Batman #158 Bill Sienkiewicz Card Stock VAR Collect Forever Exclusive Limited to 100

Has this sold out yet?

Does it usually take this long before the cover is revealed?

Feels like it's been ages...

Chrominator 02-19-2025 11:10 AM

It's still avail.... ugh

Batman #159 Bill Sienkiewicz Card Stock VAR - Collect Forever Exclusive (Limited to 1

Now issue #159 is avail for preorder...

Do we not see any covers until the very end of fulfillments for all six issues??

finfangfan 02-19-2025 11:14 AM

Sometimes covers don’t pop up until they are made physical. As you noted, both covers are still available. It will probably be like the CF Funkos that stick around for awhile. As I mentioned upthread, 1,000 is a pretty high print run based on how poorly comics generally sell on CF.

It would help a bit if you could trade around preorder comics, but that isn’t an option. Also, unlike cards, no direct way to sub to COMC and shipping is kind of prohibitive… $16 for 10 comics.

I must say, the whole shipping thing is quite ridiculous.

And that's prob why I haven't really gotten involved in CF, but as a Batman clector I figured it was worth it for these exclusives.

Now... I'm not so sure.

finfangfan 02-19-2025 12:05 PM

It might be fun if you like Batman to go for at least one achievement. I’m not sure what the secondary value will be on these. The 1,000 print run comics prob will sell for less than the $16 msrp but the achievement comics *might* hold some value. Unfortunately, it’s a 6+ month program and takes the better part of a month to fulfill a shipment once you request it. So by the time you have achievement comics in hand the fan buzz will have moved onto the next shiny and new permutation of Batman or whatever.

They just posted the cover art today… no bueno.

I kind of feel like these will be on CF for a long time like the Jordan and LeBron Funkos… but maybe once the achievement goes live it spurs a bunch of sales.

@ 14.99 a pop — these are def not moving fast

Do they ever do discount sales on CF?

Maybe they did a discount on some of the Funkos that have sat forever… But pretty much everything else is preorder so at fill price + cost of slab for comics (which stinks).

finfangfan 03-01-2025 03:19 PM

I still pick up comics off of CF each month… I was happy to hit this cool incentive variant wraparound..,

Do they tell you the cover rarity (e.g., 1:25, 1:50)?

These days, just about every comic has at least one variant. They are not always rare though. They may be printed less than cover "A," but usually are the same price or $1 more if they are printed on card stock - but actually are worth less over time. Most people want the Issue 1 Cover A Slab over the variants, unless they're a low quantity variant.

I saw the March solicitation advert for DC comics in May, and they're launching a new title - Superman Unlimited - as part of the Summer of Superman (with the movie coming out and all) - and it has 11 variants.

But no one does variants like Dynamite Comics - Holy hell - Thundercats and more recently Silverhawks had 30-40 variant covers each!! It was insanity!

finfangfan 03-03-2025 06:04 PM

You are right… Collect Forever offers the “normal” print to order variant covers directly for preorder. And then for participating comics, your preorder purchase gives you a chance to “win” the dealer incentive ratio variant instead. So the Catwoman cover above is the 1:25 ratio variant that I rec’d instead of the normal Catwoman 76 comic I put in my cart.

Incidentally, COMC does let you list the CF softslabs for sale on their website. It is just not free to send over. I shipped out from ePack to COMc using the COMC mailbox option. It took CF a couple weeks to ship out my order and then a couple weeks for COMC to process. So like a month long journey.

I listed the first batch of 10 today… and have 30 more in various stages of transit.

I think going forward, I will use this to list mostly my dealer ratio variants.

finfangfan 03-07-2025 06:16 PM

I kind of wish COMC would have taken better scans. The graded CGC comics that are slabbed get a scan that fills the whole box whereas for some reason the software scans show a ton of gutter around the image of the slab.

I sent them directly from ePack to COMC mailbox**. Looks like they charged me $18 to process 10. I also paid roughly that on the other end to ship off of COMC.

I just sold my first comic slab of the initial 10 that arrived there today.

Bottom line is it’s probably something you only want to do with the ratios or a normal comic that increased in value. I am also experimenting with “cool covers” and items I think might do well with search terms since the comics won’t list to eBay.

** EDIT: I can walk you through these directions if interested.

finfangfan 03-07-2025 07:21 PM

Something I just thought about…
they currently are having a March sale on submissions… so the price I was charged likely is due to that too.

Right now I just have my home address there. If you enter that COMC mailbox address do they just know it came from your CF acct to your COMC acct? The posted fees at COMC is also throwing me off.
Thanks,
Vinny
PS: seems the COMC mailboxes are for non U.S accts

finfangfan 03-07-2025 07:34 PM

I am in the US. COMC mailboxes were set up for you to directly submit and sell items you buy online. Probably something most geared toward eBay. But I guess also practical if you bought something here from someone on the forum and had them ship to your COMC mailbox instead of to your home.

And yes… on the ePack side you set up as an alternate shipping address as follows;

COMC.com mailboxes c/o [your comc userid]
6727 185th AVE NE
Redmond, WA 98052
USA

finfangfan 03-09-2025 04:28 PM

Update… 2nd of my first batch of 10 soft slabs sold. So experiment is doing okay ish. It’s nice that there is some portability in sending these comics to COMc even tho it isn’t free. Trading comics on ePack is tough!

Is it cheaper than shipping home?

VinnyH 03-10-2025 03:56 PM

I just sent 13 epack comics to my COMC mailbox address, cost was $19 and change. Unless there's a discount along the way, I think it may be $3 an issue to then process them. Really not that bad considering what a pain they are to sell on eBay and ship.
Vinny :)!
