For $30, they should be shipping them back fast so you can hurry up and love money reselling them.
I can't believe they still haven't dropped prices. |
Does SGC show the grades when its "graded"? I have an order that was received yesterday. Based on this forum, it seems like I have a chance to have the card graded today.
I'm just wondering if I'm wasting my time refreshing all day or not. Hah
Yes. You can see the grades first and then the scans of the cards usually a few hours later usually the day after they are graded. They tend to update this at night for some reason. |
I am pretty sure that SGC will send you an email when the cards are shipped and telling you that the grades are available. From my memory, the grades weren't available until the shipping process, even if SGC said the cards were graded. The seller ready images usually took a few days to a week to show up after the grades were available to view. I just always waited until I got the email from SGC.
Usually the seller ready images take about a day once your cards hit post grading with cards getting shipped roughly at the same time. It's gone back and forth whether I get the grades or images first. |

I can't believe they still haven't dropped prices.
SGC got 18,600 cards the past week and CSG 4,600 with a cheaper service. People keep on sending cards to SGC even with PSA being cheaper. As I said before, the SGC customers are extremely loyal and the YouTube positive narrative about SGC grading is keeping their submissions very strong. ROI be damned with SGC. People are still submitting to them because of the best TAT and Customer Service in the grading industry right now. |

When I used SGC last they were still close to 30 days TAT. I guess everything is lightening quick now, including the images. :)! |

Regardless of what anyone else says, I still think it's a bad idea and a waste of money to use SGC. Turn around times are not that important in my opinion (except when. It comes to PSA and their 19 month wait, of course). I don't see them being a viable company much longer unless they drop prices |
#1 PSA
#2 SGC / BGS #4 CSG / GMA #6 The rest |
It's funny to see people talk about ROI, AND say turnaround times don't matter. If you're grading items to sell short-term, turnaround time IS a big deal because of opportunity cost.
Even if it only takes 3 months to get a card back from PSA, in that time frame I could have bought raw, graded, sold, then re-invested in another raw card I (to repeat the process), 3 or more times. So even if I get 20%-30% more on a PSA sale, the quick turnaround time allows me to keep my $ liquid and easily beat that margin. That's why I'm choosing SGC at the moment (and I'm buying and selling mostly vintage baseball) |
The "Patrick Roy Collection" subtitle indicates these cards were from Roy's PC, correct? I don't see any info about it online.

Thanks, there's a bunch currently up for auction on 4 Sharp Corners. Received: 9/19
Graded: 9/22 Post-Grading Processing: 9/22 Any idea if my order will pop today? I've been very useless the past few days. |
It was the next day in my experience. Either way, they should be available whenever you receive the shipping email from SGC.

The Lebron is very low pop/tough grade. Only one higher at SGC, which is an 8.5 and not many with PSA either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
9/22 received
9/22 graded Status: post grading processing Wow |

9/22 graded Status: post grading processing Wow
Peter has said, he more or less doesn't want inventory. That is a great way to live provided you are getting enough cards in daily. I still think they are going to have to lower the $30 price point. PSA backlog is clear, so the next few months will be secondary backlog of people who were waiting to submit. When that is cleared is when the real pricing will shake out, IMO. |
I stuck 5 cards in the mail today. Here is what I’m expecting
Brady Rookie -9 some light edge and upper right corner wear 97’ Jordan /99 - 9 a few some very light surface scratches, it’s more of a matte finish on the card so I’m not sure how that will play in Burrow /79- 9.5 small scratch on back, hopefully a 10 if it’s missed Brady luminance /99 - 10 no issues Brady elite /99 - 9.5 tiny surface issue on front upper right I think the luminance will look great in the tuxedo, Jordan will likely look odd due to the white boarder
9/22 received 9/22 graded 9/23 grades posted/shipped Jordan -9 Brady RC - 7 Burrow - 10 Brady luminance - 10 Brady elite - 9.5 |
Dropping off cards at a show
Quick question: What is the process for dropping off cards at a show? Should I complete the online submission now to save time or wait until I get to the show to do everything?
Thanks ! |
My SGC order at the cheapest tier arrived on 10/3, got graded on 10/3 and is already shipping back. :D
I got fair grades this time. Happy to get a 4 on the 1933 Goudey Dean. It's what I expected, but still you never know. I thought the Berg was a touch harsh and I was hoping Cochrane would sneak into a 3, though I totally get why it's a 2. My guess ahead of time was 2.5. |
SGC has a fan base that will use them exclusively no matter what. Those who like the Tux, something that is not new, but was marketed correctly, will only use them. The vintage fan base will use SGC almost exclusively and even the Gemrate numbers show that. Can those groups sustain them, when ULTRA Modern, especially chromium style cards usually go to PSA? Only time will tell, but at the current price point there are better options, especially when TAT is not critical!

It's also that PSA has a dubious grading system with no 9.5 grade, their turnaround time sucks and their customer support and transparency is even worse for me. |

All valid point. The reason I had to move away from them is because the hobby, like it or not, still prefer PSA. I have a few cards that I love in my PC because the SGC slab highlights the cards. |

Most everything I have for better or worse is PC, so what the hobby prefers doesn't matter that much. That said, velocity of money for sellers does matter and being able to get cards sent off graded and returned in under 2 weeks is a pretty big advantage even if you are pushing smaller margins. |

I was going to consider SGC with some of my judge bowman rc cards, but $75-90 for SGC 10 compared to $200-225 for PSA 10! That is a lower margin I can’t take. PSA 9 are in the SGC 10 range. |
