Vines sent down. Elder getting the start tonight. Fried tomorrow on regular rest. Lopez, Sale, and Morton all getting an extra day. Seems like they are going to work this into almost a 6 man rotation of sorts.

With Strider that wouldn't be as big of a deal but now that means 2 out of the 6 starts will be guys that probably shouldn't be starting. Let's hope Elder can somehow find his 1st half form from last year. |

I suppose it's more like a 5.5 man rotation. Elder should get this start and then the next one on regular rotation. Fried should follow him again and then the next move. My bet would be AJSS is next in line. I have no problem with them building in extra days early to keep the older guys fresher. Especially when the guys getting the extra rest are giving the team 6 innings. Lopez hasn't thrown more than 65 innings since 2019, the last time he was a full time starter. |
I'd like to see AJSS get some starts for sure. Wonder if Ian Anderson will factor in later in the year.
All about keeping Sale and Lopez fresh since they both have question marks when it comes to total innings. |

I’m very ok w the starters skipping starts to preserve their arms for October. Winning the division has looked detrimental anyway, so that shouldn’t be a huge concern to anyone. Sucks seeing pitchers just out there eating innings, but 2021 and that reg season record and WS ending was obviously better than 2022 or last year.
Play to win the World Series not the regular season. |

I wouldn’t be shocked to see Waldrep called up either. Elder ran out of gas pitching way more than he had ever done before and I’m sure the Braves don’t want a repeat performance from their other young arms. Just checked and doesn’t appear that any of the Braves young arms are killing it in the minors. I’ll hope for the best without Strider. Braves have done pretty good after losing great players to injury before ;) |
Ozzie was out running and doing agility drills and taking batting practice. Looks like his missed time is going to be on the shorter side.
|
Travis is on such a don't miss any of his at bats heater right now. Last 5 hits have been home runs.
|
Let's go d'Arnaud!

Fried with a Maddux tonight!
|
Just had the same thought. Amazing performance. :flex:

Love it! |
Boy, tonight's game got a little sideways late, but they pulled it off. Lopez continuing his great start. 22.2 innings of 1 run ball from the starters in the series. And Matt Olson snapped his long hitless streak.
Such a fun team to watch |
Fletcher out righted back to AAA.
Assuming the corresponding move is Ozzie |
Lopez has been amazing so far.
|
Ozuna is the first Brave to have 30 RBI before May 1
|
Sale with his third straight 7 inning start. First time since 2018 for him
|
Couldn't ask for anything more than what Sale and Lopez are doing.
Man just imagine if we had Strider healthy too... |
That short Albies documentary is certainly worth a watch. It almost brought a tear to my eye when he said “I want all the puppies to be happy”.
|
So glad we have another Ron Washington as our third base coach. No stop signs lol
|
That bottom of the 10th HURT. Have to say pinch running Travis came back to bite us. Can't wait for the top of our line up to come out of this funk. Ozuna, Travis, and Money Mike carrying us big time.
And where is unc at? Haven't seen him pitch in over a week. Really wish we had seen him tonight instead of Jimenez. |
Went to the game last night. Exciting one to be at but bummed we couldn't get it done. Different story in the bottom of the 10th today! Overall a sloppy series for us but still managed to get the series win.

See this article from MLB?
"Smith-Shawver has already thrown 15 pitches that have registered at 98 mph or higher this year with Triple-A Gwinnett. His three highest-recorded velocities of the year -- 99.8 mph, 99.7, 99.2" Are we ever going to get out of this era of arm destroying speed? Can we not teach spinrate and control anymore? I hope his arm holds out but I guess he's looking at 2-3 TJ's in his future. |

Because you can still end up needing TJ even when you don't throw 95+ Interesting note on Strider, since we're discussing TJ surgery. They found a bone fragment in his elbow that caused destabilization of the UCL, leading to the injury. Meaning it would have happened whether he was throwing 100 or 85. |
