170 what? Sets? As in several thousands of dollars spent? Wow |
I'm now at 170 and still considering buying more. I really think these are being slept on big time.
Did you try to call UD about a case? I still haven't gotten any response to my email request. No movement on my order yet either. You guys aren't helping my addicition to buying these any easier lmao |
In regards to the star rookie sets, I opened a case and the condition is very bad on all the inserts. Not one would be gradable...the Bedard blue was very bad. I did get 4 gold though.
All 20 Bedard base where off center, either left to right, or top to bottom. Condition was really good on them however. Just an FYI on my case. |
I think I'll stick to tins. I really want to get a red dazzlers Bedard.
|

Are you guys preordering the Connor Bedard collection set as well? Think that'll be as hot as the Star Rookies set?
|
Now that s2 is out, expect a lot less demand for all the random stuff
|
Now that s2 is out, expect a lot less demand for all the random stuff
Yep. SP-1 will settle in the 200-300 range soon. |
Bedard YGs are already being sold in the 700s. $300 loss from this morning.
|
It's crazy for the Star Rookie sets. The Bedard base is selling for the cost of a box right now. So free insert basically.
The only box I could find locally got me a green Faber 7/9. |
About to list my Bedard from the set on eBay now. I bought 3 sets and opened 2. The first had a blue Leo and the second had this.

I actually did better than I thought. Here is the breakdown of the case. 12 Blue (1 Bedard) 6 Gold 1 Red 1 Auto Again all in rough shape. Really really bad chipping. |
Yes but I also enjoy gambling with wax. Might turn out to be a mistake but guess I'll find out.
The sets are the lowest stake gamble I think I've ever come across lol Series 2 is more like a real life gamble that never pays off. Just went into LCS guy was 5 hobby boxes in before he hit the Bedard. No thank you |
Yes but I also enjoy gambling with wax. Might turn out to be a mistake but guess I'll find out.
Downside is pretty low. I think if you are getting them at $30 you can't lose. You spent $5100...people spent more than that on 2 cases of S2 today and will be creamed. |
anybody paying $1k for his young gun is insane
|

That's exactly how I'm looking at it. There's almost no downside risk unless something happens to Bedard. I actually think it will be one of the best ROI products this season and people will crack them like crazy. When people start getting priced out of the market they will turn to cheaper boxes to open is my thoughts. |
I check in and now everyone is praising the box sets lol, in the end the World works out as it should and all is right lol
First S1 box count: -1 Checklist -1 Portrait Not bad |
What do you think the Oversized Young Guns will sell for out of the gate?
I could not sell that thing fast enough if I pulled it. Based off what the regular YG's are going for, he might be able to get $10k Canadian for that.
Base YG. 2 sales in the 600s now. |
500s by the end of the day, maybe 400s by the end of week
|
This product will be a bloodbath soon once eBay is flooded with Bedard YG's and the price settles for the cost of a box.
|
Seriously though, for anyone who is new to hockey that is getting in on the Bedard craze, you have no idea how bad this will all tank once this hits e-pack. Consider this fair warning.

What the estimate date for epack? |
What the estimate date for epack?
usually on epack within 3 to 6 months after physical release |
Base YG. 2 sales in the 600s now.
Oh ok. It is called race to the bottom. It happens for every release. $500 was where most thought it would be day 1. As for e-pack, it seems to run a month behind, but many use e-pack to upgrade to silvers/speckle. At the moment, the best “value” is the Star Rookies set. |

Do we think this product is going to crash the epack servers? Will S2 sell out on epack? That's what I'm watching. But I agree whole heartedly, anyone buying a YG now is just in a hurry for no reason. epack will bring the price down to a much better level for buyers |

We will have all the fun while you sit on the sideline and wait :)! The only people I really see complaining or being negative are the old school hockey collectors who just want things cheap. Cards are different beast these days and hockey finally has the hype for the first time since COVID boom. Do not underestimate what can happen. |
i will be looking for a copy in a 9 at the show this year
|
i will be looking for a copy in a 9 at the show this year
There will be plenty of 9/8’s to go around. |
Same formula for any good upper deck item...
Initial release it's on fire. Now comes the valley as supply won't dwindle quickly enough. Epack hits and prices crater. Epack sells out. 12 to 24 months later, prices back up to levels at the 1 week after release point. Prices ascend from this point going forward. |

Covid boom was an unprecedented phenomenon. The lesson was severe to those who jumped in and are now stuck, lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar for the great 'investments'. Connor's YG is massively overprinted and apparently has condition woes to boot. E-pack has proven to kill values. Facts. Only cards in PSA 10 holders will have a chance at holding value. Raw cards- forget about it. Great for PCs and the average collector but they will become very common, just like every other raw YG out there. Crosby and McJesus YGs can be had for $800. MAYBE 10 years, 1100 points and 2 Cups from now a Bedard YG might sniff somewhere near that but I doubt it. So have your fun now- it's your money spend it how you see fit. |

It is likely to happen once the Hawks are no longer playing and it is summer. |

I will wait 5 years or so. If he is still a generational player by then, I'll do the same. Right now you can buy a Patrick Kane PSA 9 with way lower pop count for a third of a raw Bedard. Imo that's pretty Bedarded. |
Pretty much every single hyped player in every sport was cheaper in year 2-3 than in year 1. I don't see Bedard being different
|
It is likely to happen once the Hawks are no longer playing and it is summer.
Definitely true for Topps sports products. I don't see the upper deck online retailers dropping their prices. Perhaps some desperate ebay sellers, will be interesting to see. |
Pretty much every single hyped player in every sport was cheaper in year 2-3 than in year 1. I don't see Bedard being different
Not Ohtani but I agree otherwise. |
2020 covid year ohtani was dirt cheap
|
Will the Bedard young guns (just the standard young gun) be printed more than the McDavid young gun?
I can get a PSA 9 Mcdavid for less than a raw Bedard. To me thats insane, but I also dont know print runs |
If a person really believes in Bedard and pulls or but gem like cards, grade and sell them. Save the money and when SPA comes out, grab a few. In the long run, only 3-4 Bedard RC cards will be embraced by the hobby
YG SPA The Cup Maybe Ultimate. |
2020 covid year ohtani was dirt cheap
His point was every player drops from initial pricing. I already said injury changes things and that's the only reason ohtani dropped as evidenced by his resurgence as soon as he got healthy again. No one else other than ohtani would see card values increase after an injury like that. |

Not sure they will. Depends a lot on when the $1M 1 of 1 comes out. If it stays hidden for awhile, I suspect they'll go up. |

vs. S2 these were a no-brainer. |
10 star rookie boxes or 1 s2 hobby.... yeah, easy choice

ohhh i like that! haha |
What most are forgetting about the sets is they too have short print parallels and the potential to hit something the UD2 does not offer, an autograph chance. The set have blues
Golds /349 Reds /75 Greens /5 or 9 Black 1/1 And autos including a black 1/1 Yes the Young Gun is the big RC, apparently a case hit because they have avg 1 per case. Since that is the case, they don’t appear to be print at the same ratio as the others like normally. |

You guys are both right lol...YG's average roughly 1.5 per case. 12 boxes x 6 YG per box / 50YG = 1.5 per case. Has always been that way forever.

The Bedard box set will be worse. Maybe some random banner year spgu rc or unlicensed Goodwin champions thing. |
