weekend I had put them all in my cart to see how much it would cost. It was about $25 for the cards, $38 for shipping, and over $5 for tax, totalling over $68. If all sellers went this way, it would only be about $35 including tax.

Does the seller have to charge 75 cents? Can the seller still charge whatever they charge but choose this shipping option and only pay 75 cents to ship?

Just curious if eBay is forcing the seller to charge 75 cents to the buyer as the only way the seller can pay the 75 cents shipping fee with tracking.

discodanman45 11-05-2020 12:28 PM

I hope Paypal gets this as well! This is a game changer for selling and buying. Hopefully this happens soon. I am stocking up on Card Saver 2's! They also allow toploaders, which is awesome! The envelope can't be more than 0.25 inches, which means you could possibly send out toploaders up to 108 pt. The two things that confuse me it the uniform thickness of the envelope and it can't be too rigid...

The 75 cents is average cost, so it is not exactly the cost. I think we will get the same option of charging flat, calculated, or free. I think I will just make it calculated. I usually only due calculated or free shipping on the items I sell.

The up to 3oz is pretty helpful as well, that can pretty easily cover 4 cards or a couple thicker cards where those could have easily pushed over 2 oz before

glassofwater 11-05-2020 01:26 PM

Dang this is game changer. What size label? You think will use so. I use thermal printer dymo, for my 4x6 padded envelopes, I wonder what size

tonedef2oo8 11-05-2020 04:07 PM

How will the scabs justify making 2 bucks a package over charging now!!!

Did you check Sportlots for those cards, using the Box service?

So I didnt read any article. Can someone answer this simple question-

So can I ship a single Chrome Card, In a Toploader, In a Team Bag inside of a Bubble Mailer for 75 cents on ebay once this is live?

Skybase 11-05-2020 04:13 PM

Maybe I can finally start posting a crapload of my commons. I have spent way too much on cards this last year and have literally around 100,000 cards to get rid of probably. (going off of the fact I grabbed a case of penny sleeves locally and am close to out of them already)
So this will hopefully make that much more feasible. I'm too n00b with Ebay even after all of these years to tinker with the one listing for many cards, or buyer's option. Maybe I need to figure that out as well...

There are some youtube videos that explain "variation listings" I believe.

If they could roll this out in the next 10 days before the billion free listings expire that would be helpful.

From your eBay sold item details you can open up the PayPal transaction which is where I have it set to print on 4x6 thermal labels. I wasn't able to print on 4x6 directly from eBay.

Not sure if the 0.75 shipping works for padded envelopes though.

Any thoughts on this hurting comc?

hairysasquatch 11-05-2020 05:32 PM

Could anything be done to hurt COMC that COMC hasn't thought of themselves?

Well I was about a day away from sending in 500+ cards to comc that I’m now not sending due to this news. I’m assuming I’m not the only one.

I get 10,000 and it just says Dec 1. I better monitor that though if yours have an expiration date on them.

This is great news.
