Mbappe's rookies
Wanted to make a post with the photos of the Mbappe's cards, which were produced before PRIZM, but after some simple ebay and Cartophilic research, I realized that it is more then 8 cards and 2 stickers, so I quit.
1. Card (not panini, something like Tiger Woods rookie), & Panini Foot sticker. 2. Panini Adrenalyn France Lique 1 (retail), 3 cards. 2017. 3-4. Panini Adrenalyn WC - multiple cards. Topps Chrome CL -multiple cards. If Messi's true rookie is Panini LaLiga product, and Ronaldo's is Portugal product, then why cannot be Mbappe's Panini Europe's products his rookies? Prizm is not true rookie, in my eyes not even rookie year. Not even first global product release of that Year. (TC was). I understand, that Panini America's product are more desired then European, so demand is there, but cannot be considered as rookie.(price or demand doesn't make card a rookie :) ). To summarize. Guys who joined the Mbappe train will be claiming one thing and guys who didn't bother are now little bit afraid and don't want to admit the potential fault, so are strongly claiming it is scam and trap. Nobody will change his mind :) |
you are correct in every sense :)!
Agreed |
Typically, the market determines the rookie card or most desirable. I’ve been collecting since the 70’s and have many minor league cards (baseball) that have never been considered the desirable cards. They are the first cards printed, many at low print levels, but aren’t recognized as “rookies”.
Donruss made the right move in the 2018-19 set by adding the rated rookie label, that along with a terrific group of young players provides the spring board for Soccer releases going forward. 2019-20 looks very promising. That said, I like the stickers & will continue collecting them. There is plenty of room in my collection for both stickers & cards. |
how is 2018-19 donruss? just curious was thinking of a hobby case

Just opened a case with my 10 year old son. It was a blast (lots of color, autos etc...) Highly recommend if you can find a case I’m sitting on another sealed case but doubt I can hold off opening it...lol |

I got one for 900 and the 2nd one for 1100 Not sure prices now |
If you can get a case for around $100 per box or in the $1,200 range then that is still a good price. Highly recommend it!

ok cool i enjoy ripping oddball stuff is the bigger rookies in the sancho and mbappe? i have been trying to research just trying to get a little help and it seems like the optic adds some great value |
I would throw these in as the best rookies to shoot for (Mbappe is not a rookie in this but his stuff obviously sells very well out of it):
In no particular order Jadon Sancho Phil Foden Vinicius Junior Josh Sargent Timothy Weah Alphonso Davies Matthijs de Ligt Kai Havertz I also feel like you get 2-3 Gold Optic /10 per case, a dual/triple low #'d auto and a 1/1 per case. That's not every case but most of the ones I've seen has something similar to this. |

HUGE value.. Wish I could buy more, and I've been buying it for the last year now. |
I just pulled the Havertz 1-1 rated rookie 18/19 Donruss.
I don't know a ton about his background, is he any good (potential?) TIA
That's a great card, but you should know that though the card says "rookie", it's not actually his rookie. He had a 2016 Topps Match Attax card released in Germany. He also had 2017 cards...so although your 1/1 is a great card, it's his 3rd year card. |

Ok thanks Are any of his other “earlier” cards #’d? What will his “must have” high end card that is not just a base? |
Make no mistake, you have the “it” card with the 1/1 Optic Havertz. Whether it’s a 3rd year card or not is beside the point. The point is the desirability of a card. As politely as I can put it, serious card collectors with any sort of buying power simply do not care about Match Attax. Don’t take my word for it. Just take a cursory glance at completed eBay auctions. The market speaks for itself. Love, love, love, Kai’s potential by the way.

Agreed. Mbappe cards are hot, but I don’t think they’re that hot. Although I have seen his card prices continue to climb, I’m skeptical of these purchases given the current economic climate. Anybody else noticing that soccer cards are still gaining steam despite the pandemic? I’ve only been tracking sales of a few players, but the soccer market looks like it’s still faring pretty well. Being significantly undervalued initially probably doesn’t hurt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Chrome refractors of any type are fire right now though [emoji91][emoji91][emoji91]

Ronaldo Optic Halo Silver is not even $10. His /25 is not even $50. Original WC Silver Prizms of Suarez, Rooney, whoever, $1 EPL silver prizm of Salah, Kane, Son, are under $10. So much fire right now...:)! |

I just found it interesting that the regular refractors of Mbappe in general are fetching such premiums vs the base Topps Chrome. The serial numbered color refractors are really climbing the ladder right now, not counting the Golds from Probstein.

I picked up a couple Messi greens for peanuts not too long ago. As earlier pointed out most don’t sell for much currently, but I think with Messi and CR7 this could change in the future. Kind of like the dramatic appreciation in premium low numbered LeBron parallels. Personally I’m glad they are so low right now, I scooped up some CR7 blues as well.
