Picked up this 2nd Year Tiger Woods SP Authentic #1 the other day. Glad to have in the collection. Only around 200 have been graded in 18 years from PSA. 77 From BGS Graded in 18 years.... The Gold Foil on the front is a nice touch and with the 2001 Sp Auto Rc going for $21K+ in BGS 9.5, these should start to get looked at seriously.
Ill keep comparing prices to Lebron and a 8th year Prizm just went for 22K Upper Deck Sp Authentic is the Flagship for Golf/TW Products from 2001 - and beyond. This Tiger Sp was card #1 for 2002 and 2003 and a few other years, and to me that is his best card in the set (the first card). Not to take anything away from the other numbers in the set. @Thunderdunk I see you keep mentioning "8th year" LeBron. Not sure if you're aware or not, but the reason there's a big demand for that card is because it's the 1st year Prizm card, and it's the silver on top of that. If you look across the board, all big name players, there 2012 Silver Prizm card is pretty expensive. Not as expensive as LeBron of course, but you get my point. Hopefully that explains it a bit better.

Hi @FreddDS I understand the desire to own a specific card set. Kind of like the PMG metals although there were a lot more 2012 Prizm made. Thanks!
Extremely cool gesture, by Phil.. one of the coolest cats out there
One of the fun parts of the golf card hobby is learning about the many nuances and sometime historical aspects related to the production, autos, distribution methods and rarity. Not only do rare SP cards abound there are variations in condition and autos that can be fun to look for and acquire. Below is an example of a very rare 2002 Phil Mickelson Sign of the Times golf card. What is remarkable about this single is that not only was the Phil Mickelson card a SP in the set, finding gem mint examples with a full on-card autograph is very hard to find. To date, there have been 7 BGS gem mint examples graded and out of those 7 there are only 3 that have obtained a "10" auto grade. Most of the autographs that Phil signed included the "M" in his last name going off the bottom of the card and thus a point deduction. There are a handful of Phil Mickelson SOTT cards graded PSA 10 but the few gem mint singles I have ever seen have included the auto "M" going off the card. The intent of sharing this background is to provide an example of the many hidden gems that can be found out there. Enjoy and happy collecting:D |

I like turning a profit like the next guy...I have a lot of great MJ, Lebron and GOAT cards from every sport as well but, as far as the joy of collecting goes, golf is one of the most nuanced collecting lines for sure...it is my favorite. Like this one...This is such an astronomically impossible pull from 2001 Upper Deck Premiere Edition being SP/43. There is only 1 gem mint copy with a 10 auto that exists. Of the 5 BGS 9s only one has a 10 auto. You may be saying to yourself well who cares about Chi Chi Rodriguez...but that is where the line between the Tiger card day traders and true golf card nuts is at. It is worth more to me than what most people would pay and I will always be fine with that. Some folks wouldn't pay $25 for it but there are a few people that would pay $1000+ |

Below is the elusive and infamous Bob May 2001 Sign of the Times card. Searching ebay auctions looking at each Bob May that was listed to find both a gem mint condition eligible card and the auto fully on the card was a challenge. Finding an eligible Bob May card on ebay...$5 Sending into BGS for grading (back in the day)...$15 Passing a very rare gem mint card as part of a graded set to my son one day...Priceless |
This thread is getting to be one of the Greats! Keep it up. Amazing Golf Cards above! Congrats to all. So much knowledge on this board!

Ok so now you guys know who has the only 9.5 Player's Ink complete set in existance :D and like jondmac2005, we are both very very close to the complete 9.5 2001 SOTT set. :)!
Anyone who is a die hard golf collector knows that the Chi Chi is one of the most difficult cards to obtain in ANY grade. Most are locked away in complete sets, some may be still unearthed! Crack those cases fellas! I need another 9.5 set :)! My recent submissions....Beckett can be so mean sometimes! .5 away on both.....I may just have to submit the red again, it looks way too good not to be a 9.5!

Congrats! That 2001 SP Preview is amazing! That /900 is the best rookie card ever made! The dreaded .5 away! Happens to all of us! That Auto on the /900 is absolutely stunning. Tiger's signature is one of the all time greats as well. Could he have the best actual signature of a athlete? But seriously you have some amazing ones! Cant wait to see whats next! |

It took me forever to get that exact Bob May you have pictured. I recently just got another one graded in my BGS bulk order a 9.5/10 but it looks funny with no subs. Funny how big but yet small the golf card world is. I sold both of those sets to Stephen up in Toronto a long time ago and looks like you have them now? If so, glad they have a nice home. I do have another complete Player's Ink set I just need to grade it. You should have a 10/10 Player's Ink Duval and a sick 9.5/10 Goosen SOTT as well if my memory serves me correctly :)! |

I posted this before but I don’t think anyone besides us hardcore golf collectors would know how rare it is. It may be the only one made based on the stated odds of pulling it :)!

For the 2001 Sp Authentic Preview packs, were the numbered parallels always the middle card of the 3?
