That's all speculation. We can only assess how the teams do fitting the players they drafted into their respective systems and schemes.
Huh? There is draft value. IE where someone is taken in regards to their predraft grade and position. Example: The 49ers really needed a kicker. And if they took theirs (Who was by far the best kicker in college) with their 1st pick, it would be a waste. how well he will fit into their system is the only thing that is speculation. No one knows which college player will be the next super star, until they are (or aren't). It isnt like Gibbs needs to fit into a certain system. Its pretty easy. Running backs run the ball. It isnt like choosing a defensive player that has never played in a certain scheme. |

I found the order in which the Lions took the players they did puzzling initially, but they seemed to be happy to get the players they did when they did - there was a hilarious war room video of Holmes inadvertently elbowing Campbell in the gut after the Gibbs pick and Campbell tried to walk it off but ended up doubled over for a second. I'm not giving up the Kool-Aid! |

The Lions, despite having the biggest "steal" of the draft (Brian Branch) were far and away the worst team on the list; the Vikings were 18th and the Bears were 21st, fwiw. I always care. |
I think most everyone can agree that the Lions got some very talented players.
The only "hate", was where they were picking them. They could have fell back, gotten some draft capital by trading down, and still got Gibbs. They probably could have waited until day 2 to grab Campbell. Not so much who they drafted, but where they drafted them. Example: Christian Gonzalez looks to be a great player. If the Panthers took him #1 overall, they would be idiots. If the Lions grabbed him at #12, it would have been a good pick. When the Pats finally got him at #17, he was a down right steal. Its not the players grade, its the grade of where they were taken. Lions could have had Christian Gonzalez AND most likely still got Gibbs at 17 and finally Campbell at 34
Jets where going to take Gibbs with their first pick . |

After taking Breece Hall, the 1st RB chosen last draft? I know Hall had the knee issue. But reports were that he is good to go. The Jets would have gotten even more roasted than the Lions were if that happened. Before the 2023 NFL Draft, Jets head coach Robert Saleh shared three words with the New York media that stretched to Jets fans: “Breece looks fantastic.” |

NE then bailed on pick to pitt who took the last OT NY would have taken. Jets then panicked and reached for a edge they could have gotten 10 picks later. |

Be funny if now the Jets cut Davis and the Packers sign Davis to a cheap 1 year deal. I never thought the Packers were going to take Davis in a trade as his cap number was to big but if he signs for say 1 year $2 million GB might do that to have a vet in the WR room.

But your link is still speculation. It isnt like the Jets came out and said "Damn, the Lions stole our guy". I am sure there were a lot of players on many draft boards. Still doesn't make a reach pick, not a reach pick. As i pointed out, the best RB in last years draft was taken until the 2nd round. Which is where most RB are chosen these days, for "value" reasons. |

"Almost" being the operative word ;) |
This year running backs were taken in the first round. Gibbs will be more of a weapon than just running the ball."Value pick" and "reach pick" are just words,if you like a player you take him.
