Everyone knew Warriors would come out blazing this game, but The Curry Qtr was where they stitched it up!

3 tech fouls missed by the refs, 2 taunting in Green and Curry slamming the ball down. Weak calls IMO, but they are the rules, can't change it now, then call Durant for language or intimidation or whatever it was??

OKC better find a way to get more out of the rest of the team, Dubs can use plenty of fouls holding KD and Westbrook without worrying about the others!

Was wondering the same thing. Seems petty to complain about now(not saying you are) but why were these plays ignored in game???

Cervantes 05-19-2016 09:09 AM

It is what it is, but that was a bs foul call on Durant right before the technical. And really...a tech for that? LOL I'm guessing KD said "BULLSH..!" on that call.

It was a super quick whistle, and if Durant was able to say something that quickly that warranted a T, I'd love to know what it was.

My only complaint is that there isn't consistency in these playoffs, regardless who the calls favour, just doesn't seem to be consistent. Although, Durants is similar to Livingstons in the Portland series I guess?

Bogut was getting called for holds today that he normally wouldn't? Green was getting the draw fouls that he wasn't getting in game 1?? Just too different fro game to game for mine

The consistency isn't there because these officials rotate.

This series is going to be amazing. I know GS cruised in the second half, but I've seen enough at this point to really think OKC has a pretty legit shot to win. If the Warriors can play chaos ball, they win. But if the thunder can keep the game slow and only run in very deliberate spots, they have a chance. Their length and athleticism is just so superior to GS's.

Meanwhile, Cleveland plays another patsy. The road that OKC has to take to get there (beating 2 of the top 10 regular season teams of all time) vs the road that Cleveland has to take is staggering. Either way though, whether we get the second round of durant vs lebron or the second GSW vs CLE, we get an awesome matchup.

That's the problem. They need to make as many calls as possible black and white instead of subjective, so the official team have no bearing on the way a game is called

The only thing I ask is that the finals go to 7 games so we have as short an offseason as possible! :)!

Well it was also BS that he pushed Curry while on the ground and didn't get a tech for that, so...Also he likely got the tech because he was demonstrative, that's basically the reason Green gets every tech.

I do love how we're complaining about the officials still as if the Warriors didn't win by 30...Accountability, people.

They are certainly longer than GS, but to say they are a superior athletic team is absurd. Besides Durant and Westbrook, who are their "superior" athletes? Andre Roberson is probably the next most athletic, but it's Andre Roberson:doh:.

In theory, yes.

In reality NBA games would become a parade to the free throw line, with fouls being called on every possession and teams in the bonus a couple minutes into each quarter.

It's a physical game played by big, strong, fast people, which causes there to be a lot of contact. And with more and more teams running offenses with multiple screens, there is even more contact than there used to be. You could probably nail someone for setting an illegal screen, and someone for fighting through screens, on almost every possession. You could call an offensive foul for pushing off and a defensive foul for general contact on almost every drive to the hoop. That's just the way the game is these days.

Don't forget, they threw out the rule book on travelling 20+ years ago, and that's one of the easiest infractions to call.

I think that fans would be a lot happier(at least I would be) if they still made the black and white calls like travelling and would stop with the anticipation fouls. Refs should only call what they see instead of what they think probably happened. So many times now, refs blow the whistle when there is little to no contact just because they "think" there had to e something there. How many times do shots gets blocked cleanly but a foul is called simply for the shot being contested. It has become a guessing game so fans get upset and don't know what will and won't be called anymore.

JustinVerlander07 05-19-2016 02:10 PM

You could call a foul on an illegal screen just about every time anyone screens a guy. Players are always moving.

So start calling them! I bet after 6 they would stop doing it?

I don't understand the mentality that we should just accept things because "that's how it happens"!

Like accepting "star calls" or "swallowing the whistle in the last minute".

Vote 1 Jeff Van Gundy for commissioner!

blackbears86 05-20-2016 09:46 AM

Bottom line is there are going to be horrible/missed/bad calls by the refs every game.

The NBA is at least taking a step in the right direction by admitting they are missing some calls, using replays, etc.. (unlike the old days with David Stern)

Hopefully in the future they will look even further into officiating, (which I agree is bad) but until then, it is what it is.

I don't blame the refs for missing the Westbrook travel in game 1 (which they admitted they blew) I blame Golden State for playing with zero energy and poor play execution.

Thunder fans should be mad at their team for playing poor transition defense, bad shot selection and turning the ball over multiple times in game 2. Not the refs.

It's not like GS won by 2, as others have stated.

The problem is that the more fouls are called, the more time teams spend at the charity stripe. That's slows down the pace of the game and decreases TV ratings.

Steven Adams is a pretty good athlete for a 7-footer. Not in the high flyer sense of the word, but his combination of psychical play down low coupled with his ability to defend of the perimeter when he needs to. Compare that with what happens when Kanter gets stuck guarding Steph/Klay outside and you'll see what I mean.

That being said, it all comes back to the bench where GS has almost every advantage you can think of. Livingston, Andre I, guys like that give them a huge boost and are what puts them over the top imo.

No denying Adams is a good athlete, but for anyone to say that OKC is superior athletically to GS is ludicrous imo.

Gametime!

Damn, Steven Adams with the sweet spin move. Where did that come from?

Nice.

God I love watching Westbrook play.

Thunder off to a fast start. Lots of energy tonight.

Buuuuuuuut it is still early. :D

bballcollector 05-22-2016 07:15 PM

Slow start. It's been like that in every series for the Dubs. It's hurting my eyes watching Bogut play. He's clearly not healthy enough to play against OKC bigs.

That was a really cheap foul call on Westbrook, lol.

Ibaka is playing like a MAN tonight.
