That is true, I will start it now. I hate Panini, I want UD and Topps back for basketball. Their site is slow and archaic and I can rarely get a box of FOTL, even though I do everything right and am as fast as I can be.

I think that covers most of it!
If you have something in your cart and the item gets sold out, that's it. It's not in your cart anymore.

What people fail to realize is that you don't have the product until you finish checkout and PAY! So, having it in your cart means NOTHING!

FAQ for the newbies ^^^
This is actually the biggest issue with the whole system. They should do it like when you purchase tickets or some other retail sites do. If it's in your cart you have "x" minutes to complete the transaction.

Yup, they should, but they don't.

So, I think people b*tch and complain because of that. But, they have to understand the system we ALL have to work with. Don't slow down just because you have the item in your cart. Go all the way!

I don’t think internet speed makes or breaks you with this process.

It’s all on their servers

Speed doesn't necessarily matter but connections with a lower ping would be able to access the servers quicker (and theoretically before they get bogged down.)

I just verified the $750 price tag. Seems like Panini wants a piece of that secondary market pie.

Good for them. In reality they should be charging $1K per on this stuff!

That knocks a few out!
Also, Panini charges the next day now.
Previously it was when the product shipped.

Myswell just cut distributors out all together and just sell direct like this if you aren't even going to sell at MSRP... I am by no means complaining about the $750 price tag, but never understood why Panini just doesn't do this process with everything. My LCS buys a ton and has been around since the 90s and is lucky to land a couple cases of the hot stuff from distributors. It doesn't seem to be a secret who is getting all the product these days...

The Accountant 04-16-2019 11:25 AM

tomorrow will mark the day panini changes FOTL for good. this is a test. when in sells out in 30 seconds, this will become the norm. Markups

Dnic 04-16-2019 11:27 AM

Really hope someway they stop the bots honestly think that is the major problem with only the greedy people getting FOTL

KhalDrogo 04-16-2019 11:28 AM

At $750 MSRP for FOTL, and $1380 currently for hobby, these should open at $2k+ on the secondary market.

Why do that? So much product goes to so few already. It is much easier to ship pallets to a few than to ship thousands of orders to the masses.

Metsfan1991 04-16-2019 11:30 AM

Just verified this was pushed back to increase hype. Panini was worried it would not sell out.

Because Panini isn't getting $750/box from distributors and those buying direct.

sure, that works well for a few high-end or in-demand products. But what about all of their remaining releases? Distributors are not willing to fill their warehouses with the dreck for free. Panini needs these distributors to distribute 8 out of 10 of their releases.

I could see panini doing 40 Vertical RPA/20 =800 boxes

And adding in a new fotl horizontal RPA/20 for 800 boxes

1600 total! Would everyone be happy/upset. Would allow more people to get it while lowering prices on secondary market possibly.

It wouldn't change secondary market prices IMO, so I think the only losers in that scenario would be those buying to rip. Twice as many dud-rpa boxes.
