Acuna is a fraud like the rest of the Braves this year. Thanks for all the meatballs tonight, Strider!

Too bad there were fans at CBP, huh?
Only Philly fans think that Strider was being serious when he made that comment.
Hot take Andy thinking 14 postseason ABs defines a season of 643 ABs....lol
He's been talking like Nick Castellanos has been playoff clutch his entire career. I believe at one point he said the Braves needed more clutch players like Alec Bohm and Bryson Stott.

oddstuff 10-13-2023 12:16 AM

Not the ending that Braves/Acuna fans want...a reminder that the post season is completely different than the regular season. Pitching staffs need to be build to thrive in both instances...where regular season games are practice for the post season. Hurts for Acuna fans that he didn't have a great series but also, he's 25 going on 26 and this quick exit will fuel him and the rest of the team next season. The heart break ending will be what drives Ronnie to be even better next season...as the mission is not complete. Can you imagine Ronnie being even better in the coming season?

More like Rosario and Soler ala 2021

Did someone hand Ronald a binky last night? What a sore LOSER. At least Mookie spoke to the media and owned up to sucking in the postseason.

Sometime after the Braves transitioned again from a 100-plus-win team to postseason mush, but before Ronald Acuña Jr. brushed past waiting media members several times in the clubhouse and eventually walked out the clubhouse with his exit words, “No habla,”

Also:

Maybe he just didn’t want to talk about the loss or the playoff exit — although that didn’t stop his teammates from answering questions like professionals. Maybe he didn’t want to revisit how he went from an MVP-caliber regular season to hitting .143 (2-for-14) in the series and going 0-for-4 while stranding five baserunners in the elimination game. Maybe not talking is just a page out of his own, secret leadership handbook. If so, he should burn it.

Brutal series for Mr. Future MVP.
like i said before....all that offense. 104 wins. division champs. all those HRs. all the accolades, and we scored 8 runs in 4 games against a team that for the 2nd year in a row, sent us home.

it's unacceptable. something has to change.
Or ya know, there's a huge amount of variance in a 5 game series and there's nothing you want to change if a team was good enough for 104 wins. I'd love to change Snitker because he made a colossal mistake that may have us the series. The one thing you can control and that has no variance, manager decisions

Rob Thomson outmanaged Snit the entire series.

Don't let his latest struggle discourage you. Remember, Acuña has something Ohtani, Trout, Bonds, Griffey Jr, and many others do not: a world series ring!

Played great in the world series, well earned champion!

Yes but just like those guys, Acuna wasn’t on the field to win it.

And they don't win it without Ronald's MVP caliber first half of the season.

But hey, you go tell him he doesn't deserve the ring. I'm sure he'll give it back and demand it's scrubbed from the record books if he knows some guy on the internet doesn't count it.

It’s the usual suspects coming in with negativity. Are you guys short term investors hoping to cash out after a World Series run/ World Series mvp this year? Jealous your favorite player was inferior all season?

Great year by the 2023 N.L. MVP!!

Overall Acuña’s series could’ve been better. 2 of the 4 games were not bad and he just missed a base clearing hit or grand slam last night. The Braves offense as a whole was asleep.

chris_ac 10-13-2023 03:46 PM

While people here come far and wide for hyper-criticism (1st world America problems), I will just keep the rebuttal to a simple form and take what you wish to sleep better: there is a separation of team accomplishment or disappointment vs individual. Happens every year to some team and some superstar across all major team sport leagues.

Also, if you're a team fan, you disregard the livelihood of an individual player's performance to benefit a team's narrative. Player A sucks when his team wins but he did not show stats but also sucks when the team loses and has a great slash which means his performance was garbage-time argumentatively.

This is the echochamber we live in media wise and fans absorb it daily and then regurgitate it elsewhere on social media/interwebs. They play every year for a reason, good and woeful alike. Thinking long term is the weapon towards this perception and to keep sane in your personal attachment to said player.

Your choice always. But I do find team fans are the enigma/stigma to these long-winded, heated debates.

I can see why the kid liked turtles ;) :coffee:

dream34 10-13-2023 03:50 PM

Anyone looking to move a RC Sapphire 15% less than the last comp, PM please ;)

He couldn't motivate his team to score more than 2 runs per game, only got on base 4 times and only scored 3 of the 8 Braves runs in the series - this guy is Horrible! :)!

What? No way dude, you made some great points. Acuna was bad this postseason, Nick Castellanos was amazing. Braves should just trade Acuna straight up for Nicky C.

They should try and get that Eddie Rosario guy, I heard he was super clutch back in 2021.

Hand a dang good shot this year. I really like Strider and Riley personally. Would have loved an Astros/Braves rematch.
