Waiting until the WC to sell was never the move! Doesn’t matter if the market is up or down. Never wait until the moment that every single investor has been hyping for 2+ years.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was not waiting for the world cup that for sure. I run auctions every week to two weeks regardless of what's going on. I open up way to much product to hold on to it. When you open 10 cases of a product you need to move what you can as fast as you can. What works for me is once I photograph a product I keep a file and number every card and break it down by color. So when I go to break that product 6 months from now My photos are already done and the file in in my ebay inventory ready to go. |
The Case pricing is not helping. What world cup soccer is selling for is insane. Even the grading company's are drooping their fees. I honestly don't think its just Soccer I think the entire market is about to crash and burn. As you already stated its too much supply. This is the first year I did not go nuts on black Friday and buy up a ton of cases. Last year at this same time I must of had 50 to 100 cases of product to open.
A lot of things going against wax releases from 2020 onward. 1. Prices not reflective of singles pricing 2. No rookies anywhere near as good as Haaland and Mbappe 3. Terrible production quality 4. Overproduction 5. Falling market Still some great sets out there to buy. I love Beam Team. Just waited a couple of months for prices to come down. |

2. No rookies anywhere near as good as Haaland and Mbappe
this applies to all sports though generational players come along every decade or so, in soccer the vast majority seem to see through the bullcrap and ignore a lot of the fake hype, unlike baseball for example, where 1st bowmans of even the worst of the worst go for insane prices. It's only since the clueless breakers cashed in on soccer that we've really seen the rise of expensive completely and utterly average "rookies". I'll never forget Sidney Raeberger cards going for tens of thousands of dollars. That was the ultimate peak of absurd. Thankfully, things are going back to normal (ish). |
A guy like Musiala might have like 10-15 "gold" RCs in 2020-21 products. From a wax perspective, we treated them all pretty equal. Now we've got singles out there and it's an actual collectors market... not sure that was the FULL plan, but the "value" of these is a fraction of what the case prices would suggest they should be.

What do you think 2050 us will think of these? I'm guessing a couple will float to the top and the others will be a big time yawn. |
You have seen him play zero minutes of football.
You don't need to see him play. He's 18 years old so he has plenty of time. If you can pick his cards up for $2- $5 instead of selling them why not just hold on to them and see what happens. I have at least 100 or so of them here. so why not take the risk and hold them, Since I can buy the cases wholesale for under $500 each. Remember Mabappe tops chrome rookies at one time you could not give away and then he exploded, Same thing Happened with world cup cards one day they did not sell 5 years later everyone wanted them. |

Neither really, just that it's not hard to pick up his rookies from multiple different sets including low numbered. |

Lol you are clearly an american... being 17/18 and having one or two games in a Bundesliga is far from rare. There are literally dozens of cases of 17/18 year olds playing a few games on top leagues. If you think that nobody is gonna be something, just check Freddy Adu, Martin Odegaard or Renato Sanches...just to name a few who played at very young ages (some even at 16) in top leagues and were basically flops or regular (non-star) players. |
Umm, Odegaard is captaining the team leading the Premier League. If anything, he is a good example of why you need to be patient with players.

Being captain of a team has little to do with football qualities, you dont see Mbappe, Haaland or even Messi being much of a captain anywhere. |
Don’t want to prolong what strikes me as a pretty nutty conversation, but Messi captained Barcelona for years and has been Argentina’s captain for the past two World Cups.
Odegaard is 23 and is leading one of the biggest clubs in the world. Arsenal plays through him, and the quality of his play is one of the reasons they have turned things around. You can certainly make the point that young hyped players oftentimes don’t work out. But, he is not a good example of the point. (I would also argue that Renato Sanches is a pretty good player). |

If I opened 10 cases of Finest Bundesliga and lets just say I have 50 of his rookies that sell $1 and $5 each why not hold on to them and see what happens. It takes 2-3 Years to learn the system before you get regular shifts. He elected to go to a lower lever team because he felt he was not ready to play at that level. Freddy Adu was just hype. After leaving the MLS he could not even make it on to a professional indoor soccer teams roster after trying out. |

lol not to get off track but it really is. True, he bounced around a lot and never lived up to the enormous media hype that surrounded him, with a level of pressure that no child should have to deal with (and he admittedly didn't handle the hype and pressure well). But he also had 17 senior caps and was very successful at the younger international levels. Then after leaving RSL he got stuck in an unhealthy club situation with a manager revolving door, and it went into a tailspin from there.
There's a great podcast out there about him that includes Adu interviews. Well worth a listen. |
that's an incredibly dishonest summation of Freddy Adu's career.
I dont know how you can say that, when my local professional soccer team cut him in the first few days at tryouts. anyone who thinks Adu was great needs an eye exam. |

Nobody has said he was "great", however your original post was incredibly dishonest. |

How is it dishonest? he was nothing but hype due to his age. He was in fact cut from a professional indoor soccer team try outs after he left the MLS |
