Why do you hope it is a one and done?

[QUOTE=90skid;18068621]I know it's Panini, but I really hope this is a one and done product. Flux was essentially this year's Hoops Premium Stock in terms of printing the hell out of it and parallels - but the box topper idea was new for Hobby and these FOTL scopes really stand out.

I'm a little bummed that my one touch cases for these aren't in the best of shape, so I'm considering getting them slabbed to match up with the rest of my PC.

I believe that Flux does not really conform with Hoops and its ilk in that the cool inserts are limited to hobby and have few parallels. I am looking at black, gold, red, and silver of Incoming and that is it... no cracked ice, no disco, no camo.

And that's before the aesthetics come into play.

It just seems like things get played out if they keep redoing the same insert over and over every year, with a slight change up in check list. Like Donruss Net Marvels now on its third year.

So if they redo Flux Titans for 2021 then consider a significant rehash of the checklist so all new players are in it instead of the same ones over and over again. Maybe it's just me.

I see, thanks

I am not an experienced hobbyist, but just as aesthetics come into play, I really like that Atmosphere set. Quite unique I feel.

I managed to find 3 Hobby box here in Japan this morning, for 259USD each.

Honestly don't grade them. I know it's for your PC, but they hold more value sealed in the encased holder. But that's just my personal opinion and a few others that I have talked to.

That was a good price. Same as I got on last box a few days ago. Unfortunately a Harden base Titan was the hit and an... umm... I think Jamal Washburn Atmosphere? The /25 Dennis Schroeder moonmist glow is sick, I'll admit.

Print long ago stopped, verified by numbered card frequency (maybe the definition of Hobby as a product?). The difference is that Hobby Flux has so many amazing inserts. Each one stands on its own. Like Recon but better. I estimate 500-600 print run of each Atmosphere....

mightytom 03-18-2022 01:59 AM

Interesting stat! 500/600 you reckon. Thanks for the info :)!

You know what happened with the last hobby box I opened?
I felt like one blaster was bigger than usual.
Indeed, there were a Luka Exo and Ja Thermo in the same blaster!!!
And because of that I am collecting the set now...

I have a Bird Titan Legend Gold 4/5 but it doesn't seem to raise any kind of interest here :) Poor Larry Legend!

It's a stretch to say the front border design of Titan cards resembles the front of the 98 Metal cards. The 98 cards had embossed foil that imitated steel -- the Titan border design looks more an Optic insert.

This paper also shortchanges the history of Marvel Metal, which was the first Metal Universe set and inspiration for the sports sets. The Marvel version had colored parallels -- silver and gold flashers.

Marvel bought Skybox in 95 and Skybox used Marvel artists to do the graphics for the original Metal cards, including the sports cards.

mightytom 03-18-2022 06:35 PM

I follow you on that 100%!

[QUOTE=strider_boi;18049662]I guess I can finally show it off. The complete curry rainbow. Well minus the base that’s coming this week. It was a hell of a chase

Also here’s the rest of curry family

That curry rainbow is so amazing and beautiful!

This is a beautiful set. Just let it be. We don’t always have to make comparisons. We do this so much in this era. It takes away from the individuality. Whether we are comparing LeBron and MJ, LeBron and KD, totally certified and PMG/flux titan. They’re all beautiful! However the OP still did a great job on this thread

Lots of truth here. We can appreciate a great set without having to wonder whether it's the next _____ .

Nomad 03-29-2022 04:35 PM

It's kind of best if it's a release that lasts 2-3 years, which will be a maximum time of flux on d planet (major transition between energy sources).

Notice when it was released. At a time of flux between pandemic and push-the-button, heads-under-tables redux.

Exactly. This set just looks and feels special. It stands on its own. It does not need to be compared to anything from the past. I enjoyed reading OP’s research paper but I think it actually detracts from how original and unique these cards are.

I am bummed, price of hobby boxes went up a lot. Must fight urge to... rip Flux.

mightytom 03-30-2022 01:09 AM

The scopes are next level bro. This is a beautiful LeBron! Here’s a couple gold scopes I scooped raw and graded. LaVine gold scope /18 and the DeRozan /8. I also love these Fluid FOTL Gold shimmers /10. Flux really nailed it this year. As for the Titans I’ve been seeing a lot come back graded but I would prefer to have them in their original, sticker sealed one touch as that’s part of the attraction. Glad you got a 10 or I personally would’ve been mad at myself for cracking lol. To each their own, the card still looks sexy asf as it’s all personal preference.
