Good night for Trae, 22 points and 8 assists on a 66% FG. I don't know why the team is only playing Trae for 24 minutes. Give him more minutes to develop some more.
Long out of the playoff race. Most tanking teams are trying to preserve their key pieces for next season while they gauge interest on their bench.

RogerGodahell 03-16-2019 11:24 AM

Hawks/Celtics - Starting in 10 minutes. This will be an enjoyable game for me to watch as a Celtics fan.

RogerGodahell 03-16-2019 11:44 AM

Wow is Collins quick to the rim. Holy smokes he's like lightning. Got those quick twitch muscles. Probably why he gets so many rebounds as well.

RogerGodahell 03-16-2019 11:50 AM

Trae/Collins have all of ATL points 15 five minutes into the game. Trae 9 Collins 6, hot start for both of them.

What ever happened to Tatum? Is Kyrie just in his way of being huge in the hobby?

Yeah. Celtics are different then most teams also. They're like the Spurs. Coach Stevens wants them to play team ball and be balanced. That's the style of offense that best suits them.

RogerGodahell 03-16-2019 12:03 PM

When they don't they're a mess. When they do they're at their best.

RogerGodahell 03-16-2019 01:35 PM

A couple big shots by Trae to make it a 3 point game.

That kid can ball!

Trae 26 pts on13 shots
Kyrie 27 pts on 23 shots

T206 03-16-2019 01:46 PM

Huge liability on defense

Stat line above suggests Kyrie is an even bigger liability

Kyrie is playing the best basketball of his career. Offense and Defense. 1) Kyrie isnt playing defense on young. 2) Doesnt make sense to guard half court three pointers. 3) Hawks made their run when Young was on the bench for a reason

My bad you are right, Trae did nothing in this game to keep the Hawks in it....those team high 26 pts were all garbage pts. How dumb of me....

You can score all you want but defense wins games. Smart was abusing Young all game

Bronconation24 03-16-2019 02:14 PM

Absolutely. Young is the new IT of the league. Anyone could score on him at will. Good thing the hobby doesn’t care for defense though, right?!?

the27guy 03-16-2019 02:15 PM

Good to see another game like this out of Trae. 26, 4 and 4 on only 18 possessions is a great game for anyone. But against a team with a defense like the Celtics have it’s particularly impressive.

T206 03-16-2019 04:48 PM

He was super efficient from 3 and hit some nasty floaters

WalterAZ31 03-16-2019 09:14 PM

steph curry plays amazing defense too.........said no one

A lot of teams have players who are defensive liabilities that need help. I think Young more than makes up for it on the offensive end of the floor. He’s never going to be an elite defender, but guys like Curry and Nash (similar to Trae) have won multiple MVPs. Curry is also the best leader in the NBA, and Trae has the kind of personality where he may one day be very similar.

ninjacookies 03-16-2019 09:33 PM

I think hobby wise, defense almost becomes a non factor when it comes to point guards.

If you look at modern era prices, whose mid to high end stuff sells the best?

Curry, Kyrie, Westbrook, AI, Jason Williams...

The hobby gravitates towards the offensive minded pg's with flashy playing styles. I don't think defense even crosses the mind. CP3 is a ball hawk future hall of famer and a lot of his stuff can be had for peanuts.

Has anyone pulled his Nebula card from any that has the parallel?

The thing that's more bizarre than you listing Jason Williams with those other guys is that you're absolutely right.

Trae Young is, by any advanced defensive metric, probably the worst defensive player in the NBA. He's probably always going to be very inefficient shooting and turn the ball over way too much. But if he's allowed to keep having such a high usage rate, and improve his efficiency slightly, he's going to put up consistently huge stat lines in a flashy way. It will be interesting to follow for sure.

On a side note..

There's no way this is legit, right???

21 and 12 today - not bad and only on 13 shots. Got to work on those turnovers though

Most people probably would never think it in a million years.

But the hobby is driven by memorable figures and people that changed the game or how it was played.

He had a massive cult following...and became somewhat of an icon with that Kings squad with cwebb. The first white player to really be accepted into the urban street ball culture. Didn't have the most gaudy stats, but the hobby is quirky.

Irving is the modern day equivalent. I think after he's done playing there'll be the same kind of nostalgia about him and his handles.
