I know he'll be fine and I'm grateful the Braves are still winning even without him at the top of his game, but man it's been frustrating to watch. I look forward to every Acuna at bat, and the majority of the time now it seems to be strikeout or groundout. His strike zone discipline has really dropped off, and that's hard to see after he made so much improvement last year.
Hopefully he picks it up soon (along with Riley and Olson) so I can get back to cheering him getting on base and toying with pitchers on the base paths again a few times a game. It's a much more exciting game when Acuna is doing Acuna things! Edit: SEE! Now that was exciting to watch! |
Ronald Acuña Jr. 2024 slow start breakdown
https://www.mlb.com/news/ronald-acuna-jr-2024-slow-start-breakdown Definitely frustrating to watch so far but I know he'll figure it out. He's had a few pitches go his way, but watching every AB when he's not swinging at the wrong stuff he's getting some really questionable calls against him at the plate. Hopefully in May he looks more like the Acuña we're all used to. One bright side, Ronnie just broke up Miller's no-hitter, promptly stole 2nd, stole 3rd on the next pitch and scored the first run. |
Most exciting player in baseball.

No, only his chance for an MVP repeat might be |
With strikeouts in his first two plate appearances tonight, #Braves' Ronald Acuña Jr. has four consecutive multi-strikeout games and more multi-strikeout games this season (11) than he had in all of 2023 (10)

Neither do I or the rest of us. What is causing this to happen? Is he feeling pressure? Is he going for only HRs? There's gotta be a reason, it's the same pitchers he sees every year. |

He is not showing the same patience as last year and talking the balls and the walks of late. Maybe he is pressing for HR’s given he only has 1 |

He's flat out missing some good hitter's pitches (middle-middle and down) and it seems like every 10 AB has 1 where he gets rung up looking at a ball off the plate. His timing is still off, he's not taking confident swings (for good reason as he's obviously not reading the ball well), and he's had a few balls that just die in the wind. It's a multitude of things going wrong but I still think it all clicks sometime in the next couple weeks and RAJ goes on a scorcher. Here's a final statline prediction (for posterity) assuming he stays healthy and plays 150+: .280/.390/.425ish 135 R 32 HR (I know this looks ridiculous now) 75 RBI 62 SB Not gonna win any awards with that line but maybe he can add some postseason accolades. |

13k in last 23 ABs
Can’t wait till he gets his timing back and lights it up |

you love to see it!

That's a pitch he has consistently missed all season (up & away FB). He's getting more comfortable up there...

Let’s not forget when he got picked off second base in the first inning while he off staring at butterflies again which cost the team a run as Austin Riley hit a HR on the very next pitch and then proceeded to act like he was hurt. :)! |
How has the weather been in the games he has played in April? less hits... less HR... less RBI...more Ks.... everything else looks pretty close (other that AVG and OBP) but if the temps have been colder that might contribute to the slower start. he didn't light up April last year and still won the MVP. Once the weather warms up... he could get hot. |
